dunerbug
I'm wondering if there is much of a difference in protracted withdrawal symptoms. I don't see as many people struggle getting off tricylics on forums like this. Started Fluoxetine Jan. 2010 Tried to go off of it in Sept. 2010 Weaned too fast and was back on it by Nov. 2010 Didn't work as good the second time around. Started to wean again in Nov. 2011 and was off for good by April? 2012
dunerbug
Part of the reason I was asking is because I'm still having some pretty bad bladder issues. I fully wet myself at least once a week. Please don't tell me to do keagals (sp?) Already trying that. This has been a pretty consistent symptom since coming off prozac. Last week I soiled each of our cars. I'm 33 years old. I seems to get worse right before and sometimes during my period. I was researching on the net and saw that they give Imipramine to those with bladder issues. I'm very tempted. My depression and anxiety are still debilitating. As well as a host of other symptoms, I don't seem to be getting better. There is also Clomipramine that helps with OCD as well as bladder issues. I have a neurologist appt. on the 24th and I know he is going to want to put me on something. I will fight it until I feel I've run out of answers. I'm sorry if it seems I'm fishing for support for getting back on meds. Thought of being back on makes me very upset. I don't want to at all....but I want relief so very bad. I think we maybe see fewer TCA's here because they aren't used as much as the newer drugs for psych issues. dunerbug
I'm hoping too! I'm nervous though... I am lucky to get in to see this neurologist so soon. The other one couldn't get me in until Jan. Part of what makes me nervous is that this guy is on the board of psychiatry. I'm bringing my husband with me to help back me up. I don't want to take something out of desperation. Meimeiquest
At your age I'd be pretty sure you are having muscle spasm, not muscle laxity. So Kagals (or whatever) won't help. Do you take magnesium and fish oil? If I remember right, you're into supplements? Have you added or taken anything away that could do this? Does it feel like the bladder compressing or like the sphincter opening? I am just fishing for ideas to help you with Dr. Google. 1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. dunerbug
I was, at one point, taking a ton of supps. I cut them all because of sensitivity issues. I'm gun shy now. I did take a very weak multi and some d3 today and because my anxiety is bad I was going to take some mag . But I wanted to see how d3 hits me first. I'll have to think on the bladder question. The only way I can describe it is....."hmmmm, I think I have to pee" and this goes to "Oh **** I peed myself" very quickly. For a time I was getting up to pee during the night....sometimes more than once. It's weird too, that it changes in severity. Sometimes it's not as dramatic. I notice that when I'm feeling bad in general (physically and mentally) it worsens. One time while driving, I went from 0-pee super quick but tried to hold it. I ended up with terrible pain in my kidney. Once I let go and peed it got better....granted, I peed all over my car. Administrator Altostrata Posted November 12, 2013 Administrator Share Posted November 12, 2013 One of the drawbacks of the tricyclics was withdrawal syndrome, which is why at first the SSRIs were promoted as having no withdrawal problems. Also, the tricyclics are still serotonergics. If your system has been sensitized by withdrawal or adverse reactions, you may get unanticipated reactions to TCAs, too. This is not medical advice. dunerbug
Thanks Alto- I guess I'm hoping there is a way out of this mess. I want to be fixed. Today has been horrific. Other than being on my cycle, I took some supps yesterday and today. All it was was a very light multi vit and some d3. (2000 iu) I feel like checking myself into the hospital. It would be extremely naive of me to think that I could transition onto another med when I can't even take vit d without feeling like death. I feel like I'm getting a little too close to the end of my rope. Meimeiquest
Have you thought about the Lamictal option? Janie
I am in the same place as Dunerbug because I think I may have to go back onto a med but don't know what kind to ask for. Why do you ask about the Lamictal option. How is lamictal better or different or safer? 2002? zoloft. Start of synthroid unknown. 2002? switched to paxil - Developed restless leg syndrome. stopped all caffeine which helped for many years. 2003? switched to effexor XL 75 mg. May 2012 began taper July 2012 stopped all effexor . Usual WD symptoms, lost excess weight, had more energy. RLS stopped immediately! Sept 2012 depression off and on, increasing. Tried tryptophan and acupuncture Dec 2012 severe anxiety began February 2013 used magnolia bark for anxiety - helped but developed central sleep apnea, so I stopped it by April 2013- stopped tryptophan, using saffron herb successfully and started HRT June 2013 doctor noticed bradycardia. I tried very small dose cytomel sev days for hypothyroidism but seemed to strain my heart. July 2013 stopped saffron due to slow heart and palpitations - did not help. July 2013 Increased synthroid from 50mg to 75mg. depression and anxiety improved. Heart problems continue. September & October 2013 - 2 month course of antibiotic for possbile lyme disease - mood and anxiety improved further. Heart pvc's flair up at times. Meimeiquest
I'm talking about micro-dosing with it as a support during withdrawal, not actual treatment.
