  2. Hi all, I am new to this website and I wanted to say a few words about what I am going through. I was put on Nortriptyline 50 mg and Venlafaxine 37.5 mg for vestibular migraine. Actually first nortriptyline with no success for my vestibular migraine. Instead of weaning off at the time the DR kept me on both medication so finally I decided in 2020 that I wanted to get off the nortriptyline. The first 10 mg was fine, then some restless legs symptoms but got through it till managing to get to 25 mg. Then hell. I found a pharmacy that custom made my doses to allow me to drop 1

I was in Lexapro 10 and 20mg (mostly 10) for 15 years. I was put on it when I was 19 after going through a breakup with my high school girlfriend. Also , I have dealt with minor anxiety issues most of my life and have a family history of anxiety and depression. Everything was going ok until I herniated a disc in Jan 2018. What felt like a nervous breakdown ensued. My GP stopped Lexapro cold turkey and started me on Luvox and this made things worse. I cold turkey quit everything for a couple months and things continued to get worse. My GP then put me on Effexor 150mg an
  4. Hello. I have been on antidepressants since the late 1980’s. My first, for severe panic and anxiety, was Nardil. I was switched after three or so years to Paxil. Paxil gave me a movement disorder so I was then changed to Effexor around 1992 and Bupropion was added around 2000. On was on those two for the next eighteen years. In November of 2018 I thought I was starting to have movement disorder symptoms again which frightened me so much that I discontinued both medications abruptly, unaware of the consequences (Effexor 150 mg, Bupropion 100mg). This (Neurologist now calling it a severe Akathis
  5. Hi Iv been on antidepressants and antipsychotics for about 10 year and im 30 now. Recently the combination of both was getting to me as my side effects were getting worse for some unknown reason after like 2 years of no problems. Side effects that I suddenly got or became worse: -Anhedonia, like I came home from work and Id sit at my normal spot at the desk but instead of doing things, which were mostly gaming, I was just idling and bored out of my head. Also movies and everything i could think of were just so dreadfully boring so I just prefer to idle than do or watch so

  7. Greetings to all! It took 5 years for my brain and nervous system to rebalance and heal after taking Effexor for 14 years. Nasty stuff. One of the hardest to discontinue. But it is possible! I tried to d/c it a few times over those 14 years but had to keep going back on it because I couldn't function. I didn't understand enough about withdrawal and how all this works. But as we all know we reach a point where our souls know we do not need this drug and will do whatever it takes to get off it and stay off it. It's a ride through hell that's for sure but you can do it!! As we all k
  8. I have been off of lexapro rapid withdrawal by my psychiatrist since March 29th and the faster heart rate is the most uncomfortable symptom for me, it is in the 100s resting. I took lexapro for a few weeks after being taken off fetzima that I took for a few months and effexor which I was on for a couple of years. When have people noticed their heart get back to normal? I have been checked out and everything seems fine with my heart. Its just fight or flight constantly, maybe? What are others experience with it? Help please.
  9. Hello guys, I already shared my story in another forum and now I thought of sharing it also in this community. My story starts about 3,5 years ago, there I was 22 years old, I broke up with my first big love and this kinda left me desperate. I tried compensating it with a lot of work, working out in the gym and partying. I was always looking for a distraction, something that made me feel good and I always played the nice and happy guy in front of the others. Somehow it worked, I liked my life back then, I loved my job (i worked in a spa center as a
  10. Introduction topic: ☼-mranxious-3-months-off-effexor-xr-6-years-on Heyyyyyy 😊 I am alive !!!!!! Out there living a life that I am proud of and comfortable with. Pheww I am one of the blessed ones to have breached the other side and lived to talk about and YOU WILL TOO !! That was one hell of a ride. One that is FAR FAR FAR in the rearview mirror 🙃 If you have read my story, you will know that I went through literally the most traumatic event in my life and that was "Effexor Withdrawal". From start to finish I was unsure I would make it through this time,
  11. Hi! Would someone advise me how & when it would be best to reinstate Venlafaxine? I have reduced from 150mg Effexor XR to 75 mg of ordinary Venlafaxine tablets over 12 months. Have been on this for 4 weeks and feeling the effects of W/D.
  12. Hi everyone, After many months of reading and gaining some hope and encouragement from the stories here I decided to join your great forum. Sorry, but this is a very long story. Im a 39 year old male from Australia and I have been taking ssri’s for GAD for the last 10 years. I started on Paxil 20mg for around 18 months and was switched to lexapro 10mg due to weight gain, sexual dysfunction and fatigue. Lexapro was a little better but I really didn’t feel like it was doing much apart from keeping the weight up and the motivation down. I am 6’2 and was alwa
  13. Hi I am new to this forum. I have read through many posts and gained some very helpful info and it is comforting to know I am not alone. Looking some advice regarding my current AD regimen. I have OCD and depressive symptoms. Was started on Effexor XR by GP for mild low mood ( probably anxiety was more of the problem) after returning home from foreign charity work trip early due to homesickness in 2001. Had a number of years of anxiety and obsessive thinking (no psychology/counselling input) following severe depression in a close relative and then a long period of doing better. Anx
  14. I was starting my third effexor taper 7/2015 -6/2016 and down to 3 mg untill nerve conditions of numbness, buzzing, tingling, burning and buzzing sensations in limbs started. I didn't know what was happening and neither did my doctors and thought I had some other illness such as MS, fibromyalgia etc. Did numerous tests with no diagnosis. Anxiety and insomnia was at an all time high so Doctor reinstated full 37.5 mg dose on 6/30 and up to 75 mg in 1 week. Because the nerve conditions also were not allowing me to sleep the doc gave me clonazepam. Later I was then given lyrica to help with t
  15. Hi, I am 24(F). I have a history of depression, GAD, and OCD. I have a brief history in the past of celexa and Prozac for depression/ocd symptoms. They all worked very well. Prozac was for depression. I haven’t been depressed since. I used celexa for coming off of depo because I’m very sensitive to hormones. That worked while it did. I’ve not had a horrible experience with either. I was even able to stop cold turkey without any problems. Flash forward to summer 2020. I start having an OCD flare up. I needed something fast as you know pandemic stresses aren’t good for ment

