margaretLO Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Hello. Is it more possible to hage adverse reaction in reistatement from meds or herbs after long time u quit a medicine? Lexapro Use History (2015-2022) I have been using Lexapro for seven years, with many attempts to quit due to severe side effects. 2015: I started taking 20 mg of Lexapro at age 24 for presentation/social anxiety induced by weed use. 2016: I attempted to quit cold turkey (on my doctor's advice) but experienced extreme terror and anxiety, prompting me to reinstate the medication. 2016: I tried to stop again cold turkey, resulting in severe OCD, social fear, and terror, leading to another reinstatement. 2018: I reduced the dosage to 10 mg due to OCD, visual snow, and fatigue. I struggled with severe sickness for 2.5 years before stabilizing. 2022: I attempted to taper off 10 mg almost cold turkey over one month (again on my doctor's advice), because I experienced even more adverse reactions and elevated inflammation markers. I faced extreme protracted withdrawal symptoms with every attempt to stop, experiencing a wide range of symptoms. After two years, I have healed about 30% and have seen even more improvements in some symptoms. I started to regain functions I hadn’t had for 10 years, and I began to feel hopeful about my healing journey. However, in March 2024, I experienced an extreme crash/setback after taking a multivitamin that contained 50 mg of Panax ginseng, which I did not notice. I had taken the vitamin to help with a wave of swallowing issues related to my difficulty eating solid food. As a result, I lost all my improvements, no longer have any windows of relief, and even developed new symptoms.
EPD6893 Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Sorry but 10% is not an option. I need to come off my drug immediately. If I don't my teeth clenching side effect will keep getting worse, and then my jaw pain and tinnitus will also worsen. I don't have the luxury of being able to take it slow. Late 2020 stop Effexor 350mg in 2 months by psychiatrist. Withdrawal and new disability (functional reflux/ibs) Late 2021 stop abilify on my own. Goes perfectly fine. Late 2022 Effexor 37.5mg Late 2024 Trying to Taper Effexor again November 2024 -Stopped amitriptyline in order to switch to Fluoxetine. December 2024 -Stopped Effexor 56.5mg and switched to Fluoxetine 20mg. Current medications: -Morning: Fluoxetine 20mg, omeprazole 20mg, famotadine 20mg, vitamin D capsuals, multi vitamins. -Evening: Omeprazole 20mg, omeprazole 10mg, famotadine 20mg

Not doing cold turkey. Reducing by 25% per month. I need to come off faster than the 10% method as my jaw pain from the drug is getting worse overtime, and the pain is already bad enough to wake me up at night. Yichin Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Let’s say you refuse to stay on the drug. Let’s say 10 percent is too fast. Let’s say a tolerable rate will never allow you to come off. Do you hold for a few years in hopes of being less sensitive or do you power through with a 5 percent taper rate knowing this will cause disability? 2014 -2022 Prozac 40mg (medicated normal) intermittently x3 (reinstated each time because withdrawal misdiagnosed as relapse) 2022 Aug- Nov rapid taper to 0 2023 April severe withdrawal, no longer functional 2023 May 5 doses of Ativan 2023 May reinstate 20 mg Prozac Found SA.org 2024 April 20 mg to 19.5 mg liquid back to 20 mg 2024 Sept change to 20 mg compounded 2024 Dec start daily microtaper using partial solid, partial liquid No supplements or other medications
