I don't need it anymore. I am sleeping well now without anything in total darkness which is nice. I knew I could it's just because I was concentrating on my taper only. So as the Mirt goes down I'm training myself to sleep with less and less and then nothing. It's also psychological these sleeping issues too. I do think I will be fine. I'm going to make a smaller cut in a week. I make the big cut at the beginning of the month and a smaller one at the end of the month. If all goes well I should be in the 4's by January. She has symptoms of it including loss of taste. Family member and girlfriend will be getting tested. Family member has symptoms who is a first responder. Family member will stay at girlfriend's house for the duration. My husband and I feel okay so far but will have to either wait and/or get tested for Covid. He'll sleep in the guest room. We had been tested for antibodies because we thought we had it in February. It tested negative. I feel some cold-like symptoms but who knows it could be withdrawal. Just when I was complaining about being bored to death. Covid infection rate is low in New York, it's only 1%. At least my husband is retiring who also works a public job. We're in phase 4 in New York and outside/inside dining was approved. Also gatherings of ten people are okay. IMO it's too soon. People took advantage and pushed it especially young people. I understand, I was young and invinsible too. I saw a lot of people walking around without a mask. New York did a great job knocking the curve down, but they did this by everyone staying home. Grace amitriptyline from 1980-2002, intermittent use of benzos over 2 decades prior to 2002 2002-2010 Klonopin 1-2 mg., ambien 10--20, mg, remeron 4 mg. and trileptal 300 mg 2011 Stopped ambien and crossed over to valium 17.5 mg. (updosing 2.5 mg. to cover ambien C/T ) tapered valium w/ long holds to 12.74 mg. from a high of approximately 20-30 mg/day 2015-2023 tapered trileptal to 98 mg. had to completely stop tapering due to multiple chronic, serious health issues currently 2024 still on 98 mg. trileptal and 4 mg. remeron Currently on benzo hold as I have to cross-over from brand-name valium to generic diazepam. The diazepam is way weaker and brought on severe acute w/d Current dose of diazepam is 7.9 and valium is 6.6. I had to up-dose the total valium/diazepam from 12.74 to 14.5 where I have stayed since June 2023. I am crossing over to generic at a somewhat tolerable rate of .3mg/month after about 2 months of trial/error w/ updosing. I am not currently tapering; will continue to cross over. Link to comment

Hope that your tests come back negative and you can feel relief. You don't need to worry about this when you are in the middle of your taper. So please take extra care in the days ahead. We have visited a few restaurants, both inside and outside. We are washing our hands A LOT! Masks are now mandatory in public in Colorado and I'm happy to see that. Still lots of people complain about the masks, so they should stay home. School children will be another issue of "wait and see." Glad you are sleeping well. That makes this much, much easier to do. Be well, well Shebon Started 3.75 mg. remeron 4/2013. Had tapered off benzo 4/2011. Had tapered down to 1.87 mg remeron but mistakenly thought I was in bad withdrawals, when it was Synthroid again. Stopped Synthroid 3/31/3021-side effects are the same as hyperthyroid symptoms, but doctors have no knowledge of this side effect. Started taper end of 7/2021, now at 3.48 mg. daily. Link to comment

