  1. Hi everyone, Very happy to have found this forum, as I feel my doctor has been a bit too aggressive with medication changes recently and I am not sure what to do. As history, I was put on 10 mg of Zyprexa when hospitalized for a psychotic episode Spring 2017. That was followed by 10 mg of Lexapro for depression and anxiety. When I later had insomnia the Lexapro was increased to 20 mg. I gradually reduced the Zyprexa to 2.5 mg with the support of my doctor. I recently moved across the country and began seeing a new psychiatrist for general support but also d
  2. Hello everyone, my name is Nicholas and I'm a 21 years old guy from Italy. I suffered from chronic insomnia from the age of 15 and in mid-February 2017 was prescribed before bedtime the antidepressant mirtazapine at 15 mg and the antipsychotic olanzapine at 2,5 mg. I took them for 2 weeks without improvement. Therefore the psychiatrist increased mirtazapine at 30 mg and olanzapine at 10 mg. Now I believe that he thought I had bipolar disorder type 1 but I hadn’t any mental illnes. I took olanzapine at 10 mg because I think was only a tranquilizer and because I trusted the doctor
  3. Moved from: alldaisy-zyprexa-withdrawal-severe-insomnia-and-lack-of-appetite Hi All, It is unfortunate to see that it is taking years to see a difference in your sleep pattern. I am in the same predicament - insomnia, broken sleep, and I no longer get that sleepy/tired feeling.. I now sleep for 0 -3 hours each night after quitting Zyprexa (I was put on it in January this year and I was tapered off it March). It takes me almost two hours to fall asleep and when I do, my sleep is broken - whereby I am awaken multiple times during that short sleep cycle each night.
  4. Hi everyone, I have severe insomnia problem for more than a month. I was prescribed Zyprexa on March 29, 2018 and I took it only for less than 3 weeks. I stopped taking Zyprexa cold turkey and I switched to Risperidone 1mg. Now, I have severe insomnia. I cannot fall asleep and I just lied in bed from night to morning. My insomnia been going on for more than a 1 month. My questions for you. How many days, months, or years did it took you to sleep normal again after you withdraw or stop cold turkey from Zyprexa? Did you have to take another drug after stopping the Zyprexa to help you sleep
  5. I was prescribed citalopram around 2006 for anxiety when sitting exams at school. I was left on the drug for 6 years until I asked to come off it. I was given no advice as to how to do this. First failed attempt at coming off antidepressants. I won’t go into the detail but I ended up being hospitalised and put on Venlafaxine instead. This is when I began searching for my own answers. I learned about tapering and in April 2016 I began reducing my Venlafaxine by 15mg each time. I didn’t stick to a strict schedule, I just reduced each time I felt good and could handle it. This a
  6. I'm brand new to this forum. I'm not real social so I generally only read and don't write. However, I feel the topic of letting people now that it is possible to get completely off Zyprexa (olanzapine) is so important that I had to share. I'm bipolar with an extreme depression and an anxiety disorder. I was put on 5 mg of Zyprexa in 2003 when I went through a very bad down cycle. Since 2003, my body kept building up a tolerance to the Zyprexa so my Doctors kept raising the dose all the way up to 30 mg/day starting in 2015. That's when I really starting having bad side effects such as high bloo
  7. Hey guys, I'm Dale . I'm really glad to be apart of this community . Here's my brief drug history : -In the summer of 2013 I experienced the beginning of a near death experience that produced years of anxiety and insomnia . My GP Rx'ed me xanax 1mg, klonopin 2mg, and restoril 30mg to be taken as needed . -In January 2014, I saw a psychiatrist who Rx'ed me 40mgs of Latuda, 75mg of lyrica , 900 mg of trileptal , and 10mg of lexapro to take every day . By the end of summer of 2014 , due to side effects, I ended up on just 10mg of zyprexa everyday until the fall of 2014 where my dose vari
  8. Please i need help. I am on cymbalta generic and have tapered down to approx 10 mgs from 90 using bead method. I also take a very low dose of ativan. I had tapered off the ativan in july 2016 and went back on much lower dose 4 months ago. I also take zyprexa at approx. 3.75 mgs. I have been trying to taper all three meds because i have fatty liver disease and need yo get off this junk before it turns into cirrhosis. So i made a cut last week and about 4 days ago i started to get severe anxiety. I was doing fine up until then but it seems like every time i get to a certain point with the zyorex
