Please may I ask anyone for help specifically about a water taper.

I have chatted with a fellow Seroquel withdrawal person who melts down the 25 pill in 100ml of water and removes 10% or 10ml a taper drop. Although the pill is 25 it weighs 75.

When I was withdrawing from urbanol I used a nail file to reduce, this seroquel pill is tiny!

There are suggestions and links in here:

Be aware that when making your own liquid, it is only stable for a maximum of 24 hours therefore it is best to make it daily.

I know I read of a member that got his mental health records changed by being able to convince the diagnosing doctor otherwise. This was after they came off ADs and present abundant medical proofs.

Hi @ang123! This is the stuff you will need. You can spend more or less depending on where you buy and what you want.

  1. Stir plate- This is very helpful to get the pill dissolved and uniformly mixed up. This one is reasonably priced; there are better units. It comes with magnetic stir bars that go in the liquid to mix, so you don't need to buy them also. https://www.amazon.com/INTLLAB-Magnetic-Stirrer-7PCS-Retriever/dp/B088SF2CZP/ref=sr_1_6?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.bOzGfN9Vqkz16yp0tUgwYJ4cukpOVcvpvbj6-eL1BkUr-NkoJp188YRxK_g4tr4NFVCRy8Y6yfSYKPYTpnbUSlHwUcCMznNgTyR_hUaFjwlCwkXm8uPlG-JvG21RIkpymsa-FP3gvnQmx4e6fLO_vY1CdmNXwL0uSc9ml8RTw7b2MQklgFBbE77BTwPZFLe3ZDHeyMptwQBNEJK8o3IJcAuPEASrevXD9D7uLZg7p9M.wn0UxDHqj7uCuki0z6DLVqCpkZo7eo2RpFn23NAvOTU&dib_tag=se&keywords=stir+plate&qid=1729025680&sr=8-6#customerReviews
  2. Graduated Cylinder—You need this to measure your water. I use 25 ML of water mixed with 25 mg of immediate-release pill for a 1 mg per ml dose; the math is easy that way. This set comes with beakers for mixing in too. https://www.amazon.com/SUPERLELE-Graduated-Cylinder-Beaker-Droppers/dp/B07PDVSL9N/ref=asc_df_B07PDVSL9N/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693270340446&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13363400606998030981&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1019250&hvtargid=pla-752805752558&psc=1&mcid=606e63e4454d3f9d8b88288d3a233e6b
  3. Pipette- This is used to measure your mixed dose; I drink the dose right from the pipette. (You could use this instead of a graduated cylinder to measure water, but I like having a graduated cylinder.)They make ones more accurate than this one, which is way more precise than using a graduated cylinder when cutting doses down to .05 ml or less. I like a 10ml size, but they make them larger (25ml down to 1 ml or less.) I have been using a 10 ml for over a year, and it's working well. https://www.amazon.com/Eisco-Borosilicate-Serological-Class-research/dp/B014LBANCS/ref=sr_1_12_sspa?crid=1I9DEBN0IZMHF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.uFwW38-4whA-E3OnEGJByZx_KK5eM1pOd1EsCPev4ozIztdNfTURKA2yFlCPNWVdPjvPnMYkWT310CuFznnjNYdkqEJY-Pow0YRbKyNDFZUFkaAzIgdkQR49PiD0bptA0Z8EOImxb89vQ-juLY-7orolBjm7odlH4ygOylf9WYvP-K1eYenQwHyupegkcTbOoiIFhWS-o-8s0V-y4huMjFrjxq6Xc9cUDQ6glDn_ZtMg3Ktty_6uEf0ThZxItzKHlB9SXAExjcTIgj1-SAYyOFhTbXVKsXgzOCWMvytEtHc.j2qBVyE09GBhVcpoVByoIVa3D2xWXJ1UkhB3wiXU6pI&dib_tag=se&keywords=pipette+10+ml&qid=1729026173&s=industrial&sprefix=pipette+10+ml%2Cindustrial%2C125&sr=1-12-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGY&psc=1
  4. Pipette bulb- This is used to draw the liquid dose into the pipette. You can do it the old-fashioned way and suck on the pipette to fill it, but this makes it easier and more precise to measure your dose. They make different styles, this one is simple. https://www.amazon.com/Eisco-Labs-Pipet-Pipette-rubber/dp/B00JQMXPAU/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=UCEELJUA3O96&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fhWpnOFvni9uLyQ6MfKhBST4pF86hv2uMr17IFohr33PsSjNe5dSSXJvWUS4FYMoKCtmWLc724Aa458gdeK-bDbA7z1yjWKwvKYG3xPmFGckALXdDWmQQPVQXzHUmEZf2CQ7oQ55_RAoZRC8myELROcc6AOonGwg7L7P3ZaNGrx0ZVlB6dpDv16uCZZjfMa-mbO3YKrFcSY2cPPnR12BDAlowAEne8uPXy5ZXXuNOfefwh7Qt2P209Cebi3FTi-2QYC5qc5DXXILe--IgQBj2yODsmawFhC1Xb7rlNXuoW8.18xTFvDAx_ytQPYqYivb6lJ6WzzbOy60TiCMJi2vJCY&dib_tag=se&keywords=pipette+bulb&qid=1729026453&s=industrial&sprefix=pipette+bulb%2Cindustrial%2C130&sr=1-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1#customerReviews

