SevenMonkeys Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Hi- just wanted to introduce myself. Known of this website for awhile but decided to join now because I am trying to start another taper (tried before but didn’t go well) off of Wellbutrin.
SevenMonkeys Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 Anyone have any resources/suggestions on how to find a psych med provider who actually has had experience with assisting/providing guidance with the tapering process??
Moderator Emeritus Onmyway Posted February 17, 2023 Moderator Emeritus Posted February 17, 2023 Dear @SevenMonkeys, welcome to SA. Can you pls create your drug signature following these instructions - this will help us help you better. This is your intro topic and you can post any questions here and a staff member will respond. You only get one intro topic - it helps us keep your info in one place so we can help you better. Please have a look at these threads - they will help you get started with tapering. IT also has a link to a topic on tapering wellbutrin (at the end of the first post). Once you complete your signature someone will be here to help you, OMW "Nothing so small as a moment is insurmountable, and moments are all that we have. SevenMonkeys Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 I don’t know what you mean by create a drug signature. I don’t see any instructions either. I’ve already read through some of the stuff in that thread you included.

j1290 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 @SevenMonkeys Hey there, fellow traveller! I always try to say hello to others going down the Wellbutrin mountain. Looking forward to seeing your signature! A couple things I'd tell myself if I were back at the start. I'd tell myself the IR hits like a frieghtrain, it feels much stronger than the XL and the side effects are extra as well. Ideally I'd find a way to taper on a combination of XL or SR and the IR, like 150mg XL plus 2 x 75mg IR pills and then I'd split one of the IR pills for a total of 262 mg on the first cut, something along those lines. I never got the balance right and went with all 450mg of IR and found they caused migraines and brain fog. I also would tell myself that not all generics are equal, and that I need to be sure the generic IR works for me. My insurance switched me to a cheaper brand generic and it threw me into total WD. I didn't even know that was possible, I thought it was all the same. The hardest part for me was figuring out where to start. Once I got on the right time release and brand, my taper has been pretty uneventful outside of the normal WD symptoms. Best of luck, and hope to see you post often! I am not a doctor and do not offer any medical advice, only my own experience. Consult your physician. 2011-2015 tapered off 300MG of Effexor. Back in the Paxil Progress days.