  9. I had been on Ziprexa 5 mg for about 4 years. Believe it or not a Dr prescibed this to me to help with chronic fatigue syndrome. I stopped taking it over 3 months ago cold turkey. Call me naïve but I new nothing about tapering off or withdrawal. I am learning the hard way. I am having horrible insomnia since I stopped the medication. It is now that I am learning that my insomnia is a result of stopping the medication. Sleeping pills are not working for me. I have tried prescription and non prescription from Ambien, Temazepan, Xanax etc to benadryl and the likes and all king of natural
  10. Hi everybody. I never joined a forum before but now it's time. I've been on AD's for about 20 years now. Always resistant to staying on them, because of flat affect and just a lot of fear of side effects. Started on maprotiline (yeah, nobody's heard of it) a tetracyclic, then tried St John's Wort, SAMe, TCM, before getting prescribed Celexa. My pattern was to stay on until I felt OK, than go off, probabl;y way too fast for my sensitive system, and crash. Aside from sadness and lack of energy/motivation, my main symptom was horrible insomnia -- I have atypical PTSD symptoms from a major
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm new here, this is my first post. I'm struggling with completely withdrawing from Olanzapine / Zyprexa. I had slowly slowly cut down my dose to 1.25mg's and then I decided to go completely off it. I managed to do about 3 weeks and my doctor (who also gives me psychotherapy) convinced me I was going hypomanic and I believed him and went back on it at 10mg's. This was about a month ago. I've cut my dose down since then. I'm not totally convinced I have bipolar disorder, although at the end of my last attempt to come off I was aware that I was having quite grandios
  12. I had been using a generic drug of Zyprexa.I used to take 5 mg of it every night for about 3 years.I quit it abruptly in April 2017.I am experiencing terrible withdrawal effects since then.Suicidal thoughts, insomnia, high anxiety, depression, tremors, weight loss, eyelid twitches, nausea, etc.(I think I may have psychosis as well). In June my doctor prescribed me Paxil 10 mg.I quit it 2,5 monts later because It just worsened my condition.I also got bronchitis after quitting olanzapine.I started taking singulair and inhaler in October. My bronchitis improved.I quitted singulair 4 days ago because I wa
  13. I went cold turkey off of Geodon which was the last in line of numerous antipsychotics and antidepressants I was on for cca 2.5 years. I went off in Aug 2015. Since then I haven't had an idea what I should have been doing. Now I'm ready to tackle my recovery process. Have I caused more damage by not adhering to some recovery regimen all this time? Or am I totally fine? Is there any place where I can get all the definitive answers on this whole issue? I want to mastermind the hell out of this process and you guys need to help me.
  14. Hello I am Sam. I am 44 and was a mother to 3 sons until I stupidly went to hospital in may 2012 with stress and self harm. got diagnosed with depression and psychosis total rubbish. Prescribed Olayynzapine and anti depressants and they simply melted my brain. I didn't know what I was taking because I was too stressed to find out. I got put iin hospital by my ex who treated me very badly. Well what haven't I lost. 100% emotions gone, 100% motivation gone, 90% memory gone, 100% appetite gone, 90% sleep gone, no hobbies or interests, eyes changed colour,, veins shrunk, heart rate of
  15. I am having terrible time getting off Olanzapine I first did with Clonazepam, I've managed to reduce from 40mg to 0 but I have total insomnia, sleeping just 0-2 hours of very vivid dreams. I believe there are people on this forum in the same situation. This has gone on for months now. I used to use Olanzapine I have total anhedonia, complete lack of creativity, imagination memories, motivation, severe aphasia, can't express myself, one drug that helped this was Oxcarbazepine, but however when I took another dose of Olanzapine the effect went away completely and didn't return from i
  16. Hi I have been on zyprexia for over 2 years. Tried to get off several times. I used to be on 10 but now I'm down to 2.5mg every 3 days. I went a week without but then I got a headache for 3 days so I had to take a pill. I want to be off for good. Should I take one every 4 days then one every 5 days will that work?