  17. Hi, i am new to the community i was reading and educating my self for a bout a week and just wanted to share my experience and welcome any suggestions and pardon my English as i am not native. i started antidepressant back in 2013 with Zoloft and went through many SSRIs and SSNRIs medication along with Stimulate "Concerta" for my ADHD. i suffered withdrawals from SSNRI the most then shifted to Concerta which was my biggest fault i just understood i was in withdrawal stage and started taking stimulates. i had no knowledge in medication i thought the doctors
  18. 19-years on Lexapro & Wellbutrin. At 5mg, wanted to stop Lexapro because of sexual side effects, constipation, weight gain, dulled feelings ... quit CT in May of 2019 as I didn't think I could taper any lower being it was only 5mg, disasterous results--physical symptoms first, then severe depression, panic, worse than anything I'd ever experienced before taking drugs. Doc put me back on Wellbutrin and Lexapro after 2 wks, increased dosage of Lexapro within a month from 10mg to eventually 40mg since I was still in a terrible state. Gave me Klonopin for panic/insomni
  19. Hi. New user here, on behalf of my (adult) son. His story is complicated! But I guess most here are. He took Remeron for about 5 years. (he has a form of Sleep Disordered Breathing - like sleep apnea - and Remeron helped with the related insomnia). Remeron suddenly - like, overnight - stopped working in December 2020, possibly because of a vertigo-inducing inner ear infection. Not only did Remeron no longer sedate him, it actually seemed to have a paradoxical effect. It was like a dose of adrenalin, but worse. (Would REALLY love to know what happened there, but prima
  20. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE TOPIC BEFORE GOING OFF PRISTIQ. Pristiq comes in insufficient dosages to taper. Do not alternate doses of Pristiq to taper -- this will cause the levels of this medication in your brain to go up and down and is second only to cold-turkey in causing withdrawal symptoms. AND DON'T COLD-TURKEY EITHER!!!!!!!!! To reduce the risk of withdrawal symptoms and post-discontinuation prolonged withdrawal syndrome, as with other psychiatric drugs we recommend reducing Pristiq by 10% per month, calculated on the last dosage. (The amount of the reduction gets p
  21. When I was a kid I had a hamster, not for long, but that's another topic. For exercise, the hamster had a wheel he would run on for what seemed like forever. I would watch him as he would try desperately to keep up with this journey to nowhere, then it was time to get off. It appeared he was never too sure about this part; the wheel was moving so fast and his little feet just couldn't stop the spinning. Sometimes, the attempts to leave this endless cycle would end in a dramatic dismount of flipping and flailing. This - is my experience with meds and my mental health. And, somehow, I am findin
  22. First of all, hello everyone. My native language not English.Im from Turkey.Im 26 years old and Im male.I had social phobia and I looked for a solution to this situation. My psychiatric adventure started at the age of 12 with prozac. I used it for 1 week and quit. Then I started again at the age of 18 with paxil. I used it for 2 weeks and quit.Short-term use of the drugs because it numbed me. When I could not cope with anxiety at the age of 21, I went to the doctor again. And this is how the real adventure that lasted until 10 months ago started. Doctors have tried all the drugs on me (lustral,
  23. Hi guys, It's nice to meet you all. I will share a bit about my story. I was prescribed Effexor in 2014 for Anxiety and Depression. I had also never seen a Psychologist or Psychiatrist before 2020, all I ever saw was a Dr once and then the next appointment I was put on medication. Before this I tried Zoloft and Mirtazipine for 8 week stints, which both did nothing for me. When Effexor was prescribed, it worked fairly well. I would still feel anxiety and depression, but in a numb way - a way that I didn't react to. I also hardly ever felt joy on this medication. It's har
  24. I don’t know if I’ll ever heal or experience even a little bit of relief from this hell. I suffer from dizziness, anxiety and electric like surges when falling asleep and I have been off ADs for 26 months. Doctors have pretty much thrown me to the curb because they have no idea what to do. I’m not experiencing improvement. I fear permanent damage. Is there anything I can do?
  25. Hello, I was not drug free for a long time. I got depressed again a so ended on drugs again. Did not know what else to do. Doing quite poorly now. I have a lot of anxiety and trouble sleeping. Currently, on 50mg sertraline and 25mg agomelatine. Weird thing is that even when I am in a good mood and anxiety is at bay I wont be able to fell asleep. Whenever I feel my brain is slumbering off then "zzap" and I wake up. I think it is the sertraline, that is preventing me from sleep. I'm just in a bad place mentally and cannot try to discontinue the drug as I'd than sp
