Hello JohnM and welcome to SA,

Your first post is blank but your Introduction topic title provides some information about your reason for joining SA.

SA's recommended taper rate is to reduce by no more than 10% of the current dose followed by a hold of about 4 weeks to allow the brain to adapt to not getting as much of the drug.  The taper rate is a guide only and it is important to listen to your body/symptoms and to not make another reduction until you are stable.  It it generally better to hold for longer than to reduce too soon.

Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

The following is a slower taper rate which can give you more control of your taper.  However if you are taking Prozac it might be better use the reduction once every 4 weeks method due to the long half life of the drug, where it can take 2-3 weeks for the effect of a dose change to be noticed.  Whereas for most other psychiatric drugs is generally takes about 4 days for a dose change to get to full level/steady state in the blood and a bit longer for it to register in the brain.

You don't say which drug your are tapering.  Please see Post #1 of this topic to find a link to the drug you wish to find out more information about.  Post #1 of the Tips for Tapering "drug name" topic explains how to get non standard doses.

This is your own Introduction topic and is the best place to ask questions specific to your own situation and where you can journal your progress.  This will keep your history in one place and you won't have to repeat your story.

Please post and let us know if there is any further information that you need.
