  1. Hi Everyone, im new here and looking for help and support on living without ADs. I never realized that 15 years ago when I was 18 and prescribed Paxil to deal with depression and anxiety that I would feel short term relief of my illness but forever changed and tied to a prescription drug. I have tried twice before to quit ADs and always had to get back on them. The first time it was because the discontinuation symptoms were so bad and not recognized by doctors I spent months in and out of hospitals for neurological evaluations and never receiving a diagnosis for my debilitating is
  2. Hi, I am new to this forum. I've joined as I am desperate for some help and advise on how to wean myself off Zoloft. I am a male in my 40s and I've been taking it for 6 years now after reluctantly agreeing to try it following a bout of depression & anxiety (have a family history of this illness) and unavailability of talking therapy at my foreign place of work at the time. It initially (100pmg) provided some relief but after 2 years I realized that it was doing more harm than good with its various side effects (fatigue, lethargic, slow mind, dulled/flat emotions, weight gain, lower libido)
  3. So I've been through the mill since May 2019.. Med free prior to this was put on and pulled off so many meds since then including zoloft ambien high dose, switched from klonopin to valium. Im currently on 9.5mg V and 900mg gabapentin.. In constant pain nerve and muscle. Severe abdominal pains DP and Dr.. Everything went raally badly when I was taken off 50mg zoloft in 2 weeks that was several months ago but I also abused ambien for about 3 months as was the only thing that could calm me down from having. Constant panic.. I now am left with severe pains and a host of neurological and mental sym
  4. So I dont know where to start, so i guess ill just jump right into it straight away. I'm a 21 year old guy and im in my 3rd year of university. I was prescribed Citalopram 10mg when i was 20 years old for anxiety. I never really had any depression or any other mental problem, apart from the anxiety, which kind of affected my life a bit. Nothing i couldnt manage, but still decided to try out SSRI's to see whether they would help. My doctor prescribed me 10mg Citalopram and it took a while for it to work, about 4 months. Honestly, i felt great after that period of time, i was still kinda myself,
  5. Hi everyone! I have been reading this forum for a while, and it has surely helped me a lot to recognize some off all my symptoms i have and had under and after tapering off Zoloft. I am 34 years old now, when i was around 20-21 years old (i dont have exact timeline) i suffered from some sudden major anxiety panic attacks. Under my first attack i was rushed to "life crisis emergency room" since nobody knew what happened to me. Here i talked to psychologist that helped me calm down and to a psychiatrist that gave me my first Zoloft pills. I took these without even thinking twice or k
  6. Hello. I am 55 and female. Firstly forgive me for my approximate dates in this timeline, I always have trouble remembering. I started taking Fluoxitine 40mg about 20 years ago when I became depressed after a bereavement and family hassle. Depression, anxiety and OCD affect(ed) three close members of my family. It helped but after a few years I felt numb and sleepy so with my GP’s blessing just stopped taking it. A year later I was back on it again, then off it after a few more years. This happened one more time and I stayed on it till 2018 when I asked if I could try something else
  7. Hello everyone. I’ve been lurking around this site since 2015 when my life came crashing down. I was close to joining last year (2019) to post a success story but unfortunately I am now here looking for some answers and help. Here is my history: 2007 - 2015 Zoloft 50mg for mild anxiety 2015 - ct. severe symptoms 6 weeks later reinstated, stabilized, began slow taper 2015 -2017 slow taper with window and wave patterns of stabilization Completed taper in March 2017 After completing my taper I began to slowly improve until tinnitus struck in May of 2
  8. I've read this forum for a little while but decided to join the conversation, as I don't have anyone in real life who fully understands. I started taking meds without doing much research or really understanding their appropriate usage, so I have to admit all of my medication-taking has been pretty haphazard, poorly managed, and minimally supervised. It was only within the past year or so that I have realized what a mess I've gotten myself into. I have struggled with depression & anxiety since childhood, but started with Zoloft in 2013 during an bad depressive episode that inter
