Cdnorthogirl Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 I have been at 3 mg Paxil (liquid compounded) for a very long time (maybe 5 yrs). It has been working for me. In May, 2022, I received some news that created high anxiety in my life. Mid-June, 2022, I began feeling very anxious & had/have intense insomnia (sleeping only about 3 hrs/night). These are the same symptoms I had in 2008, when I first started to taper my paxil usage (from 20 mg). The anxiety and insomnia continue (late August 2022). I am thinking of upping my dosage to see if this will help. Reading the reinstatement information, I am wondering how much to increase dosage, 3.5 mg? 4 mg? 2000 Paroxetine 20 mg. 2008 June Begin Taper reduce 2.5 mg each mth, cutting pills Oct Withdrawl symptoms @ 5 mg; return to 7.5 Dec Start using liquid compounded 2009 -2022 down to 3 mg; stayed there 2022 May High Stress Event 2022 June Withdrawl Symptoms Return 2022 June Lorazepam (1 mg) 2 -3 times/week for anxiety & insomnia 2022 AUG 3 mg Paroxetine daily 2022 AUG 1 mg Lorazepam as needed 2022 AUG 20 mg Rosuvastatin Supplements: Vit D 1000 IU, Magnesium 250 mg, Calcium 600 mg w/800 IU Vit D, Multi-vitamin
Administrator Altostrata Posted August 25, 2022 Administrator Posted August 25, 2022 Welcome, @Cdnorthogirl I am confused. When did you last reduce Paxil? It was in 2009? It is unlikely that you have withdrawal symptoms from a decrease made 13 years ago. In May or June, did you skip any doses or take any off-schedule? How old is your liquid, did it expire and lost potency? Did you start taking lorazepam before or after you "began feeling very anxious & had/have intense insomnia (sleeping only about 3 hrs/night)"? Had you been using lorazepam in May? Please note that we do not counsel people about increasing their drugs for therapeutic reasons. That is something you'd have to discuss with your doctor. We can help you reduce or go off your drugs. This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner. Cdnorthogirl Posted August 25, 2022 Author Posted August 25, 2022 Probably I reduced to 3 MG about 4 yrs ago. No, I do not skip any doses. I take it daily at the same time (9 am) and get the prescription renewed monthly. I received the Rx for lorazepam at the beginning of July and take it sparingly. I just don't know what to do with this anxiety and insomnia coming on. I will talk to my doctor. Administrator Altostrata Posted August 30, 2022 Administrator Posted August 30, 2022 Please review adverse effects of rosuvastatin. Could this be the cause of your symptoms? You didn't skip any doses in May-June, take paroxetine off-schedule, drink alcohol, or take an antibiotic, correct? Did the brand or formulation of your paroxetine change? Side note: In early May, my son let us know that he, wife, kids were moving across the continent, due to vaccine mandates here. Administrator Altostrata Posted September 5, 2022 Administrator Posted September 5, 2022 As you know, we offer peer support for going off psychiatric drugs here. Sorting out people's adverse reactions to their drug cocktails including non-psychiatric drugs is not a service we offer, nor do we offer monitoring of your drug regimen -- that is your doctor's job. It's bad enough that I had to spend my unpaid time looking up "pins and needles" from rosuvastatin. To be an informed consumer, you should read up on the adverse effects of all your drugs. You might keep daily notes to take to your doctor and discuss the possibilities with him or her. Please let us know when you want to go off a psychiatric drug. This is not medical advice.
