Kram86: venlafaxine XR - delayed WD symptoms?

Hi,

I missed a week of Venlafaxine XR 150mg and started getting withdrawal symptoms. I started taking it again and felt better at first. But after about a week I've started feeling worse.

Is this normal? Could it be delayed withdrawal symptoms? Or could it just be because things needs to stabilise after starting atain?

I'd really appreciate any insight.

Thanks

Welcome to SA. We are a volunteer ran site helping people taper off psychiatric medications or have tapered off and are now healing.

What you are experiencing is wd symptoms because your body did not have the medication for a week. You should start feeling better soon. Then after a nice long hold you will want to taper no more than 10% a month and many go much slower than that.

You've used the word "statin". Should that be "state"? If so, I'm unclear what you mean.

Thanks

You have "Or could it just be because things needs to stabilise after starting atain" in your introduction, so I thought it was a typo and you meant statin, not atain?

I do think you need to stabilize before doing anything further.

It's a typo and should read "again". Is it possible to correct it?

OK, so I know I'm experiencing wd symptoms.

Is it normal to have an initial improvement in wd symptoms when restarting medication, then for them to start getting worse after a week?

Thanks

I'm  considering taking magnesium to help with the withdrawal symptoms.

I think Magnesium Bisglycinate would be best.

I know the recommended starting dose is 25mg. Does that refer to the overall amount of Magnesium Bisglycinate, or just the amount of elemental magnesium?

A lot of Magnesium Bisglycinate products state 2 different values - overall amount of Magnesium Bisglycinate, and amount of elemental magnesium eg. 500mg and 100mg respectively.

Also, is that 25mg per dose, or per day?

Thanks

You could try 25mg for a few days and see how you do and then adjust the dose.

You might want to read the link I provided you and that should explain the different kinds of magnesium. I found magnesium citrate works really well for me, but everyone is different.