Again, I have found a 25 mg instant-release pill the easiest to use. I mix 25 ml of water and the 25 mg pill in a beaker with a magnetic stir bar for 7 minutes (for a 1 to 1 ratio), about the time it takes to dissolve well. Mix at a slow speed and watch for it to "dissolve." There will still be pill media in the water; it will look like salt. No worries, it's mixed, and the dose will be uniform. I currently take a 25 mg pill and a dose of 10 ml of titrated liquid for a total dose of 35 mg.

As you may have read in Feralcatman's story, go slow. I have found his advice to be a huge help to me. I felt trapped and wanted to get this stuff out of my system. Once you get rolling...slowly, you will see progress. You want to do it in a fashion so you don't harm your nervous system and you can still get rest. You have joined one of the best resources on the internet. We are all in the same boat, so we try to help as much as possible. If you have questions or need help, please don't hesitate to ask. I try to check this site daily. I don't know much or give advice, but I know how to titrate Seroquel! Take care, M.

That was very kind of Mittenraised. I know some prefer using a syringe instead of a pipette. I never even heard of a stir plate which is pretty cool. 👍

@Mittenraised Thanks so much for providing the info on your technique.

So did you swap your 50mg XR dose with a 50mg IR dose once you passed 50mg in total during your taper? I'm just reading your signature block (54.9mg 5/31/24, 50mg 6/15/24, 45mg 7/16/24, 40.5mg 8/16/24, 36mg 9/16/24.)

2007 Anxiety and depression diagnosis: 2007 Effexor 37.5mg capsule; 2008 Seroquel XR 100mg (for sleep)

2012 BI-Polar II diagnosis: 2007 Effexor 37.5mg capsule; 2008 Seroquel XR 100mg; 2012 Lamotrigine 200mg; 2012 Abilify 5mg

Tapering:

2021 Abilify(stopped taking)

2022 Effexor (taper Nov 2022 - April 2023)

2023 Lamotrigine (taper June 2023 - December 2023; 200mg to 150mg; 150mg to 100mg; 100mg to 50mg)

2024 Seroquel (taper January 2024 - July 2024; January to May 50mg; June split XR tablet to 25mg)

2024 Cetirizine 10mg (July 2024 using to alleviate histamine withdrawal from Seroquel)

It's great to hear you're feeling grateful for the community as you prepare to start your taper! Since you've tapered quickly to 250 mg, it might be helpful to take it slow moving forward to minimize any withdrawal symptoms. Sharing your experiences and any challenges you face can be valuable, and don’t hesitate to ask for advice or support from others who have been through similar situations.

Hi @stevew31, yes, that is exactly what I did. One thing you may want to do that I didn't is not taper the month you make the switch from XR to IR. I found that the IR made me more drowsy, so it actually worked in my favor.

It's the following week I need to be watching for symptoms of withdrawal. My body seems to revolt 3 to 8 days in to a taper.

The nice thing about a water taper is you can make very small adjustments if your body won't tolerate the 10%.

Hi @ang123,

I have found my Dr. doesn't want to admit or discuss how dangerous seroquel is. He tried gaslighting me, saying I'd go "off the rails" if I quit taking it. I have never been diagnosed with any issues other than insomnia as a result of a pain medication addiction....another story.

To me, this is the best, safest place to be. I hope your hold at 250mg levels off soon and you can safely stabilize.

@Mittenraisedquite stable for the last few months. I am having trouble trusting doctors in general. I also see that the taper I was on is definitely very very much too quickly. I have also found information stating that even if you have never experienced psychosis if you are tapering it is possible to become psychotic. This is a nightmare. I have spoken with a new therapist who is a gp. I sadly wish that I had found her before I went to the hospital. I think that maybe I will see her again to get more information about the DNA test. I really wish I could cry but it seems to be an effect of the Seroquel at this dose I can't cry. In about 3 weeks I will hopefully start tapering.

If anyone has any information to share I would greatly appreciate it.

I think I am tapering on the tipping point where seroquel is no longer affecting the D2 receptors. I have been wondering about the rate of tapering for this dose, the document that I read from Mark Horrowits has a table of dosage reductions for antipsychotics that correlate with the down regulation rates of the D2 receptors. I am wondering if I should micro taper through the 50 between my present dose and the mostly antihistamine level of 200? I am considering tapering off 5ml/g every 2/3 months hyperbolicly until 200 hold for 3months and then follow the guidelines in the document?
