Abracadabra: Getting off Pristiq

Hi!  I discovered this site several months ago when I was trying to figure out why I was feeling crazy, having so many headaches, heart palpitations, restless leg feelings (but like in my whole body?) endless sweating despite being cold, all kinds of things. I was reading someone's post and they had mild serotonin syndrome and I believe I did also. I spoke with my doctor who said "oh sure, just go down to 50mg." After reading in here I thought that was a bad plan, but tried it, and the following day felt like maybe I was going to die, so I wrote myself out a plan based on information I gathered here, and took it to my doctor.

I have the best doctor because when I've researched something and  tell him what I want to do, he supports me. I'm much better about that now than I was in my 20s, and I wish I had done more research and never gotten on this medication.

I am feeling so much better on the 50mg, but I want to see who I am not on medication. I have a lot of anxiety also, about what if I can't get it for some reason? I stop being a functioning human, and I am the only parent to beautiful 11 year old daughter and the only trusted adult to a 17 year old foster son. I have to function!

I was just getting on here to read, but I thought I would post and maybe it would help. I am so irritable. It just started about a week ago, is there anything I can do to help this? Everything annoys me and I can't even stand to be in my own body right now.

I take several types of magnesium, fish oil, iron, a number of other supplements because I don't absorb nutrition the best. I go to the gym at least 4 times a week and work on drinking water, but I'm the worst at that. I eat fairly well for the most part.

Someone said something about coffee making things worse, but I couldn't find anything else about that. I love coffee / is it making me irritated AF?

thanks for reading 😂🫶🏻

Welcome, @Abracadabra

Good to hear you find your doctor supportive. As I understand it, you'd like to go off Pristiq.

Looking at your drug history, it looks like you were taking too much Pristiq, meaning more than 50mg, for a long time -- May 2021-June 2023. Did you have these symptoms all that time?

FYI here are Tips for tapering off desvenlafaxine (Pristiq)
