  1. Hello, I was hoping someone could give me some advice about some severe symptoms I've been experiencing since switching from Lexapro to Prozac and back again. Here is my story: Diagnosed with OCD and depression at 18. Prescribed 60 mg Prozac which I eventually manage to reduce to 30 mg. Continue taking this dose of Prozac for about 20 years. At the end of last year Prozac seems to have lost its effectiveness so I speak to my doctor about switching to Lexapro which I've heard has less side effects. As instructed by my doctor I reduce my Prozac dose to 20 mg for two weeks, wait 5 days withou
  2. Hello, you can call me King :). Someone from a discord server referred me to this discord server saying that you all would know what I'm going through and how i can deal with it.... So a few months back like October ish i joined an IOP program to help manage my anxiety. I had a whole group of doctors there (therapist, nurse, behavioral specialist, and a psychiatrist for medication management). Before joining this program i already had a psychiatrist who had put me on Lexapro 20mg, Gabapentin 100mg, and Intuniv 1mg (I think... i forgot the dosage for that last one if ima be honest).
  3. Been lurking for a month or so and decided to post and engage because I think it can only help me. I don’t have the longest or most complex history with medication, but I could definitely use a bit of insight. I could start with what led me to meds, etc, but I’ll keep it short and sweet. Depression/Anxiety started after a bad first (and final for that drug) trip. No crazy visuals, talking to walls, none of that. Just brought on insane fear that I had never felt. It stuck for years, from about 20 - 23. Eventually just got back to my old self. It was the biggest relief.
  4. I don't know......I am practice posting. At present I am about 5 days off Adderal, 2.5 mg. It feels alot like when I finally came off Lexapro......I was down to 3 mg. and they took me off of it completely in October while I was in the hospital........meanwhile started up on the Adderal and still am on Trileptal 150mg. x2/day. Anyway mostly upper back achiness now.......total demotivation as anything is stressful and am just working for staying calm, fluids, eating, sleep. A conversation by phone once in awhile. Pay the bills. Accept help when I can. So maybe I am somewhat on t
  5. 6. Hey there! So I'm now 19 and my life has been hell for over a year now. I have a bit of a history with antidepressants. I started Zoloft at age 12 and ended up quitting after a year or so, no issues (below is my med list after starting Zoloft again at age 14). For 3 years until completely stopping drugs, I was on Lexapro, propranolol, and gabapentin. These drugs were used for depression and migraines. Through things like therapy, I was able to overcome depression and mild-to-moderate anxiety. I was tired of being medicated and wanted off. Unfortunately, my GP took me off of things wayyyy too f
  7. Hi, I am now 6 months off of lexapro. What I have seen in the last 25 days is I got insomnia, my hearth goes up to 80,85 in the mornings and maybe last all day. If I sit down goes to 75.sleeping goes to 55-60.i list 6 kg in thus period. Still have body Tremors, have some strange smell which makes me panic. Have clear mind, mood is still problem. I am so afraid of going back to ssri. Can somebody tell something about those things. And maybe what to exercise as a plan, what kind of exercise.
  8. Good Day, I wish I could say that my withdrawal symptoms from quitting Lexapro are the worst, but quitting Xanax takes that title. I have been off Xanax for two years and six months. The first day was the worst, the first year was the worst, and I am not feeling any Xanax issues now except waking up in a cold sweat every night since 2014. Anyway, I have not looked back or taken Xanax ever again. During that entire ordeal, I was still on Lexapro. I didn't quit it also because I didn't want to do too much at once. I finally quit Lexapro on the 25th of Dec 2016. Side note: To help me qui
  9. I've been meaning to introduce myself for a while now, but getting myself to sit down and actually write something has been so incredibly hard. I just can't focus. Things I want to say or share come in bits and pieces and are gone by the time I can get on this site. I'very been tapering off Lexapro since August and am down to 10 mg fromy 30. I know it's faster than suggested here, but it seems to be OK. Well, I am still alive anyway. Since I can only seem to put together short thoughts on everything and need to get them out right away, I've decided to use Twitter primarily #TweetingMyRecovery.
