  1. I am in the process of tapering off zyprexa. I started zyprexa in 1996 and and was on 10mg until i decided to start reducing in October 2017 . I reduced it to 7.5mg for a year, and than 5mg and in April 2020 i began 2.5mg. Have been on 2.5mg for 4 months now The only thing i find difficult is the lack of deep sleep and the pain in all my joints...the pain in my joints only started happening since i started on 2.5mg..Also lower back pain, first i thought it was from my bed mattress but i changed beds and no relief...and i havnt injured myself in anyway....all i can put it down to, is my
  2. Hi, I would like to introduce myself as I’m new to the forum. I’m really glad I found this website – some really good information regarding withdrawal and can definitely see some of the characteristic signs of withdrawal in what I’ve experienced since reducing some of my psychiatric medication. So to give you a bit of background about what drove me to investigate adverse effects to psychiatric medication – both being on it and trying to get off it! (Sorry it’s a bit long!). It all started with a psychotic episode that I endured for 3 months before finally getting help. I know that I
  3. So starting feb 2020 I was put on 20 mg paroxetine and 40 mg adderall. Around may or June I had a mental break and was hospitalized and was put on 30 mg paroxetine and 15 mg olanzapine and when out also taking 40 mg adderall. In dec 2020 decided to just quit taking everything. Did not feel much but was also using alot of cannabis and dxm so it might of mask the withdrawal. Until feb 10th where I used dxm on more time then decided to stop everything. For a while I was fine but on march 17th 2021 I crashed trying to harm myself and ended up in ICU then inpatient for a week. They put me back on 1
  4. Moderator note: link to benzo forum thread - Miko789: Xanax withdrawal/tapering Hi, I'm new to the forum, I have some questions I want to ask. My doctor prescribed effexor for depression, in 2009. Now I'm free of symptoms and I managed to come off with withdrawal symptoms though. That's with the antidepressant. Now I'm on Risperdal consta from November 2013 and seroxat 10mg. My doctor prescribed with risperdal consta 3,3mg/day long acting injection every two weeks. From February 2015 he lowered the dosage to 25mg/every 2 weeks equals 1,66mg/day. I tried to lower the
  5. It all started after a 10 day meditation course 4 years back.At the end of the course i had euphoria and a bit of delusion. But in a few days i was settling down but i was forcefully taken by my brother who never was polite with me from childhood, to a psychiatric hospital where they started me on oral antipsychotics. As i was not tolerating them i wasn't taking them regularly which i disclosed to my doctor who gave me option of an injectible which i think was inj paliperidone. Stupidly ,i agreed to it.All hell broke loose that night,i was in the dumps, nobody attended to my situation.I never wa

History Its around 4 years back when i passed out my college and not get placed even after making to finals in many interviews .. that i decided to write competitive exam for PG. I had taken coaching but just before exam I came back and found myself unable to recall things. My brain is just like nothing in it. I found myself in despair and stopped studying. This fog is happening all the time since my engineering but I managed to get average marks sometimes and sometimes very good . There is more in back
  8. Hi Everyone, I have been taking Zyprexa 7.5mg for 60 days and made an attempt to decrease my dose to 5mg 3 days ago. I took the 5mg pill a single time and I could not sleep that night. The next day I went back and took the 7.5mg pill and I still only got about 0-3 hours sleep since then. I'm seeking help for getting off this drug. I've read the Tips on withdrawing from Zyprexa thread many times over. My psychiatrist doesn't support me tapering so I don't think I have a chance to get the liquid form from a compounding pharmacy. I also can't afford an expensive scale. I w
  9. Hello I always wanted to return to the site and thank all that helped me in the dark hours and also the forum owner and originator for the tireless work that has helped so many people Heres my thread when I first asked for help http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/6865-andy-hello-tapering-from-zyprexa/ I wont go into how I finally quit the drug because it wasnt the normal 10% approach although I tried 5 times and failed miserably.I found a good understanding doctor who helped me reduce and more than anything listened to me without prejudice. This helped enormously,I finally
  10. Hi @Trevor19 welcome to SA. I'm so glad you found us, but very sorry that you are having so much trouble with your drugs. Would you please start a thread for your self in the introduction forum. That will be the best place for asking questions and keeping records. 11. Hello: I am new to this forum. I am tapering zyprexa. I was put on 10 mg in the hospital at the beginning of December. In the first week of January, I cut down to 8.50, then 7.5. for 10 days. Right now I am at 6.25 mg, and have been at that level for 1 week. They decided to put me on zoloft in the hospital as it "works fast" the doctors said, and is being used "until the zoloft kicks in". I am very impatient to get off zyprexa, and figured if I join your group, I would get support from people to help me be patient and wait enough time between cuts. Still figuring out how to do the s
  12. I had the first manic and psychotic break at 2006, I was 28, mother of a small child. I was admitted to the ER and given a high dose of olanzapine and mood stabilizer, sleeping pills. I don't even remember those first few days, I was locked in a psych ward without any visit from a psychiatrist for 3 weeks. Then I begged to go home (still psychotic but they didn't know) and they let me go home, where I continued the treatment, although I was feeling really unwell, desperate even. With time I got better, then went to a private psychiatrist that put me on quietapine and a mood stabili
  13. Hi friends, My name is Gibby and I'm a 25 year old male with a diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder. I have been on medication for 5 years. I have been fairly stable while on medication, but I've been unhappy about taking olanzapine, even though my dose is very low (1.8mg for five years) and the physical side effects are more annoying than dangerous. However, I understand that serious complications can arise from taking this drug for a long time, so I've been looking to come off it for quite awhile. I started a withdrawal at the beginning of June, but it was mostly an experime