  9. Hi there, I’m new to this site. But I wanted to share something regarding PSSD with you all. In 2007 I was out into Prozac for panic disorder and remained to the drug for 12 months. I experienced PSSD for roughly 4 years until things started to change and I started to notice some really strong “windows” where my sex life has come back in a very strong way. In fact, in mid-2013 I likely had one of the most intense orgasms I’d ever had in my life, even prior to taking Prozac. Gradually the windows stayed open longer... until I ended up again on antidepressant medication due to a return of t
  10. I have a 23 year old non-vocal child (autism, self-injury, mood disorder and agitated catatonia.) Since they cannot tell me about the withdrawal effects they are experiencing I'm reaching out for some help. They have been on 175mg of Zoloft for 3+ years, they have also been experiencing severe periodic limb movements of sleep which I've read can be a side effect of Zoloft. The doc recommended reducing Zoloft by 25mg every two weeks. Within 3 days of reducing the Zoloft my adult child starting have problems with falling asleep and staying asleep as well having short periods of unus
  11. Hello! I'm hopeful that this is the correct area to write an initial post! I'm Kikijade and believe to be kindled from Zoloft. I also hope that my signature has worked and that everyone can see my history. I think I'll just wait to hear back on this one then write in the correct forum! This looks like such a wonderful resource but there are so many different forums and I'm not really sure where to start! Thanks so much x
  12. Hi all, I'm new and needing assistance. I was on antidepressants/stimulants for years and have managed to quit the stimulants, but am living through the hell of withdrawal from my SSRI, Zoloft after tapering too fast as you'll see below. This nightmare started in late May of 2020. I have some physical symptoms besides extreme fatigue, and the withdrawal itself is extreme anxiety, panic, depression, brain fog, confusion, poor memory... most of what is on the list of typical symptoms, and what I have come to understand is OCD. The crushing, breathless feeling of just having to get by minute to m
  13. I've only been on Zoloft since July 2020, and I've decided to come off of it, very long story. Currently I'm tapering from 150mg and I've developed tinnitus in my left ear, it went from loud crickets to a quiet buzzing. How common is this? Will it go away within a couple of weeks when I'm completely off of it? I'm so desperate.
  14. So this is kind of a long and winding story but I really need advice and am not feeling good at all. I have taken Zoloft over the course of approximately the last 15 years. I have only ever taken Zoloft up until this most recent episode. I slowly weened off Zoloft the last time over the course of a year or longer to very tiny doses. Started to feel what I thought was relapse but now looking back was probably withdrawal in July 2020. Restarted Zoloft very small dose on 7/27/2020 and gradually raised to 75mg. Did 75 mg for a week then went back down to 50mg due to adverse reaction w
  15. Hi there, I’ve been trying to withdraw from SSRIs for about 3 years in and off without success. 2015- I was started on Zoloft 100mg after a prolonged depressive episode (possibly PND). I tried to come off them about 18months later ago. Withdrew too quickly and ended up being put back on Prozac - up to 40mg by January 2020). I have tried tapering once before and then started again in February 2020 (5 years after starting SSRIs). Reduced to 20mg for 4 months before 10mg for another month and withdrawing completely in August. Started on CBD oil a week later. I was fine fo
  16. Hello World, I have been lurking here for a couple months now and decided it is time for me to join the discussion. After browsing through a couple dozen threads both in the introductions and success stories I hope that by tracking my progress that it may inspire hope to those that follow along. This site has validated many experiences that I encountered in my life that I brushed off as "other issues" -- whereas now I realize that these were and are related to Sertraline use. My story up to this point: As a child I was extremely anxious. There was a family d
  17. Hi there 😀 I was on 150mg Zoloft for 8 months in 2017, then on 20mg Paxil for 6 months in 2018, then 60mg Buspirone for 6 months in 2018, and then back on 150mg Zoloft in 2019- all for PTSD. I came off of the Zoloft over the course of a month as recommended by my GP (way too fast I know now!) and had horrible withdrawals for a few months so my GP prescribed me Paxil for a month. I did not want to go back on Zoloft because it was making me so tired. I finished my month of Paxil in June 2020. I’ve had horrible hot flashes and chills since then. I’ve read the temperature dysregulation
