xamendrummerx: Permanent heart problems since my accidental overdose on the tricyclic antidepressant amitriptyline

If I don't take my medication, which is mainly Atenolol (along with regular exercise), I get constant PACs and something like SVT racing heart symptoms daily since my 2008 overdose. I've had every heart test they wanted to do and they found nothing wrong! Anybody have any clue why amitriptyline caused permanent changes in my heart with no explanation on what's the physical cause? All I can come up with is it's because I never exercised back then and my heart couldn't take the stress of the overdose, which put my heart into a very high rate of abnormal beats that didn't feel like regular beats at all. It was going very fast but with very soft beats, not pounding! This didn't feel like anything I had ever felt before. It felt very dangerous.

I took my pills too close together and it counted as a double dose, and no one warned me this can actually kill me with this class of drugs. I didn't overdose on purpose at all, but they classified me as a suicide case if you can believe it.

I can't seem to get any information at all from any doctor or get any answers about why.

Zoloft cold turkey in early '07. Survived withdrawal with other meds.

Hypersensitive to certain products/food/chemicals ever since. I'm not imagining things since they occur the day after I take them or tried something new the day before.

Hello, and welcome to Surviving Antidepressants. We are a peer support forum to assist in tapering off psychiatric drugs safely, or recovering from psychiatric drug withdrawal.

As we are not medical professionals we cannot assist in managing real health problems. Anything we do say would be highly speculative and not from a position of knowledge.

Psychiatric drugs impact our nervous system, which controls all the operations in our body.
