Tsointsoin
Hi everyone! I've been looking at this website for a few months and finally decided to actually use it. I'm one various meds: fluoxetine 30mg, reboxetine 2.5mg, and xanax 0.25/0.5mg. I would like to at least cut down on the fluoxetine because of the sexual side effects. I've tried to do a few months ago by going down to 25mg (from 30), but after a month a felt litterally physically sick, weak, etc. So I got myself an oral syringe and from tomorrow morning I planning to take a 20mg tab + 7mg of home-made liquid = 27mg, a reduction of 10%. I will do so for a month and see how it goes. I will keep the reboxetine and xanax at present levels. 2009-10: citalopram ; 2014-2016: fluoxetine 20mg, xanax as needed. Quit on summer 2016 but slow relapse in depression leading to 2018-2021 fluoxetine 20mg + xanax as needed ; 2021-23: depression getting worse: fluoxetine 30mg + reboxetine 2.5mg + xanax 0.25/0.5mg; 2023 February: attempt to taper fluoxetine from 30 go 35 mg. 3 weeks later physical withdrawal symptoms. 2023 March: fluoxetine 30mg reinstated 2023 may: switched by doc to effexor 32.5mg but bad side effects. Going back on 20mg (instead of 30) of fluoxetine after a few weeks 2023 june: massive anxiety and suicidal ideation. Fluoxetine 30mg reinstated. 2023 august: decide to taper reboxetine first: 30mg fluoxetine + 1.25mg reboxetine + xanax as needed (0.25/0.5mg) 2023 september: 30mg fluoxetine + xanax as needed (0.25/0.5mg) 2023 october: 30mg fluoxetine + xanax as needed (0.25/0.5mg) 2023 november: 30mg fluoxetine + xanax as needed (0.25/0.5mg) 2023, 20 november: 27mg fluoxetine (20mg pill + 7mg homemade liquid) + xanax as needed. 2023, 19 december: physical withdrawal symptoms (extreme tiredness, nausea) 2023, 20 december: 30mg fluoxetine reinstated + xanax as needed Link to comment
Tsointsoin
OK so I have barely posted that i encountered a problem: the fluoxetine i have does dilute very easily in water, BUT a big part of it tends to stay at the bottom of the glass... I have tried to shake the glass etc., but it stays like that no matter what. It doesn't turn into an homogenous suspension at all. Any ideas of how to solve this? Moderator Emeritus Addax Posted July 20, 2023 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 20, 2023 (edited) Hi @Tsointsoin. Pretty much all capsules contain fillers. That’s what is not dissolving. The Fluoxetine will have dissolved. Its not anything to worry about. Tsointsoin
Hi and thanks to both of you for your replies!! @Onmyway I've tried to change my signature to include more detail but this was on my phone so not sure it worked. If not I'll complete it again as soon as I'm in front of a computer. Basically the attempts were not so long ago (march then june) but I feel I've recovered from them as I reinstated previous dose fairly quickly. However psychologically I can't say I'm always well. This is part of the reason why I want to cut down on the meds though, because I find them ineffective. However thanks to your question I'm now giving it some more time and thinking before starting. @Addax so this means that I should not worry about the pack of powder that accumulates at the bottom of the glass as soon as I stop shaking it, right? The fluoxetine will have remained suspended? (Sorry, tried to attach a picture for clarity but it's too heavy) Many thanks again! 2009-10: citalopram ; 2014-2016: fluoxetine 20mg, xanax as needed. Yes. That stuff is inert and won’t dissolve. Tsointsoin
Hi everyone! So since my last post i successfully stopped reboxetine. However i've tried to cut down fluoxetine by 10% making homemade liquid and this has failed, i experienced withdrawal after a month at 27mg (down from 30mg). I am feeling pretty discouraged right now. How can this be explained? And what to do from here? Maybe i made the liquid in a wrong way? Moderator Emeritus Addax Posted January 5 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 5 I understand why you would feel discouraged. But It’s important to keep in mind that your experience doesn’t mean you won’t be able to taper, or that it will be a horrible experience. Like you said, it may how you made your solution, resulting in a greater than 10% reduction. Or if you switched from capsule to liquid, or your prescription is from a different manufacturer than the last one, or 10% is too large a drop right now. Your system may still have been sensitized from the discontinuation of the Reboxetine. How long ago did you completely discontinue the Reboxetine? Make sure you’re making your solution properly, and when you feel stable again, make a smaller reduction than the 10%. You can try 5% or even less. If it goes well, then you can try a larger cut next time. It’s frustrating and disheartening when it feels like there’s a set back. It’s just a pause, and you can move on and proceed… just a little more cautiously for now. 1988-2012: Prozac @ 60mg (with a few stops and starts) Fall 2012: Returned to 40mg after discontinuing and horrid withdrawal Fall 2013: 40mg Fluoxetine, added 150mg Wellbutrin to treat fatigue Winter 2014: Attempting to taper both (too fast) April 2014: 9mg Fluoxetine + 37.5 Wellbutrin Summer 2014: 8 mg Fluoxetine + 0 Wellbutrin (way too fast a drop) Late summer/Early Fall 2014: Debilitating Withdrawal symptoms Fall 2014 - Wellbutrin successfully kicked to the curb but… Oct- Dec 2014: Panicked reinstatement of Fluoxetine ->30mg - held for 5yrs Jan 2021: taper to 20mg Fluoxetine then tapering by 1mg every 2-3 months Fall 2022 - held at 10mg->December 2022: 9mg->Feb 2023: 8mg ->March 2023: brassmonkey slide begins: 7.8mg -> 7.6 -> 7.4->2 week hold (April)->7.2->7mg->6.8->2 week hold->6.6-> 1-month hold ->(June)-6.5->4-week hold-> (July)-6.4 (discontinued brassmonkey slide and slowed taper)-> (Aug)-6.2->(Sept)-6.0->(Oct)-5.9->(Nov)-5.8->(Dec)-5.7->wave!->(Jan)-5.8->(Feb)-6mg and holding.
