petemase1992 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Hi all, I started prozac 20mg around June last year (2022). By November I decided to come off them as I didn't feel myself, I was getting irritated very often and angry very easily. Over the next month or so I experienced lots of "brain zaps" and aches and pains. The majority of these things have passed but what is really bothering me now...is COLD FEET! I'm getting obsessed over having bad circulation and keep constantly checking my nail bed on my toes with the nail blanch test. Which is OK and within normal ranges as long as the surrounding environment isn't too cold. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is it a withdrawal symptom? And if so does it have a name? My feet seem to be cold during the day, they can be warmed up through blankets and exercise but it is driving me crazy. I also have very sweaty feet when it gets to night time. I was experiencing night sweats the last week or so but that seems to have calmed down. Now im just left with really cold, icey feet. Is this something anyone else has experienced? I'm really worrying. Thanks Pete.
petemase1992 Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 Hi all. Bit of back story, I was on zoloft last January and switched to prozac around June as it wasn't agreeing with my stomach. All was well on prozac until november, I noticed I was getting really angry and just wasn't myself. I didn't care about much. So I decided to go cold turkey. So I did. I had brain zaps for a few months and they seem to have gone now, the main thing I am dealing with, which has only started in the last few days, maybe a week...is really cold feet during the day...and at night they seem to be really hot and sweaty. I can warm them up no problem, socks, blankets, activity etc. But when I'm trying to relax it's really annoying and being a health anxiety sufferer it just piles on the anxiety ten fold. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with the cold feet side of things? Please somebody let me know if you have had the same thing, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Pete.

Just to help us understand - is it that the temperature of your feet is constantly low or is it that you FEEL that your feet are cold. I have heard of burning feet but not of the opposite. petemase1992 Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 @Onmywayyes I searched the site and found people mentioning the same thing. And sometimes they feel cold to touch...but so does everyone's from time to time lol more so its they feel cold but are a normal temperature to touch. I have also recently quit cannabis and I have found quite a few people mentioning the same thing with that. So it could be withdrawal from either cannabis or prozac. They also seem to sweat a lot in the evenings. Another guy I was talking with on another forum has the same thing and he is also in withdrawal from cannabis. So maybe its that, that is to blame.

CookiePretzel Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 I’ve dealt with this a bit in both my Prozac withdrawal this year and my Lorazepam withdrawal 2 years ago. it was a rad more extreme, it wasn’t just my feet but my whole body, and sometimes I’d be frozen, sometimes I’d be hot. I just couldn’t regular my body temperature it seemed. Maybe a CNS problem? Eventually it affected less and less of my body til it was just extremities like hands and feet. Doesn’t bother me too often these days 1/21 Prescribed 3mg Lorazepam/ day. Fell dependent in 10 days. Attempted 2 CTs before getting smart and tapering over 10 months- .0625mg drop every 3-5 weeks. 2/21 Prescribed 20mg Prozac/ day. 11/21 Finished Lorazepam taper 1/22 unsuccessful Prozac taper (skipping days) 2/22 Reinstated at 20mg daily 5/22 Switch to liquid Prozac 6/22 Begin Prozac taper of .08mg every couple weeks 10/22 Finished Prozac taper. 3 AWFUL days of depression and sickness, then feel fabulous for a couple months. 12/22 Begin windows and waves of depression, panic and hopelessness 6/23 Symptoms stopped worsening but are still present 9/23 Having more good days than bad, symptoms drastically lessening 2/24 Turned a corner and feel healed a great deal
