Lalauchan
I started taking antidepressants when I was 21 after a bad breakup. I started with escitalopram and then moved to venlafaxine. I spent one year outside my home country and I experienced high anxiety there. I was then put on clomipramine and mirtazapine. Once back to my home country, I was taken off mirtazapine and stayed on clomipramine. I tried stopping a few years ago and experienced severe withdrawal symptoms. My doctor told me that I would probably never be able to stop but I don't accept that statement. I am on 20mg since yesterday (from 25mg). Moderator Erimus Posted July 25 Moderator Share Posted July 25 Hello, and welcome to Surviving Antidepressants. We are a peer support forum to assist in tapering off psychiatric drugs safely, or recovering from psychiatric drug withdrawal. This topic is for anything relating to you, and any questions you have. Please do not start another topic. We recommend tapering by no more than 10% of your CURRENT dose each month, to limit withdrawal symptoms. E.g. 10mg --> 9mg --> 8.1mg --> 7.29mg. Your first reduction from 25mg to 20mg is 20%, so I would suggest you do not make another change for at least two months. After that, you can begin reducing by no more than 10% of your current dose each month. All the answers you are looking for regarding tapering and antidepressant withdrawal are on this site. Please search around and continue to read as much as you can manage. Use the site search function to search for specific words or phrases, such as drugs or symptoms. Lalauchan
Hello, I was also put on mirtazapine and clomipramine back in 2016. When I got back to the UK, the doctors said it was a strange mix so they removed the mirtazapine. So far so good, now that you mention it I also have a runny nose and some weakness but nothing unmanageable. I also exercise regularly (at least 4 times a week) and even though the period has been quite stressful (been laid off + family crisis), I believe I am managing quite well. I think it's important to notice what could cause symptoms but not obsess over it. Take things one day at a time and be kind to yourself.