  10. Hello everyone, I started taking Lexapro 5 mg back at March 1st until September 11th. During the last month before I quit the medication, I started getting stomach issues, malaise, fatigue issues. I was also diagnosed with thrombocytopenia (low platelet disorder). With all these issues, I told my psych that I was getting these bad side effects, he told me I could quit or taper off in 1-2 weeks. Since the side effects were getting too much, I decided to withdraw. Initially for the first two days, I was feeling good, just had to go pee a lot. However, for the next
  11. I am only 12 clean; are we calling it clean? This is the 5th time I have gotten off of an anti-depressant; Lexapro. The first 4 times was Celexa. All I ever took was Celexa until 16 months ago when I started Lexapro. In the past, with Celexa, I weaned for a year. No reading about weaning and no direction with a doctor. Just me thinking I needed a year. But this time I came off in only 2 months unfortunately. Because thats what the doctor told me to do and I wanted to get pregnant. I am 37 and my first son is 7. They are far enough apart already. But I am no longer ready to have
  12. Hi I'm 3 months from cold turkey lexapro 10mg, I have read many people going on years with withdrawl from cold turkey, would it be advised to reinstate liquid lexapro at 1mg? Or ride this out. I think I'm getting windows already, but symptoms are still debilitating, I was hit withdrawls basically day one of stopping or my body just refused the drug. I ended up in hospital from mistakenly taking 20 mg over 2 days instead of 10mg heart went into SVT major panic attack, violent diarheah and intense shaking fever etc persisted for a full week 10 minutes or so after taking my norma
  13. Hi everyone, I am new here so not sure what the protocol is or how to use this site properly, so please forgive me if I have posted in the wrong section. I am looking for some advice from anyone that has done a straight switch on SSRI's. My story is that I was a long term paroxetine user (over 20 years) I was relatively ok on my dose of 40mg for anxiety, ocd. For some unknown reason 2 years ago in my infinite wisdom I decided that it was no longer working for me and that I may lose some weight if I switched to another SSRI, so, as I had a brief experience (1 year) with escitalopram
  14. Hi there, I am not sure the best way to start, and the answer to my question may already be buried in one of the many other excellent responses, but here is the question anyway. I take 2.5 mg Lexapro by cutting in half the 5 mg pill, and want to taper to 0. I tried this before by going to 1.25 mg by cutting the 5 mg tablet into 1/4ths and was OK, but then tried using a compound pharmacy to get smaller doses to get to 0. However, about 3 days after starting to take 2 what were supposed to be 0.5 mg doses (to go from 1.25 to 1.0) of the compound pharmacy doses, I had a
  15. Four years ago during one of my attempts of getting off my AD, I started having tinnitus. It literally threw me into a nervous breakdown. I didn't know what was going on....anyways-fast forward 4 years, I have learned to live with the constant ringing in my ears. I started tapering about a month ago. This week I noticed a whistle from time to time when I talk. I have discovered when someone talks (or I do) in a little bit of a higher tone, I hear this annoying whistle in my right ear. Honestly I am totally okay with it....(because there are others struggling in this world with way w
  16. hi all my name is Miguel and i have a question about Lexapro here is the medication I took and the time lines Sertraline 50 mg on 5/10/15 and took Trazodona, 150 mg then i stopped continued on sertraline Mexazolam, 1 mg 1/12/15 on 6/6/16 I went to 100 mg Sertraline then 03-10-2016 i changed to Escitalopram, 20 mg and Xanax 0.5 and took it until i stopped on 28/5/2017 by my own bad mistake I did a super fast tampering of 20 15 10 5 0 in 1 mouth ^^ and i whent back on it on 7/08/2017 owe my one whit out saying to the doctor but i am now at 10 mg and i have an ap
  17. This is really more like a side-effect from taking SSRIs rather than the symptom of WD itself, but some of those who are still on drugs and are getting ready for tapering may find it really helpful. Weight gain While on drugs my body weight went up by about 55-60 pounds. I was able to get rid of it thanks to lowering my carbs intake. What worked in your case? Interestingly, no amount of physical exercise was enough in my case to help lose weight - the whole endocrine system, metabolism, and what not, was so much out of whack, that even running three marathons a day wouldn't do a thing.
