Hii Everyone, 

 

I have taken vortioxetine 10mg for 2 months and stop taken it and my doctor prescribed Lexapro 15mg for 1 month and 20mg for 3 months.and i started withdrawing from lexapro and Currently now I am in 5MG Lexapro.  I am currently at 5mg and having severe waves and windows of withdrawal symptoms like DPDR and feeling of low motivation. 

 

Can I Withdraw it down to 2.5mg and then down to 1.25mg dose and then can i stop taken it.

 

I am unsure about whether I should follow this approach to taper my meds..

So you have been taking an AD (two different types) for ~ 6 months in total?

It might be best to pause your taper and let your body catch up.

Slow is the way to go with tapering. Why taper by 10% of my dosage? The reductions should get smaller and smaller each month, for example: 10mg, 9mg, 8.1mg, 7.3mg etc. This process involves a degree of trial and error, as there is no way of predicting how an individual will respond. Importantly, if you develop unpleasant side effects from tapering, halt the taper, give yourself time to settle, and once stable, taper more slowly and by smaller amounts moving forward. The experience of others suggests that the lower you go in dose, the slower you need to go with tapering.

Overall I am planning to do 15% reduction... Can IT BE SAFE ??.. 

 

There is no liquid dose in our surrounding hospital so i use pill cutter to cut into half and quarter and taken..

 

I am unsure about whether I should follow this approach to taper my meds..

I Always Think more like living in a dream state( I Accept it but not completely recover.)..... OR After Complete taper of lexapro (IT WILL GO ???)...

Did you have this symptom when you were talking 7.5 mg?

You have been tapering way too fast. Your body is destabilized from this.

 

Do not continue to taper until your body resolved this issue. In fact I would suggest going back to 7.5 mg till it does.

 

Also you cannot just use a pill cutter and eyeball the dose. You need to be weighing the pills and taking exactly the same weight every day using a sharp knife or one sided razor to shave the pill. Many buy a Gem 20 jewelry scale on Amazon for this purpose. The pills have filler in them so you need to take that into consideration when weighing and dividing the pill.

I think have this symptom from May onwards. At that time I have completely lost my mind. My mind is completely blank I don't know why I am feeling this way. I became completely changed and started thinking the world around is fake and my surroundings are not real. When i am enter into my home it feels different that time.((My way of thinking is completely changed at that time)). At that Time I don't know what is dpdr..when I search in YouTube I found it was dpdr, So I reinstated my drug to 15mg at May 8 to May 18 (10 days) Still I feel the same ... So I started thinking It doesn't due to Lexapro it may be due to benzo, So I tapered down to 10mg Lexapro at May 20 at I take 10MG Lexapro for next 3 months, When I tapered 10mg to 7.5  I didn't get any single symptoms and nothing change in dpdr, and also when I tapered 10mg to 7.5mg Still I didn't get any withdrawal symptoms.. When tapered down from 7.5 to 5 also I didn't get any withdrawal problems...

 

While I changed my drug from vortioxetine to lexapro, I have taken 0.5mg zapiz for 40 days in between 18/09/23 to 28/02/24.I tapered it down to 0.25 and stop abruptly at end of february and start taken proponolol. My doctor prescribed proponolol 3- 10mg tablets per day. I reduced to 2 tablet to 1 tablet per day and then I stop it.

 

Proponolol helps me lot to ease with benzo withdrawal problems but after I stop proponolol I get more nervous and tense,hand shivering,Sleep problems, My anxiety is increased then I start taken magnesium bisglycinate for 20 days then it goes to normal after some days.

 

So is there any other solution to this problem?

We just don't know because you were changing doses for Lexapro as well. It may be withdrawal from the vortioxetine also. Probably a combination of all three.

This is not a 10% reduction. It is 10% of the current dose. For example from 5 mg it would be 5 mg minus .5 mg so 4.5 mg, then 4.5mg- .45mg so 4.05 mg.

Accuracy is important... will you get a scale or make your own liquid?

Why would vortioxetine help? You have stopped this drug and risk kindling if you go back on it.

