Farm24: Twitching, muscle tension, heavy body

I only slept an hour last night. Split up into 3, 20 min sections.

After I took that supplement I felt extreme agitation and kept crying.  That night the hypnic jerks were so bad I got to sleep after 6 hours and slept three.  But now I can't stay asleep more than 20 minutes.  I'm terrified. 

Hi @Farm24- I had a similar experience with magnesium last week.  You will recover.  I think we all make mistakes along the way in this journey- we're human!

 

Remind yourself that crappy sleep is awful and extremely unpleasant, but it won't kill you.  That's my mantra- I rarely sleep well, and even when I sleep objectively 'well' I don't feel rested.  It's brutal but I've learned acceptance.

Thank you. It brought this awful pressure with jt. I have pressure down my back, back of my head, arms, even my tongue.  I'm terrified. I have two little kids to raise and I just want to be well again.  My poor daughter has saw me cry all day today

I have a daughter as well, and she has seen her mom go through all sorts of 'crazy' over the years (no, I do not actually think I'm crazy, but for lack of a better term... I'm sure to someone that doesn't know me at all, they would think I'm crazy and unstable).  I think it's important to be truthful with our kids, in an age appropriate way.  Kids are surprisingly insightful and understanding.  My daughter is a teenager now, and she just says F*ck those drugs lol!  But if she were younger, I would likely just tell her that mommy has been taking a medication for a long time, and with some medications it's hard to stop taking them.  I'm working on stopping them, and it's making me feel really bad.  That's why I'm crying/scared/yelling- whatever you need to explain.

Yeah. She is 12. She told me she isn't a little kid.  My kids were just very sheltered kids.  But I guess this is life.

That's so cute!  They want to grow up so badly, don't they?  I think you could definitely trust her to understand a basic explanation of what you're going through.  Sheltered or not, I think she might surprise you with her depth of compassion and understanding. 🤗

2 hours of sleep last night. The cervical spine muscles were knotted up.  Shortly followed by back and then the legs.  It really feels like it's getting worse. Can it be dystonia if it doesn't cause repetitive movements, just muscle contraction? The muscle underneath the base of my skull was as big as a fist.  I used my sons drumsticks to push on it this morning. It hurt so bad, but hopefully it will break it up

Where are your contractions? I’m going through something extremely similar and I haven’t been able to pinpoint if it’s withdrawal or continued serotonin syndrome I had when i discontinued 6 months ago. My fingers and toes move by themselves at times and I’ve been getting muscle contractions all over including face and tongue for 6 months.

Back of my head, n3ck and sometimes calves.  My hands and toes do that too. Mostly at night.  I think there is an issue in my joints. They get incredibly lax sometimes.

Do you have any other problems along with this, also did these movements occur only after you stopped lex?

I never had a health issue before lex. Many of these occurred after I started it.  I also have heavy head. Some joint pain. Dry mouth/nose.

The pain seems to be trending words.  My neck muscles are pulling on my jaw and the back of my scalp. Last night for the first time it felt hard to breath, taking a deep breath hurt.  I don't feel like I see many success stories on the muscle pain and I'm really losing hope.  It is so tight around my ears.  I stretched for 2 hours this morning.  I even have tension in my eyes, and sensitivity to noise. My ears feel tense. I'm not sure how that can even be.

Sounds like what I’m going through, literally I get tightness in my face, tongue , cheeks back of head, and eyes. When my eyes are tight my pupils are dilated. Jaw clenching as well.  I get twitching all over my body and severe restlessness/agitation , nausea and dizziness.

I have body twitches and pain too. These are related to inflammation and the build up of toxins. 

Whenever I'm in pain, I drink a dessert spoon of olive oil, because it's anti-inflammatory. The pain fades right away. Eating other anti-inflammatory food also helps, like ginger tea, green tea, salmon, turmeric tea etc. So does keeping away from inflammatory food like simple carbs, added sugar, diary, gluten, MSG, trans fats oil, processed food, chemical preservatives etc.

It's important to help your liver function well, as it is the main organ of detoxification in the body. A diet of lean meats, cruciferous vegetables, fatty fish, extra virgin olive oil (or other healthy fats), and berries will improve liver health.

The problem is that a lot of these symptoms stack up and make everything worse.

 

For example, the muscle pains are bad, these then affect your ability to sleep, lack of sleep makes everything even worse.

 

Some of the advice in this thread about things you can do to aid with muscle contractions might help. You could potentially also try massages, vagus nerve stimulation etc. to try to get your body to relax but they may or may not be effective.

Developing a frozen shoulder and tennis elbow.  My neck is so tight and stiff.  My shoulders are practically up to my ears.

Wish I had never taken these meds.  Heavy feeling again today in my body.  Last night I had burning pain in hands, I had to pee every hour, I felt burning in the spine area and hypnic jerks.  My hypnic jerk this time was my throat twitching and shutting on me. I am a Mom and was so active before this.  I can't even work and worry I won't be able to care for my kids anymore.

Joint pain now.  Almost burns in one set of fingers when I extend them.  Went away after waking.  Muscle tension in shoulders/back/neck.  I'm so worn out.  I want myself back.  Burning in muscles when I stretch them.

I am 7 months off now. I only took lexapro for 3 months.  I feel damaged.  

 

After getting around this morning my muscles are all loose and heavy again.

The muscle pains are really bad. Recognizes most things. Muscle tension/pain in shoulders/back/neck. Back of my head, behind ears, tightness in my face, jaw. Pain in the muscles, burning and muscle weakness and heavy feeling.

Don't understand how it is possible, the substance created so much damage.

Does anyone know the chances of getting better over time or getting worse? If the muscles can heal or are they destroyed.
8 months off and the muscle pain just keeps getting worse.

I go from the point of feeling like everything is so tight to it being too loose. I am pretty sure I have bursitis in my ankles. But I'm not going in

I alternate between numbness/heavy feeling and burning muscle/tension/joint pain.  It is two extremes. Has yours mellowed out AT ALL?

@Farm24. I promise you that it does get better.   At 7 months off i thought id never heal too but here i am finally healing.  I had horrible muscle problems litterally from head to feet.

Thank you so much for this.  I missed my son's game tonight. The muscle tension turned into the muscles getting weak and not contracting again.  Feels like I'm dragging anchors. Then I got head pressure.  It is so scary. We were a normal family before this...well as normal as can be anyway.