  17. Hello everyone. This is a little lengthy post although I tried to keep it shorter ... I have a history of depression going back to 2008 after stressful job. In 2012 I started feeling better and was on Viepax and Zyprexa (Olanzapine) at that time. Started running 2 miles a couple times per week and also started spending more time at the beach. Felt mood improvement to the point of feeling euphoric or maybe hypomaniac, which is a good thing for me. Went from 253lbs to 190lbs and it seemed all was good as I felt there was a direction I was going, a progress. Last summer started feeling an
  18. I was prescribed Zyprexa 2.5 mg for insomnia by my pdoc and I have been taking it for one week. Since it's only been for such a short time can I just stop taking it? I've been taking Remeron (mirtazapine) 15 mg for two months but it isn't helping that much with sleep. I started on Lexapro 10 mg eleven days ago too. I appreciate your input!
  19. I'm writing on behalf of my daughter (18) who has now been on Olanzapine based tablets for 2 months. She suffered a shock some time after graduation. At the time, she showed signs of being lost/not recognizing that her mother was present/wanting to go home. After a lot of discussions, we now suspect it was due to being withdrawn (something we unfortunately didn't see as a serious problem then), not being involved enough in external activities and mixture of feeling of not fitting in in high school, some issues about "looks",trying to find an escape on the web (lot of time spent) and
  20. Hello, My name is Lauren and I am trying to get off Zyprexa. This week was my third time attempting. This is the third time that I failed, too. I was prescribed 5 mg of Zyprexa one year ago this month for bad anxiety. It worked instantaneously. Within a month, I didn't fit into my clothes anymore, which was okay with me at the time because this drug was to be "temporary". I wanted to see if I could take the lowest dose possible and still have it have a therapeutic effect so I started taking half a couple months after being originally prescribed, so i went from 5 mg per night to 2.5 mg per
  21. In hindsight, I realize that I have been challenged most of my life with manic depression, little manic euphoria. I also now see the mental health issues which re-appear throughout my father's side of the family. Suddenly when I was in my mid 40's I started experiencing manic euphoric episodes.I was Baker Acted, mis-diagnosed, had another attack, hospitalized, forced to resign from a lucrative career that was the love of my life. In 2008 was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.( I have been at or below the poverty line since with the work I have been able to perform.)
  22. Hi all I was going to attempt to do this slowely by dropping to 1.25 an extra day each week but i felt more unwell after the first attempt. So i decided to see what would happen if i just dropped to 1.25 from 2.5. I did this last night. I am thinking if i can manage it then great if not i will reinstate at 2.5 and drop more slowely. I have asked my psychiatrist for liquid to do this but not got a reply. I really need of this med as my menstral cycle is totally off and i need to lose weight for surgery. Also i feel unlike myself alot. It is hard to tell the cause of the later as i a

  24. Hi I am currently on Olanzapine 5mg and have recently found the motivation to attempt another withdrawal. I was first put into the mental hospital in 2007 after taking quite a lot of cocaine and drinking a lot of alcohol. I was living in London at the time. I was immediately put on Olanzapine in the hospital and I think I took 10mg for about 7 months then I decided to quit. I didn't know anything about tapering then and must have stopped cold turkey from 5mg or 2.5mg. I had severe insomnia and lasted for about a year before developing psychosis or mania or an extreme state and ende
  25. I'm having a hard time taper off 2.5 mg of zyprexa. I went every other day for 7 days then quit taking it and only managed to go two nights before insomnia and anxiety kicked in. I'm on zyprexa for sleeping anyway, is there hope for me getting off this drug?