  18. Hello. I have been on zoloft (200mg) and buspar (15mg) daily for 8 years to manage anxiety. A couple of months ago I took a round of metronidazole and ciprofloxacin for 10 days for a gut infection. Soon afterwards I developed very severe akathisia (mental and physical), and it has been the worst thing I have ever felt in my life. Luckily I have been getting short windows since then and the akathisia isn't always present anymore, so I feel like I will most likely recover. Before this I had planned on microtapering my meds down at like 2-5% of current dose per month. But now I am afraid. I
  19. Hi, all-- I am so grateful to have found this site. It is helpful to know that I'm not alone. This is my first post, I will try my best to be succinct. I'm a 42 y/o female. I've been on Zoloft for 12 years, anywhere from 50mg daily to 175mg. I'd say my average over the years is probably around 125mg daily. My signature has a breakdown of my history. I've also taken klonopin during this time, but I take it PRN as I have never agreed with the doc suggestions to take this med multiple times daily. So in terms of my average klonopin dosing, during acute anxiety or hospitalizatio
  20. Hello Everyone! I feel like I am joining this community as part of the "last mile" of my journey to finally kick these SSRI in the teeth and I am excited to share and interact with everyone. At the same time, I'm incredibly scared as my support system (excluding my wife) doesn't believe that I should be off meds. I am from a family of physicians and my psychiatrist is very stuck in the "chemical imbalance" theory, as is my family. Yup... just like everyone else I started getting medicated as a kid as part of the ADHD brigade, and then I was diagnosed with OCD (whi
  21. 2011: I was prescribed the following: Cymbalta 60 mg (arthritis). Zoloft 100 mg (anxiety). Buprenorphine 8 mg (off label for treatment resistant depression). Over a couple of years the doctor increased it to 24 mg. September 2018: Decided I wanted to try and reduce the meds. I began a rapid taper of the Bupe and was down to 12 mg by the end of November 2018. Mid December 2018: Started having severe panic attacks daily. Each morning they started at wake and lasted between 2-6 hrs. Assuming it was because of my recent Bupe reducti
  22. I’m hoping someone here can give me some advice, I had severe Zoloft WD after stopping cold turkey and then later trying to reinstate. My symptoms included seizure like and stroke like activity, hyperthermia, chills, shaking, visual disturbance, vomiting, trouble swallowing, hair thinning/loss and more. This happened about 2.5 years ago. I have significantly improved since then but I still notice some mild symptoms when I take anything serotogenic. Unfortunately, I need some dental work now that requires anesthesia and I’m terrified. I have seen on here not to use anything with epinephrine but
  23. Hello everyone,❤️ I am a 36 year old male. Today I will be sharing my journey through withdrawing my over 20 years use of Effexor xr 150mg. I was first giving Effexor for depression caused by a separation anxiety. This was during my high school years wile I struggled with feelings of social phobia. Effexor seemed to blunt just about any fears and anxiety I had for a number of years but as time went on more and more side effects emerged some very scary. I tollirated most of sides just from the fear of withdrawal. I had previously had failed at least 3 failed attempts and one cold turk
  24. Hi anything would help. i was prescribed Zoloft, prestiuq, rexulti, lamotragene,Paxil during a 14 month period all at separate times and tapered off in 8 days. Also experiencing black mold toxicity. I’ve been off meds for almost 3 months. And out of the apartment for a month. Very desperate. I’m experiencing derealazation , massive depression and anxiety. I have no idea where to start to address these things. Psychiatrist wants to put me on Prozac and and taper in 3-4 months. Symptoms from both are conditions are similar and again don’t know where to start.
  25. Hi there everybody, I was put on 50 mg Zoloft two years ago for situational depression following a traumatic development in my family. I was upped to 100 mg a few months later. I complained of panic attacks (no prior history) and was switched to Lexapro. I filled the prescription but just thought "to hell with all these pills" and quit cold turkey. I experienced tiredness, some light headedness and brain zaps. I had no idea what they were or why I was having them until I eventually had the presence of mind to google if there were any side effects associated with discontinuing Setrali
