Administrator Altostrata Posted September 25, 2013 Administrator Share Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) ADMIN NOTE SurvivingAntidepressants.org has always been in compliance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for residents of the European Union. Your postings and your profile are pseudonymous, which protects your personal data. This is explained in this topic (also linked below). GDPR requires notification of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) upon request. The only PII we retain is: screen name e-mail join date IP address time zone last visit browser We are reluctant to delete accounts and the content attached to them. This site exists not only to provide peer support but to document the experiences of people going off psychiatric drugs in order to educate physicians about it. Your Introductions topic is a valuable case history. Your posts here may help someone else in a similar situation, or inform research in psychiatric drug withdrawal or adverse effects. Your experience recorded here is highly valuable. Outside of the Introductions forum, entirely deleting your account or all your posts leaves gaps in discussions, where the community and staff have shown concern for you by responding to your posts. Having absorbed the support of the community, if you want to leave the site, we ask that you contribute your pseudonymous posts here as a way to "pay it back" -- show your thanks to the community. Your e-mail address is the only personal data we retain that may be linked to your pseudonym and sometimes to your real identity. This may or may not be the e-mail address you use for other correspondence. You have control over your e-mail. If you unlink your e-mail address from your pseudonym, you can edit your e-mail address and enter a made-up e-mail address. If you enter an invalid e-mail address, you cannot get any site notifications or notices. If you forget the e-mail address, you will not be able to log in. If you wish to discontinue being a member of the community, you can change your e-mail address and simply not log in any more. How can I deactivate my account? Remember, your account and posts are under a pseudonym. No one need know that pseudonym is yours. No one can find your posts and connect them with your real identity unless you've told them the screen name you use on this site. (If your screen name is readily recognizable because it includes your surname, a unique first name, or a screen name that you use on social media, please contact an administrator immediately to request a new screen name. If you use a common first name, there's no reason to change your screen name, a common name returns millions of results in Web search.) People who are reading this site will not be able to ascertain your real identity unless you give fairly detailed identifying information. If, for example, you post as AmyOrNot from Seattle taking escilatopram, no one would be able to tell which of the thousands of Seattle Amys you might be, and besides, your real name might be Jimena. Otherwise, your screen name and post content is not going to stand out among the billions of posts on the Internet. Ordinarily, no one but you would search for your screen name with your drug history. If you wish to deactivate your account, please save yourself and the administrators time and work and simply follow these 3 steps: 1. Shut off all notifications (in your Settings) 2. Do not visit the site 3. Do not log in You may wish to post a farewell message in your Intro topic for those in the community who are concerned about you. You do not need to notify the administrators that you are doing this. How can I delete my account? For residents of the European Union, GDPR includes account deletion. The site software settings do not permit members to delete their accounts. You will need to make a request to an administrator or through your Settings, under Security and Privacy. Also in compliance with the GDPR, you may request your Personal Identifying Information for review through the same settings.