Why would vortioxetine help? You have stopped this drug and risk kindling if you go back on it. 

You might get answers on BenzoBuddies.

You've received some good info from @LostInCanada.

 

I see no reason to add in vortioxetine. Adding it back in will not necessarily help any of your symptoms.

 

There would be no way to know for sure if your symptoms are from reducing lexapro or zapiz; it looks like you were reducing both simultaneously?

 

I would hang tight and wait for symptoms to settle, or as already mentioned, you could go back up to 7.5mg lexapro and hold. I would make a decision about lexapro sooner rather than later though, because your body will already be adapting to the lower dose.

@LotusRising I'm not suffering from dpdr so intensely. It is just a thought. When i accept the thought and do some activity it usually fades away..

Someday in a month or week it creates a huge suffering or comes like a huge setback.. When I'm in 10mg of lexapro for 3-4 months it creates more fear and distress like how to taper lexapro with kind of thing or What if this derealization thing never fades away like that. After i taper my drug from 10mg to 7.5mg and i get confidence to reduce my drug after 2 weeks to 5mg . I feel more better than 10mg. I feel like some burden is gone. So I simply accept this dpdr is due to benzo or I accept this thought it is normal from tapering down..

 

So i simply taper my 7.5mg lexapro to 5mg lexapro drug from 26/09/2024 to 08/10/2024 only 2 weeks. And I Feel the same no withdrawal symptom and nothing from 5mg lexapro.

 

What if I reduce my drug from 5mg to 2.5mg of lexapro?? And i see how it feels like and also i will get some clear idea about is this due to lexapro or zapiz?

 

Bro I currently finished my collage at March and searching for a job. I never feel the dpdr symptom in collage.

SO the dpdr symptom is maybe due to Finishing collage or lexapro or Zapiz or LOW MOTIVATION to get a JOB..

 

I thought Vortioxetine may help with brain fog state. It gives some motivation. Although when i taper vortioxetine abruptly at 12th nov, it doesn't create that much problem. Simple headache and lethargy that kind of thing only..

Stick to the maximum 10% as mentioned above.

 

WD can sneak up on you, which can take a long time to recover from.

Still now i didn't have any depression or anxiety or any issues(I somehow manage problems like job). So i thought to reduce to 2.5mg and see what happens to my body.. If 2.5mg taper is successful then i thought to reduce to 1.25mg to 0.625mg to 0.3mg to stop or else if i got stuck in 2.5mg then i reinstate it to 5mg or 10mg to slowly taper.

 

But Now i am currently decided to slowly taper like this 

From 5mg (Stable) to 3.75mg to 2.5mg to 1.875mg to 1.25mg to 0.625mg to 0.3mg..(It is based on less than 10% reduction in receptor occupancy)

( I plan to get a weighing machine)..

I currently have no withdrawal symptoms from lexapro.

Like I need to taper by reducing 10% of current dose for 4 weeks and reduce that dose by 10% to 4 weeks until it gets to zero?? 

Can you send the full taper method and time of months it takes to fully stop.

I thought I have taken only ssri for less than 6 months, ON 20MG of Lexapro for only 3 months,  So If i do fast tapering by 10% of dose will be okay to coming off the drugs??

Yes. If you have no symptoms, you can reduce every 3 weeks.

Dpdr and low motivation is somehow manageable.. De-realization thing may be due to zapiz or lexapro but i accept this thing completely. 

When I focus on reality or if i change my perception to somehow get a job, the dpdr completely go away..

Low motivation is due to not focusing on any important things in my life. Simply distracting myself with some other activities..

The thing is that withdrawal can get alot worse if you go to fast. The decision is always up to you. It is harder to undo it. Going slow is safer.

I will surely only do 10% reduction in receptor occupancy for every 3-4 weeks if withdrawal symptoms comes and i will reinstate to my previous dosage and do more slowly.

It needs to be 10% of the current drug dosage. Receptor occupancy is a whole different thing and 10% of that would be devastating.

I read this concept in Maudsley deprescribing guidelines.. You can also try 3% reduction in SERT points that is reduction in 3% of recepter occupancy of drug..
