Lange92
Been on bupropion and sertaline since around 2015. Sertaline 100 mg and bupropion 150 mg. I had severe depression come on after life changes. Had a round of ect and it did help. Since then continued these meds to “prevent “ a relapse. I have mainly done okay on them other than I never really feel great, just decent. Recently I stopped taking them because I ran out and had gone 2-3 days sometimes without taking sometimes a bit longer just forgetting without I’ll effects. I was feeling mostly normal for a few weeks then severe anxiety came over me and irrrational and overwhelming. Went right back on and had effects of dry mouth and dry throat 2 months later improved but still some form of dry mouth. Not sure if the physical effects are from restarting or withdrawal as I didn’t have them when I stopped. Due to things I’ve heard of SSRIs in the long term I am interested in discontinuation at some point. I have not had a major depressive episode in years, just the anxiety. Thanks all Edited October 16, 2023 by manymoretodays name to topic title Link to comment
Administrator Altostrata Posted October 17, 2023 Administrator Share Posted October 17, 2023 Welcome, @Lange92 How has your symptom pattern changed since you reinstated both drugs? How's your sleep? If you mean the anxiety from going off your drugs, that would have been withdrawal symptoms, not a psychiatric disorder. Sleep was fine, and no physical symptoms other than the anxiety. Yes it was worse like you said due to the meds helping it. Had Dry mouth when I went back on still have it. Otherwise fine . Maybe way my body reacts is less adverse than many people. I do think I have the possibly to maybe someday taper off without too much adverse physical effects, however due to the shock of my body from this not soon and would ask a doctor or psychriatrist first. Administrator Altostrata Posted October 19, 2023 Administrator Share Posted October 19, 2023 Good luck finding a doctor or psychiatrist who knows anything about tapering psychiatric drugs. FYI Tips for tapering off buproprion (Wellbutrin, SR, XR, XL) Tips for tapering off sertraline (Zoloft) Before further discussion, Please summarize your drug and withdrawal history in your signature This is not medical advice.
