Chellyricr Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I started tapering from Lexapro in May 2024 (10 mg), taking my last dose in June 2024. I was taking 10 mg since April of 2023. I decided to come off of lexapro due to the weight gain I was experiencing, it ultimately was not great for my mental health. Tapering was HARD and I’ve never experienced something like that in my life. By my last dose, I was 198 lbs. I was 160 when I started my lexapro. My mental health feels positive now and I do not feel like I need to rely on an SSRI at this time. Since coming off, I physically look like I have lost 20-30 lbs but the scale has not moved at all. My blood sugar has been falling and I’ve been trying hard to regulate it. I just saw my doctor and she seems to think my body is still regulating post lexapro. It’s only been about 5 months since my last dose, and I’m hoping my body is adjusting okay and that I can see my weight numbers drop soon. Has anyone experienced something like this?
Moderator Erimus Posted October 19, 2024 Moderator Posted October 19, 2024 Hello, welcome to SurvivingAntidepressants. I moved your post from the success stories forum to the introductions and updates area. We tend to save success stories for when you reach 12 months post medication, and are feeling good. Regarding your issues losing weight you gained on the drug, this is a common issue that should resolve with time. Some people experiment with different diets to try and shift the weight if they are not satsified with the speed of the problem. You can read about diets like paleo, and more radical diets like keto, online. It would be easier to start with things like removing ultra-processed foods, alcohol, high-sugar carbonated drinks and the like, assuming you haven't already done so. Chellyricr Posted October 19, 2024 Author Posted October 19, 2024 I feel like my biggest question mark of my situation is why I look like I’ve lost 20-30 lbs but haven’t lost any weight. Would that be to water weight, bloating, or inflammation?