  14. I was put on 2.5mg of Olanzapine for racing thoughts/anxiety and as a sleep-aid. I was mostly taking 1.25mg though. I wish I had done the research before taking it!! I would have never taken it if I had known it would be like this, and cause such changes to the brain. So, I've decided to just stop taking it cold turkey, as I figure that having only been on 1.25mg - 2.5mg for most of the 3 weeks, and... (5.0 for 2 days near the end) it for 3 weeks total, it's best to just stop without adding length to the drug being in my system. The dose I've been taking is small also, however
  15. Hello. I´ve been doing a taper from Olanzaine, on and off, since middle of 2017. Now I´ve come to a stop, and I am ever greatful for any input. Let me explain. This is what happened: Started at 10mg in early 2017. After a few months i started to taper, with a cut of 2.5mg every 3 yeeks. I ended up at a dose of 2.5mg, then stopped taking it all together. 2 weeks later I went back to 2.5mg and stayed there for 8 months. I felt fine but very dull, as what this medicine does. Then went ahead and tried again. I cut 1 fourth of the tablet (2,5mg) and stayed for 3 weeks. Went f
  16. I developed paranoia in 2014-15 related to negative experiences at work. I was put on risperidone. It made me very sedated. For a long time, I did not realize the sedation was because of the drug. Then I discontinued the drug, and had a psychotic episode in 2016. The psychotic episode involved delusions and no other symptoms (other than negative symptoms due to the distraction and destabilization of delusions). During the psychotic episode, I lost my job and then was hospitalized. I was put on Latuda, but myself discontinued the treatment. There was something like remission, at least i
  17. Hi all, I am happy to have found your site. About 14 years ago, after my first child I had bad anxiety/insomnia (didn't sleep for 5 weeks) when my baby developed feeding/health issues. I stopped nursing and stopped domperidone (sp?) cold turkey after 2 months use(not sure if domperidone, meant to increase milk supply, can have withdrawal). I was put on a regular AD (diagnosed with PPD) and had an immediate adverse reaction. Then I was put on an older more sedating antidepressant and was able to sleep. I gained weight on it and was not recommended to be pregnant while on it. After a couple
  18. Hello guys, so glad I've found this site. This is my third attempt in withdrawing from antipsychotics and mood stabilizers. Today I decided to quit cold turkey from 10mg of olanzapine and 900mg of depakine. Risky I know, but I just can't stand the way they make me feel. Drugged up, emotionless zombie. I'm very scared of withdrawal but I hope this time I can make it through. Hope you're all well!
  19. Hello everyone, I am a long time lurker but decided to finally create an account. I've read about peoples experiences with Olanzapine withdrawal on many websites so I thought I would share my experience. I was on Olanzapine for 17 years due to a schizophrenia diagnoses, initially they put my on 5mg but quickly ramped that up to 40 mg. I was on 40mg for about 13 years. About 4 years ago I took the initiative to reduce my Olanzapine because my blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels, triglycerides levels and weight gain were out of control. I was sleeping 12 hours a day on
  20. hi, Alto I went to a local pharmacy and they helped me to compound 2.5mg pill into 2.mg. but they changed it into a capsul form. would that make a difference. now my son is taking 2.5 pill and 2capsule. what you think. the pharmacist said it is fine.
  21. Hi, I have a long history (18 years) of psych drug usage and have been on antipsychotics, antidepressants and mood stabilisers. I recently (1 month ago) started Zyprexa again because I had a crisis, and this time it didn't really work as well as it had in the past. I took 10mg and I passed out and felt awful and later was admitted to a private hospital, where various other drugs were added. I am now on 2.5mg Zyprexa and would like to get off it because I am pre-diabetic. Given that I have only been on it for a month, is a 25% reduction per week ok? I have withdrawn off it before and I am p
  22. Hello I recently withdrew from two psychiatric medications, Zoloft (Sertraline)and Zyprexa (Olanzapine) after a 15 year forced dependency which started when I was court-ordered to take them in 1998 for depression. In Feb. 2014, I finally quit the pills for the 4th and final time. The withdrawal symptoms were quite severe, probably similar to those of heroin, only instead of the people who care for you trying to help you get off the drugs, in the case of psych meds., everyone is dead set on you continuing to stay on them. I went about 6 straight days without sleep while trying to get off th

Hi ! I am not an English speaker. I was put on largactil (chlorpromazine) and Olanzapine in July for 1 month not knowing the damage it was doing. I stopped suddenly and broke down 2 weeks later because of 4 nights of total sleeplessness. I took Largactil in high doses (300mg per day) again and I decreased it in 4 months until I quit. Since I was not sleeping at all again, I was prescribed Seresta (oxazepam). Currently I take 35mg in the evening and 5mg in the morning. I sleep 5 or 6 hours with it. I had a huge trauma and I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep naturally, in addition to
  24. Hello fellow withdrawers (if that's a word), I'm Bokart and I'm here on a journey to quit my medication of Olanzapine. Down to 7,5 mg at the moment (see my signature). My story short: back in February 2015 I got admitted in psych ward due to psychosis (due to my destroyed sleep because of my night-shift work). There began my involuntary medication of Olanzapine, which pulled me out of a psychosis, so at least it did some good. I was released from the hospital after two weeks of being there. Now, after jojoing with my olanzapine dose (see signature), I'm finally set to q
  25. I have OCD and because of it I have some sleeping problems . My doctor put on olanzapine 5 mg and zopiclone 7.5 mg(sleeping pill) . Olanzapine gave me some bad side effects like problems thinking , with memory , anhedonia ,suicidal ideation and finally decided to quit .I still find difficult to focus on studies but I hope for the better .I took it for about two weeks and in the second week a bit randomly . I have one week since I stopped and apart from some sleep difficulties and some sleep hallucinations (which last night i didn't have them at all) I am quite ok . I also take supplimen