  18. Hello I've come across this site whilst trying to find some reassurance to help me get through this hell. I was put on AD when I was 14 (now 33) for adolescent anxiety and depression. I have been on one form of AD or another since. I've failed many times in the past timing off these drugs, not handling the symptoms and ending up going back on a full dose. I've lost count how many of those years I have been on Escitralopram but that is the drug I'm now withdrawing from. I used the liquid to taper off slowly over the last year. I got down to 1mg and just over two weeks ago was the last time I t
  19. Used2be: Tapered off Lexapro after 5 years on......in withdrawal hell ^ Introduction topic It’s been over seven years now since I’ve taken any sort of antidepressant, and I am in an infinitely better place these days. I was on all types of ADs over the years, including SSRIs and MAOIs. I even went through Electro-shock therapy in the mid 90’s in a desperate attempt to relieve my intractable severe depressions. In 2008 I finally found incredible relief with Lexapro, and I will never regret taking it, but the withdrawal from it was quite intense and lasted for a good long year.
  20. I have been off cyprelex for 6 months now and it’s been dreadful ever since my husband had an affair on me and told me I needed meds when I suspected it so I took them for a year and then found out about him so I decided to go off. I went from 20 to 10 to 5 mg in 3 months and had severe reactions . Almost immediately my panic came on fast and hard and the fear of dying was all day everyday. I called ambulances was put on monitors to check heart everything was ok. Here I am 6 months later though and everyday I fear death ! I can’t stop googling symptoms . Tingling in arms legs feet and hands ,
  21. Can any one please help me! I have been on Lexapro for 1.5years 10mg since i switched from Zoloft 100mg. It was working good for my anxiety and running thoughts, only little trouble with hard to get to sleep at night. However, after tress of my work, i feel little worrying feeling and doctor straight away put me on 20mg of Lexapro. I felt heart palpitation when wake up and didn't care of it, and my heart started to beating faster and faster during the 7 weeks, went to 125 bpm for whole day! That was worse than my original Anxiety symptoms! Also i experienced some bowel movement, no appetite bu
  22. Hi everybody. I wanted to give a quick introduction here. I'm a long-time "lurker." I found SA before starting Lexapro in March 2018. I read through the withdrawal accounts with some trepidation. Before starting my SSRI medication, I thoroughly grilled my doctors about withdrawal—both primary and neuro. Both insisted there was no SSRI withdrawal syndrome and that suggestions to the contrary were a myth. In short, I believed them over you. This was a mistake. I didn't have depression. I wasn't suffering from anxiety. I had chronic cluster headaches.
  23. I whoopsed and I need advice. Have been on escitolopram for about year. 20 mg/day. Have been on & off other antidepressants (Paxil, Zoloft) throughout life. This is first time on lexapro. Doc initially put me on Zoloft as it had been good before, but I reacted very badly to it. In the past I have “accidentally” weaned - forgotten to take more & more often then just stopped, without issue. I thought that’s where I was at with lexapro (and am in a new relationship and noticing that being off for a couple of days really improves sex experience. This is impor
  24. Hello all. I was prescribed Lexapro 10mg for heart palpitations and blood pressure. Never struggled with anxiety but the cardiologist determined my heart rate issues were from anxiety and I even argued with him over it and his reply was that my heart was anxious. So I attempted the Lexapro as the palpitations were uncomfortable. 3 hours after taking the first dose I had my first ever panic attack. Kept having panic attacks upon waking and started having bad anxiety. Stopped the lexapro after a week. It’s been 4 weeks since I’ve been off the lexapro. The anxiety is bad still. It’s interfering w
  25. Hi everyone. Thank you for reading my introduction. I've had an odd initiation to psyche meds. I'm middle aged and was rather healthy prior to my breakdown. I exercised five days a week, numbers were good, was generally 'relaxed' and comfortable in my skin and had a great marriage. Then, in the summer of 2015, I decided to try meditating. I had been studying Buddhism for awhile and a book I was reading stated that, if you really want to study Buddhism, you need to start meditating. So, that's what I did. I went to our local community meditation center and began a small
