Nimrod: Prozac Withdrawl

Recommended Posts

I was on Citalopram for many years and it worked great for me. In February, I switched to Prozac (Fluoxetine). Then in August I started having bad anxiety/panic attacks. So Thursday my doctor told me to go back to the Citalopram. I stopped the Prozac (40mg) cold turkey and immediately switched over to Citalopram (40mg) again. Doctor said it was fine.
I think I am struggling with the withdrawal symptoms of Prozac - night sweats, anxiety/hopelessness, fatigue, headache, nausea to name a few.
When does it get better? 😩 I just want my Citalopram to work again.
Both Prozac was 40mg Citalopram I am on 40mg

— I do want to add, the only reason I switched from Citalopram to Prozac was because I was having mood swings so I thought I would try something new but it ended up being from PCOS 😅

Name to title

2011 - Citalopram

Increased dosage when I was going through pregnancy and post partum to 40mg. (2016 & 2022)
2022 - February started Prozac (Fluoxetine) 40mg
          - Quit Prozac cold turkey 8/1 and immediately got back on Citalopram (40mg)

2022 - August started Metformin ER 500mg (twice a day)

The only reason I switched from Citalopram to Prozac was because I was having mood swings so I thought I would try something new but it ended up being from PCOS/Insulin Resistance.

Hello, and welcome to Surviving Antidepressants. We are a peer support forum to assist in tapering off psychiatric drugs safely, or recovering from psychiatric drug withdrawal.

It can take a number of weeks and months to stabilise on a drug after reinstatement. You are only a few days in. Things will improve with time.

If you need any help with tapering moving forward, do not hesitate to ask. Beyond that, we do not provide support for trying new medication.

Active Monday-Friday UK time
