The title implies the gentleman killed himself because of a reaction to the medication, whereas when reading the article, it’s explained that he took his own life in the days after quitting. So he was actually in acute cold turkey withdrawal. Jul 2020 - Aug 2020: Switched to 9 mg per day of Cipralex drops to aid tapering. Sep 2020 - Oct 2020: Taper to 8 mg. Nov 2020 - Dec 2020: Taper to 7 mg. Jan 2021 - Feb 2021: Taper to 6 mg. Mar 2021 - Apr 2021: Taper to 5 mg. May 2021 - Jun 2021: Taper to 4 mg. Jul 2021 - Sep 2021: Taper to 3 mg. Sep 2021 - Jan 2022: Taper to 2 mg. Jan 2022: Stopped taking altogether.

I had a look on the British Psychiatry website and I think they have altered their section on tapering? I wonder if this tragic case has thrown any weight towards this? I can’t honestly remember but continual since 2000, lustral, Prozac, citalopram and sertraline, occasional diazepam and a brief spell on zopiclone and amitriptyline for back pain. Recent = started amitriptyline in March 2024 10mg for sciatica up to 30mg by April. Reduced down to zero by September. Recent = 2022 Homemade Kefir from milk. 1/2 pint every other day for diverticulitis 2022 Folic acid 1 pill per dayOct 2024 Vitamin D pill 2024 Hrt 2022= oestrogen gel, testosterone and progesterone coil…Swapped from citalopram in about 2019 onto sertraline.50mg, 75mg, 100mg. February 2024 75mg, 2 weeks later 50mg, felt terrible, back up to 75mg, then 100mg reduction stated 8-10-24 to 87.5mgStarted off for depression and have developed extreme anxiety over the years that waxes and wains.
