  1. Hi..I'm new to this site and am hoping for some insight into what I have been experiencing. I was on Prozac for 15 or so years and tapered off (following Dr orders) over the course of a month. After 2-5 days after starting tapering I started having diarrhea daily which has now persisted for 7 months. Been to the GI docs and they did not find anything. Have also lost 30 pounds. Tired a lot and haven't been sleeping the best are really my only other symptoms. All my blood work has come back normal. Emotionally I feel pretty good. I don't want to go back on Prozac just to mak
  2. Hi, I'm a 27 years old male, I started taking antidepressants on my own without doctor consultation about 3 and half years ago due to some emotional trauma. First I took Paxil 20mg for 2 and half years then I decided I don't need it anymore so I stopped taking it abruptly and I had very nasty withdrawal symptoms which I didn't have before taking the medication like severe depression and hopelessness, anxiety and suicidal thoughts but no physical symptoms though, so I returned to the medication for a month then switched to Prozac 20mg (cold turkey) for six months to ease the withdrawal
  3. I have been on prozac for 25 years. 40mg, once a day. I gradually eliminated the drug by myself without my doctor. I did fine for the first 3-4 weeks. Now, I am experiencing numerous adverse side effects. I was looking for some support and input from anyone else in my situation. I want to know how long things will be bad. Panic attacks; heart pounding/racing; brain fog; overly sensitive/sad/crying/sobbing; unbearable muscle aches; sweating for no reason; headaches; insomnia; uncontrollable anxiety; tingling fingers/feet/face

I am going through hell. I pray I can get some help on this site. I stopped prozac 3 months ago and trazadon after 25 years. I waited till I retired because I knew I could not work when I did it. I don't care about anything, depressed, hurting, crying, no motivation or energy. Help!
  5. Can anyone tell me the actual shelf life of fluoxetine? I don't want to go back to my psychiatrist for a new script while I am tapering, so I am wondering if I can use some fluoxetine that I saved from 2014. I don't think the expiration dates are accurate, but
  6. I came across this. It is wonderful. http://psychrights.org/articles/newdrugsnewproblems.htm
  7. and I am really feeling it today. Anger, agitation, queezy, disorientated. All the withdrawal symptoms i read about and didn’t think I’d get. Can anyone relate!?
  8. I was on flu 20mg for 17 weeks and during that time had horrific sides effects that included no appetite, constant diorreah, huge 4 hour panic attacks and scared to leave home and no sleep. After 3 months most went but sleep was still issue. I could get to sleep and stay a sleep if I used quitipine but that's not long term solution due to health risks. So doctor agreed to give me melatonin sleep hormone and halve my flu to 10mg on 2 november. Have had lovely 3 weeks of good sleep and no issues with mood. Last couple of days I've woke with panic, had erratic sleep, and n
  9. I've been off prozac for almost 4 months now and in November I started experiencing body zaps. They don't feel like they are in my brain but maybe down the back of my neck and spine and throughout my body. They seem to come and go. I feel like some things trigger them amongst other symptoms, like exercise and recently I'm beginning to think acupuncture. Within hours after she does some points on my head I start getting body zaps even if I haven't had them for days so I am wondering if there is a connection. They freak me out though and make me want to curl in a ball. Is adrenal fatigue caused
  10. Hello all, I have find this site while I was triyng to cope with my withdrawal sysmptoms of my long use of Prozac. I have been using Prozac for nearly 15 years.. I used to take 20 mg tablets. 4 months ago I decided to withdraw it as I thought I don't need it anymore. For the withdrawal process I switched to liquid to be able to reduce to half dose (10 mg) for a month, and then fo another month I took every another day a half dose. And after these 2 months I have quitted completely. The withdrawal symtomps occured 1 week after I have completely withdrawed . Started Proz
  11. Hi everyone, I started taking Fluoxetine 20mg in January 2016 after a difficult time and they helped enormously with my depression. However in August of this year having felt great for some time I made the decision to come off the meds as it was affecting my sex life and also I didnt want to stay on drugs forever. I felt the time was right. My doctor told me all would be fine and to take one tablet every other day for a couple of weeks and then two tablets a week for two weeks and that should ensure a safe withdrawal. I am so upset and angry that this irresponsible advise was given a
  12. I was on Prozac for around 6 and a half years, 50 percent of the time i was on two 20mg tablets and the other 50 percent i was on one 20mg tablet. I self tapered for around a month and a half by taking one every other day, then every 2nd day, then every 3rd day...etc and eventually i was off them. I took my last pill nearly a month ago. I am feeling withdrawals. Bloating, bad skin, rosacea-like symptoms, irritable, anger, aches and pains, negative thoughts. Its very uncomfortable and debilitating BUT i would be able to stick it through if i knew i was on the right path. I'm just worried that i
  13. Greetings All! I am blessed to have found you all and look forward to enlightening engagements. What a conundrum life can be, what a perplexity! But, as one inspiring author has once written "It is a great day in the life of a man (though at the time he knows it not) when bewildering perplexities concerning the mystery of life take possession of his mind, for it signifies that his era of dead indifference, of animal sloth, of mere vegetative happiness, has come to an end, and that henceforth he is to live as an aspiring, self-evolving being." I am here beca
  14. I am tapering off Prozac 20 mg and only on day 3. I am using the 10% reduction method monthly, meaning I am only reducing by 10% of 2O mg right now. So I have been taking 18 mg (using tablets plus liquid) for the past couple days and though I can feel my emotions again, I am having waves of anxiety that I am attempting to manage with herbal supplements. I am just wondering do the waves of anxiety get better? Prozac has made me "bipolar" and it is my goal to get off it as I am having to take Zyprexa to counteract the side effects of Prozac. Any suggestions on managing waves of anxiety?

