  2. Good afternoon, It is my first post here. I am 55 yrs old, and was taking Citalopram for 5 yrs or so. I cut the dosages in half weekly, from 20 - 0. When I hit 5 mg, I started taking 100mg of 5 HTP which I have also been cutting in half. In one month, I am now down to 0 Citalopram and 25 mg of 5 HTP in the morning and 50 mg at night, with Melatonin. I have forced myself to go to the gym up to 5 times a week, and do HIIT.     Hello, I've suffered with depression for 33 years. 12 years with no medication because I thought I just needed to try harder.
