Marie2200 Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Hello, I am new here. I used to be on a website called Paxil Progress, it saved my life honestly. I withdrawed from Paxil fully via liquid small tiny doses back in 2014. It took me a few years. It was hell. I then withdrawed from Trazadone and switched to Unisom for sleep and finally withdrew from that this year about April. I have always struggled with anxiety and depression. I was put on Prozac at age 13 and finally got off Paxil at 34. It has been quite a ride. I still struggle but I just know my body now. I take Natural Calm magnesium powder almost daily which helps with sleep and anxiety. I don't drink caffeine. I don't eat sugar after about 4pm. I saw a Naturapath recently and she recommended a product called Cortisol Manager which I just started taking. It works great to calm down the body. I have had a tough year since I was diagnosed as being Iron Deficient. It has majorly revved up my anxiety with all these new weird symptoms I have been having. Although my anxiety is high this year, I am practicing all my tools I learned and I am getting through it. I have always wondered what happened to all my friends at Paxil Progress which got me through some tough years. I am so thankful for what I learned there and the support I got. Hugs ❤️
Moderator Emeritus manymoretodays Posted November 8, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Posted November 8, 2022 (edited) Hi there Marie2200 and welcome aboard, You find some others from Paxil Progress who migrated here. Congratulations on getting off your medications/drugs too. We have members create signatures here and this is how to do that: How to Summarize Your Drug History in Your Signature(click on the underlined passage and you'll find instructions on how to do this, and how to lay it out) It is different from your "profile information" you gave on registration, and that is confidential. And it will appear below each of your posts, once done, and give us all a nice idea of where you are at, your timelines with WD, and drug history. Some general information: We go with a harm reduction plan for tapering off psychoactive drugs, which is explained here: Why taper by 10% of my dosage? Some of what happens when we come off of our drugs and what exactly is WD? What do the symptoms look like? Brain Remodelling What is withdrawal syndrome? Dr.Glenmullen’s withdrawal symptom list. Your symptoms described do sound like WD, see what you think, when you look at the PDF of symptoms in that topic. The Windows and Waves Pattern of Stabilization Have you experienced some good Windows at this point in time? When we take medications, the CNS (central nervous system) responds by making changes over the months and years we take the drug(s). When the medication is discontinued, the CNS has to undo all the changes it made. The CNS likes stability. Rebuilding the neurotransmitter production and reactivating the receptor and transporter cells takes time -- during that rebuilding process symptoms occur. And sleep is really important during withdrawal. We don't recommend a lot of supplements on SA, as many members report being sensitive to them due to our over-reactive nervous systems, but two supplements that we do recommend are magnesium and omega 3 (fish oil). Many people find these to be calming to the nervous system. Magnesium, nature's calcium channel blocker Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) I'd be careful with naturopath suggestions, due to the likelihood of your being a bit sensitized now, or sensitive to many things that you may not have been if now drug and WD history. What exactly is in Cortisol Manager? Often single ingredient supplements are better than combinations, so we know exactly what might be doing what or helping or hindering. Important topics about tests, supplements, treatments, and diet The rule of 3KI's Many of us have had to learn many non-drug coping skills and practices to cope with symptoms of WD, or even some of our pre-existing symptoms. There is a wealth of information in that regard in our: Symptoms and Self Care Forum and we can further guide you to finding things on the site that are helpful, for now just perhaps look at some of the top pinned topics there. You will also see how the site is laid out from the Home page. On 11/5/2022 at 1:33 AM, Marie2200 said: I have had a tough year since I was diagnosed as being Iron Deficient. Has the Iron you are possibly now taking revved you up, or the Iron deficiency.......I would think the deficiency would fatigue someone. I do think we have a link to a topic in any case: Ferritin too low? Iron supplements? Anemia This is your introduction/journal page where you have now introduced yourself to the community, you can ask questions here regarding your WD or tapering, give updates, and just keep a record of your journey. Communicate with us right here for now, on your Introduction page, while you get familiar with the site. Just one Introduction per member please. Hope you do find some old friends.... as well as make new ones while offering mutual support.
