Peter23
Could I ask one of the monitors if my zopiclone taper using the liquid formulation is reasonable. I will be reducing the zopiclone 7.5mg/5ml solution by 1ml or 1.5mg every two weeks. I am being closely supported by my primary physician every two weeks. This represents a fast taper of 20% every two weeks which was previously agreed by one of the monitors. 2000-Venlafaxine 150 mg and Olanzapine 10 mg started 2012- Venlafaxine(tapered off) to Sertraline 150 mg until 2021, added mirtazapine 30 mg until 2019 2018-2023, Oct- Pregabalin, started 150 mg to 600 mg 2019- Diazepam started 6mg 2022- July-restart mirtazapine(unsuccessful) Oct- ECT X 12, Zopliclone 7.5 mg start- present 2023- January, olanzapine decreased to 7.5 mg, Lorazepam 1 mg X 2 weeks, Diazepam increased- 20 mg, some tapering to June-Diazepam 10 mg March- Agomelatine added-25 mg October 9th, 2023 present meds bolded Link to comment

Hi @Peter23, yes this might work if you're still taking diazepam. If you're not, the recommendation would be to split the dose and taper the usual 10% per month of current dose. What happened with agomelatine? I had thought you were going to reduce that first? See below: 2003-2009 on and off various SSRI's for short periods 2010-2011 Ativan 2013-2021 ativan 1-1.5mg 10-12x/month, daily starting Oct 21 to help with buspar WD 2016 - Effexor 75mg, short-term 2021 Mar -Jun Buspar ADR at high dose, tapered 3 months Oct 22/21 - Direct switch ativan to clonazepam (don't do this) Tapered clonaz Oct/21 - Apr/23 - 0mg! Peter23
Thanks LotusRising for your reply. I am still on diazepam 10mg daily. Do you think I would benefit by taking some of my diazepam at night once I commence my Zopiclone taper? As I am being monitored by my primary physician during my taper I might have to extend the period of withdrawal by a week or so if I encounter severe withdrawal symptoms. I did start reducing the Agomelatine some time ago by shaving off 10% of the dose by weight. However I found this method unsatisfactory and abandoned it. I think it might be better to leave the Agomelatine taper at the moment and concentrate on coming of the Zopiclone first. Altostrata suggested that I come off the drugs that were acting as " brakes" like the Zopiclone and Pregabalin. I will provide updates once I commence the Zopiclone taper. Thanks again for your reply and for the link to Z drug tapering . 2000-Venlafaxine 150 mg and Olanzapine 10 mg started 2012- Venlafaxine(tapered off) to Sertraline 150 mg until 2021, added mirtazapine 30 mg until 2019 2018-2023, Oct- Pregabalin, started 150 mg to 600 mg 2019- Diazepam started 6mg 2022- July-restart mirtazapine(unsuccessful) Oct- ECT X 12, Zopliclone 7.5 mg start- present 2023- January, olanzapine decreased to 7.5 mg, Lorazepam 1 mg X 2 weeks, Diazepam increased- 20 mg, some tapering to June-Diazepam 10 mg March- Agomelatine added-25 mg October 9th, 2023 present meds bolded Link to comment
Peter23
Started the Zopiclone liquid 7.5mg/5ml on the 17/08/24. The doctor wants me to take 5ml for 2 weeks after which I will be reducing my dose by 1ml every 2 weeks. I'm currently only sleeping for 4 or 5 hours. Think this may be caused by rebound insomnia due to taking the Zopiclone for an extended period of time. 2000-Venlafaxine 150 mg and Olanzapine 10 mg started 2012- Venlafaxine(tapered off) to Sertraline 150 mg until 2021, added mirtazapine 30 mg until 2019 2018-2023, Oct- Pregabalin, started 150 mg to 600 mg 2019- Diazepam started 6mg 2022- July-restart mirtazapine(unsuccessful) Oct- ECT X 12, Zopliclone 7.5 mg start- present 2023- January, olanzapine decreased to 7.5 mg, Lorazepam 1 mg X 2 weeks, Diazepam increased- 20 mg, some tapering to June-Diazepam 10 mg March- Agomelatine added-25 mg October 9th, 2023 present meds bolded Link to comment