12 years ago, my GP said I was depressed and put me on 20 mg Prozac as i was having strange back pain and had gotten to the point I was freaking out about it. It worked, and after 6 months I stopped cold turkey without any issues. Fast forward 10 years, and i convince myself I have tonsil cancer due to changes I notice in my tonsil. ENT continually reassured me that it wasn't, but it didn't help. I started having anxiety all the time. fast heart rate, losing weight, IBS type symptoms. I thought it was my thyroid as I never had anxiety before. most tests on thyroid came out fine. anxiety
  16. Hi All, I've been on Prozac off and on for the last 10 years: Nov 2007 - 20 mg after severe anxiety/PTSD/depression after abusive relationship and bad alcohol binge. Summer 2008 - went off bc i 'felt good' Fall 2008 - WD and all original symptoms back: extreme anxiety, etc Fall 2008 - back on 20 mg until Summer 2009 - went off bc i 'felt good' ... note, prozac was always prescribed by an internal med doctor, not a specialist. took me about 10 mins each time to get a prozac diagnosis, from different docs ... ... note, always used Xanax for the sy
  17. Hello! I would like to begin a very slow taper of Fluoxetine (10mg) about 7 years. Attempted two years ago but didn't do properly and doctors convinced me that it wasn't the reduction of medicine doing this to me (oodles of withdrawals). Reinstated to full dose. I am currently on tablet form. My question...I want to do a 10% conservative reduction. Should I continue on tablet and cut and weigh or should I transition to capsule and count beads ( not time release ).. Requested liquid from doctor but was told since I am on such a small dose liquid would be too difficult. I am nervous to begin thi
  18. Hi everyone. I am new here, and I am so thankful for this forum. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or input into what I am going through with Prozac withdrawal right now. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Here is my history with meds: I am a 29 year old female (well, 30 this month). At age 20, in college, I took 5 mg of Lexapro for a year (prescribed 10 mg, but I am very sensitive to meds, so I broke it in half). I weaned off of it very slowly. I took 2.5 mg for several weeks when weaning off, then half of that for a couple weeks, until I was done. Withdrawal for me
  19. TRIGGER WARNING: MENTION OF SUICIDE ATTEMPT, EATING DISORDER So I've been dealing with a lot of challenging information this week with regard to my mental health. In 2000, when I was 15, I attempted suicide. I'd had an aggressive eating disorder for about 2 years at this point - that continued until I was 24 or 25. My parents got me a little bit of counseling after the attempt, but they mostly swept it all under the rug. Then, in 2002, I had what they classified as another "depressive episode," which caused them to send me to a psychiatrist who prescribed antidepressants (Wellbutrin).
  20. Hello everyone. I have been a silent follower of this site for many months but decided today to share my story. I was prescribed Prozac 10mg for PMD in March of 2015. My GP said I could take it everyday instead of just the 2 weeks out of the month and I agreed. I could tell a huge difference in my moods before my cycles. I went to my 6 month follow up and when asked how it was working I told him great but I would still feel a little edgy around that time of month. So he said to move it up to 20 mg since that was the usual starting dose. I also have Hoshimoto's (hypothyroid) and at this t
  21. Thank you to the creator of this site, what a great resource! I have been through withdrawal many times and I hoping this is it. I was put on Zoloft in college for Generalized Anxiety disorder (20 years ago) and it became impossible to go off of it. I tried many times and always ended up back on because off of the meds, I was very depressed. I was not even depressed like that before I went on Zoloft in the first place. Thankfully, over the years I was able to reduce the amount I needed from 100mg to 50 then 25, and felt ok for a while. A couple of years ago it seemed the Zoloft stopped workin
  22. Hi, i started taking Prozac 11 years ago when I had a huge family shock and I couldn't cope with life! i never had a review and as I was doing ok I didn't think to ask if I should come off them I just thought I'd be on them for life! Three years something happened and I started to feel very unwell after going in and out of the doctors for months complaining of feeling ill and numerous blood tests which came back ok I was put on HRT for the menopause, not feeling any better and struggling to survive at home and work HRT was changed! still feeling ill and having no life at all I d

  24. Hello, I was diagnosed with fibro in 1994. I was just diagnosed by a rheumatologist with CSS - central sensitivity syndrome. A central nervous system disease/disorder that makes people hypersensitive to almost everything. Here are two studies that might be of interest: Fibromyalgia and Overlapping Disorders: The Unifying Concept of Central Sensitivity Syndromes by Muhammad B Yunus, MD -also: clinical review and education- JAMA April 16, 2014 volume 311, number 15 - Fibromyalgia A Clinical Review by Daniel J Clauw, MD. These articles show how the central nervous system plays a huge role i
  25. Hi, I'm totally new here. I started prozac 10 years ago for anxiety. I was always on 20mg a day. It helped me tremendously at the time but I never expected to be on it for so long.. My life is less stressful (not in grad school any more, job stability etc.) so I decided to go off it. At my doctor's advice I tapered slowly, decreasing roughly like: 2 weeks of: 10mg 3x/week, 20mg 4x/week 2 weeks of: 10mg 5x/week, 20mg 2x/week 2 weeks of: 10 mg all week 2 weeks of: 10mg 5x/week, 5mg 2x/week 2 weeks of: 10mg 3x/week, 5mg 4x/week 2 weeks of: 5mg all week 2 w
