Welcome to SA, youth5.  I'm sorry you're suffering.

Before we can make any suggestions, we need for you to summarize you medication history in a signature -- drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements.  A vertical list format is best.  The most important information is your beginning dose of Buspar, the date you started it, the date you stopped it, the dose you were on when you stopped it and whether you tapered or stopped cold turkey (stopped abruptly).  Use this link:

Account Settings – Create or Edit a signature.

Once you've completed your signature, we can go from there.

This is your introduction topic -- the place for you to ask questions, record symptoms, share your progress, and connect with other members of the SA community.  I hope you’ll find the information in the SA forums helpful for your situation.  I'm sorry that you are in the position that you need the information, but I am glad that you found us.

There is no way to predict how long withdrawal will take.  It varies completely according to the individual.

When you stopped Buspar on Aug. 20, 2022, was it a cold-turkey off 20mg (abrupt stopping without tapering) and was it after a taper? If it was after a taper, how long was the taper and what was your final dose before stopping the drug?

Once you've answered these questions, we'll be in a better position to advise you.

@youth5

Thank you for the information.

Reinstatement of a very small dose of the drug you were previously taking, in your case, Buspar, is the only known way to alleviate withdrawal symptoms.  It isn't a guarantee of diminished symptoms--sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  The only alternative is to wait out the symptoms and manage the best you can until your central nervous system returns to homeostasis.  As I said, there's no way to predict how long it will take.  The fact that you were on the drug for only a month is a point in your favor.  Please read:

About reinstating and stabilizing to reduce withdrawal symptoms. -- at least the first page of the topic

Reinstatement works most predictably up to 3 months after your last dose.  At eight months out, you're well beyond that time period, but it might still work.

These drugs are very strong and we usually suggest a much smaller dose than your last dose.  Your nervous system has become sensitized and if you take too much, you could overwhelm it and destabilize yourself further.  If you choose to reinstate Buspar, I'd suggest a dose of 1mg Buspar--no more.

The following link tells you how to get the nonstandard dose of 1mg that you'll need if you reinstate.

Tips for tapering off buspirone (Buspar)

We don't recommend a lot of supplements on SA, as many members report being sensitive to them due to our over-reactive nervous systems, but two supplements that we do recommend are magnesium (glycinate is a good form) and omega 3 (fish oil). Many people find these to be calming to the nervous system.

Add in one at a time and at a low dose in case you do experience problems.

@youth5 I was on 15 mg of Buspar 5mg 3 times per day for only 4 weeks. I became very ill while taking the medication the entire 4 weeks and was Cold Turkey off the med on December 18. I went into immediate withdrawals. Currently all of my horrible symptoms have stopped but I still have blurred vision and a light weird feeling in my head. Some morning I feel slight nervousness/shaking in my muscles but its not bad at all.  I am at 4 months in withdrawals.

Don't worry even though there are no definite time line when withdrawals will stop, just keep in mind that they will stop and things will go back to normal. I felt the same way you feel. Wondering will things go back to normal or will all these things go away, they will. I experienced every withdrawal symptom that you can have and they went away. Keep taking it one day at a time. You will be fine. I PROMISE!!!

November 25: Buspar 5mg 3x per day became very ill from side effects....Dec 6th- 16th doctor fast tapered 2.5mg every 3-4 days..... Dec 17th ER doctor Cold turkey at 5mg. Withdrawals Dec19th-current

Hi @youth5, I prefer to answer on your thread, instead of via PM. As to your question about blackseed oil, I’m actually taking it for inflammation for a chronic health issue I have, not for withdrawals.

There’s no supplement really that will get rid of withdrawal symptoms, but some may help a little, like fish oil and magnesium. I see that Gridley gave you some links to those supplements. You start on a small dose of one and up it slowly, and then do the same with the other.

All sorts of brain symptoms are quite common in withdrawals, like feeling wired. Some people get brain zaps too.

Sending hugs🤗

@youth5 I am month 6 of withdrawals and I had all that you are listing and morrrreeeeeee. My head felt really heavy, tight, weird and overall all to pieces. I am still dealing with vision issues, weird head feelings and now I am becoming really confused. I have been tested and all bloodwork done and everything has come back normal so I have to chalk it up to these horrible withdrawals. At one point I thought nothing was going to go away  because I was really bad off. But over time which seemed like forever things started to go away. Now I am battling with these things that I pray leave sooner than later. I would hold off on supplements so that if anything different happens you wont have a hard time trying to figure out where it came from. How long have you been off? What was your dosage and times  per day?
