Apparently scientists are now learning that the brain of the mouse is actually not a very good analog for a human brain and in this article one of the scientists is even quoted as saying I guess we don't know the human brain as well as we thought. 😳

 

After reading a ton of drug studies over the years and seeing how much of the initial data was obtained from experiments on mice and rats and rabbits instead of humans it helps me to understand even further why this stuff is so unpredictable and dangerous.

 

It seems that recently more and more researchers and doctors are speaking out against the use of non-human subjects as a means of developing and testing drugs for human use because there are way too many differences.

  2. Carbamazepine IR  150 mg twice daily (300mg Daily) 2011 - Present (Currently Tapering)

Current Non Psychiatric Medications Levothyroxine 88mcg (a.m.)-Vitamin D3 1000 IU (p.m.)-Fexofenadine 180 mg twice daily - Azelastine / Ipratropium / Nasacort Nasal Sprays - 0.1mg clonidine nightly

Other - Fish Oil Twice Daily-Multi-Vitamin (a.m.)-Vitamin C 1000mg Daily (a.m.)-Saline Nasal Spray-Salsalate 750mg twice daily PRN, Diclofenac Gel on affected joint PRN-Magnesium Citrate 250mg twice daily

Yup, that about sums it up.

2005-present:  Trazodone 50 mg 

2017:  Effexor XR 37.5 >> 75 mg 

2020 (March) - Began 10% monthly taper of 75 mg Effexor XR (in hindsight this was much too fast)

2021 (Sept) - Completely crashed at 12 mg with horrific symptoms.  Went back up to 37.5 mg but kindled myself (held for two years)
