Myjourney5: Went off zoloft

Myjourney5

Recommended Posts

Hi! I used to be on 50mg zoloft, and started to tapper down 10% every four weeks, and when it came to 6 mg I tried to go to zero. Didnt work, got a LOT of strong symptoms. I went on it again and have taken a quarter of an 25mg. And this tablets have no score in it for splitting. This I have been taking for about a year. So I have alfeady been through a shakey period with no concistansy, and symtpoms a long the way. However, I stopped taking it two weeks ago, and havent got too mutch symptoms. I have a hedaiche, nightmares, anger and sadness, a bit anxiety and strange feelings in my eyes. So what do you think? Should I prepare for worse or stronger symptoms or is this ”it”? Because this ”it” I can handle, Im so used to this that it feels normal. For someone that felt good and then got all my symtoms at once would feel a lot different I think.

As it seems you know, tapering by a maximum of 10% per month is what is recommended on this site: Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

If you go faster than 10% per month or drop to 0mg from 6mg, the WD symptoms may be very unpleasant: Daily Checklist of Antidepressant Withdrawal Symptoms (PDF)

Accuracy and consistency are so important. You could use an electronic scale such as the Gemini-20 to help in this process.

So you've dropped from ~6mg to 0mg again? I tried that several times with the same AD prior to finding this site...never again.

I'd refer back to the two links I gave you above and reflect on your experience last time you jumped to 0mg.

I would say they are not stronger, but they switched character a bit. The tingeling in the face started two days ago. Maybe I got a little bit angrier but other than that, its the same. I recall reading somewhere? It gets worse after three weeks, so its a bit psychological terror to go around waiting for it to hit. That itself bring me a lot of stress.

Tingling in the face ain't gonna hurt ya - it is harmless. It is annoying yes, but believe me is one I would rather cope with that some of the other symptoms I have read about on this site from ppl taking Sert. I used to have burning on the face when using Sertraline, there was nothing I could do but ride it out. As for anger, that is a natural emotion as part of being human. I still get angry when I am agitated for example or become impatient, and also when I am stressed. I am also sometimes resentful of why I took these medicines in the first place. I get it out of my system and get on with what I need for the day. It is hard, ngl.

Write here whenever you want. The site is quite big and can take a long time to get used to. Find the article you need, maybe 1-2 per day and don't overload yourself with info. Exercise is good, that will help clear the mind. Will it get better or worse ? Eventually, it does get better. At the moment you aren't bedridden and are able to do these productive acitivties for yourself and your mind. Only I would say is try not to overload yourself with too much exercise and give yourself a break when you need.

It's only been 15 days for you so check in here regularly if your situation does change.

Yes, but make no mistake, I have wd symtoms, a lot of them. But do to the no consistency of dose the last year, I have had a lot of them for a long time, the tingeling in the face however, is new.
Right now Im suffering with bad sleep, anxiety, mood swings/storms, panic attacks, rage, stress, headache, migraine, fever, pain in neck, depressed feelings and thoughts, tingeling in the eyes and the face, sensitivity to sound and light.

The anger, isnt an issue when it comes to feeling it. The issue occures when I scream at my three year old for no good reason. The bad conscience is enough to make me depressed.

Hi, how has it been since you went to zero?

2007 Zoloft 25mg (2008 50mg)

2022 May - Dr wanted to increase to 62,5mg. Misinterpreted by Dr, it was tolerance/side effects. Felt sick, went back to 50mg efter 2 weeks.

2022 Oct - Reducing dose to 37,5mg (from 50mg). WD in few days, advised to go back to 50 - I then got adverse paradoxical reaction

2022 Oct - Zoloft 50mg adverse reaction

2023 May 5th - Reducing dose to 25mg (directly from 50mg by Dr, difficult WD).

2023 Aug 1st - Reducing dose to 12,5mg

2023 Oct 10th - Removed dose from 12mg to zero by Dr. Reinstated 2,5mg citalopram after 3 months, bad reaction. Reinstated 0,5mg zoloft for 6 days after 7 months, didn’t work. In terrible WD.