I definitely have a virus of some sort. We are just waiting for family member and girlfriends Covid test. The girlfriend has lost of taste/smell and trouble breathing, so it appears to be Covid. She is young and very healthy thankfully. If there is a positive test, husband and I will test for it also. Husband and family member have no symptoms. We have not been to a restaurant since the beginning of March. Previously we would eat out twice a week. Even though it's phase 4 and allowed, we just don't trust it. Be well. He spends most of his time with her and sleeps over half the week. Husband and I will be getting tested for Covid. Not sure if family member should come home or stay at girlfriend's. It feels like influenza except that my lower back muscle aches were extreme. I was able to lower the pain with hot baths and pads. I would have taken Ibruprofen but some studies say not to take if you have Covid. It could make it worse. I have extreme fatigue, upper respiratory systems and sore throat. I have cold sweats but no fever. I am lucky that it is not in my lungs. I took the Covid test today along with my husband. He has no symptoms. If I caught Covid it was from the girlfriend when the four of us shared a birthday cake together in the house. Usually the family member and girlfriend will stay on another floor of my home when she visits. I have stopped tapering. Too bad I was on a roll. I had some other strong virus, but what are these viruses that come in July? Maybe it was a sinus infection, who knows. I am still recovering from it but I am improving. It will be 2 weeks Tuesday. I get tired easily and I think I am in a wave because of the virus. This is nothing new to me. Whenever I get a strong bug I get a wave. Unfortunately one of my recently deep filled molars are starting to hurt. I know this means another root canal. I am waiting to feel a bit better to make an appointment. I need to lose some weight so I am going to concentrate more on losing slowly, watching the scale every day. I'm just holding my dose until I get back to where I was. I feel that once it's gone it will be easier to lose, but I would like to lose a little now. I used to be a gym rat. Now I'm lucky if I have the energy to walk. Once I am out of this wave I'll try to do more. How is your taper going? It looks like you are very low on the Pristiq. Thanks for stopping by. I am now in my 18 month wave. I am spacey, dizzy, heavy head, inflamed sinus, feel a bit like I'm on another planet (is this derealization?), doom and gloom, feel stupid and incoherent, weak, uncoordinated, nausea, achy, teeth and gums hurt, zero energy, confused, can't concentrate, and worst of all poisoned feeling. This is what I call the benzo flu. The wave was triggered by the virus I am getting over. This is a bad wave for sure. A strange thing happened in the middle of the night. I was sound asleep and I woke up from a terrible, terrible dream. It was so vivid, but so bad I won't share it. I was sobbing in my dream apparently and was sobbing when I woke up. I dried my tears and told myself "Hey listen, this is just one of your w/d nightmares." I went back to sleep and that was that. I had a HORRIBLE day yesterday. Today isn't great but it is definitely better than yesterday. I am still cutting trileptal at a snail's pace but the withdrawal continues even more powerfully the lower I get. I just try to make it through whatever each day gives me...knowing that the next day will likely be completely different. Grace amitriptyline from 1980-2002, intermittent use of benzos over 2 decades prior to 2002 2002-2010 Klonopin 1-2 mg., ambien 10--20, mg, remeron 4 mg. and trileptal 300 mg 2011 Stopped ambien and crossed over to valium 17.5 mg. (updosing 2.5 mg. to cover ambien C/T ) tapered valium w/ long holds to 12.74 mg. from a high of approximately 20-30 mg/day 2015-2023 tapered trileptal to 98 mg. had to completely stop tapering due to multiple chronic, serious health issues currently 2024 still on 98 mg. trileptal and 4 mg. remeron Currently on benzo hold as I have to cross-over from brand-name valium to generic diazepam. The diazepam is way weaker and brought on severe acute w/d Current dose of diazepam is 7.9 and valium is 6.6. I had to up-dose the total valium/diazepam from 12.74 to 14.5 where I have stayed since June 2023. I am crossing over to generic at a somewhat tolerable rate of .3mg/month after about 2 months of trial/error w/ updosing. I am not currently tapering; will continue to cross over. Link to comment

I remember when I got that horrible influenza in the winter of 2018 I was ill for a month and then I had to recover from that. It was that really bad flu year. It is totally crazy that each day is different in w/d isn't it? I find if I take extra long holds I can get some kind of stabilizing. I am having some big health problems so cutting this much at this rate is all my body/brain will accept. I am seriously B12 deficientand I am trying to remedy that which makes tapering that much harder. Take care. Hope the dental work holds off a bit. I tested negative for Covid, but I think it's possible I had it. It was in some ways stronger than any influenza I've ever had. I am still waiting to get my root canal. The endo that I trust is not available for 2 weeks, but I'll wait for him. I can manage the tooth by hot water salt rinses and avoiding eating on that side. We have quarantined since March together (he worked from home) and no issues really. We can spread out in the house when we want alone time. Yea what a bugger that virus was. It's a terrible thing. I hope there is a vaccination soon. As bad as my nervous system is, I would take the vaccine. I'll probably have a CNS reaction like I did last year with the flu shot, but what the hell I want to live. Yes I will not rock the boat and hold my dose. My husband and I have 56 years in education between us. (I retired early due to health problems; he retired early when I became disabled). We both loved our careers but it was hard, and it has only gotten harder. (updosing 2.5 mg. to cover ambien C/T ) tapered valium w/ long holds to 12.74 mg. from a high of approximately 20-30 mg/day 2015-2023 tapered trileptal to 98 mg. had to completely stop tapering due to multiple chronic, serious health issues currently 2024 still on 98 mg. trileptal and 4 mg. remeron Currently on benzo hold as I have to cross-over from brand-name valium to generic diazepam. The diazepam is way weaker and brought on severe acute w/d Current dose of diazepam is 7.9 and valium is 6.6. I had to up-dose the total valium/diazepam from 12.74 to 14.5 where I have stayed since June 2023. I am crossing over to generic at a somewhat tolerable rate of .3mg/month after about 2 months of trial/error w/ updosing. I am not currently tapering; will continue to cross over. Link to comment

If I feel dizzy hubbie is home now to drive me to the root canal guy, haircut, etc. The tooth I don't notice too much except if I think about it. Twelve days and counting to get it done, down from fifteen lol. I don't get waves from dental work including the Novacaine. I tried Carbocaine once and it did not last long enough and had to get another shot, plus I had a wave from it. We had out first dining out experience. It was a beautiful night so we sat outside at socially distant tables. I ate too much and got a belly ache. Darn Mirt making me binge. Starting to care more about my appearance which is a good sign. Slowly coming out of it. I have rashes from the Mirt. I got rid of one and working on the other. Did you know that Mirt causes fungal infections? I am going to start stretching since all my muscles are tight, maybe do a couple situps. Start slow and build myself up. That's the way to do it. Be well everyone. We have started to dine out only at restaurants that have outdoor seating with social distancing. It is very pleasant now that the weather here in NY is perfect. It feels like California weather this time of year. My root canal is next week and luckily my tooth is okay as long as I don't mess with it or eat on that side. After the root canal I'll cut another .10 mg, so a total of .30 mg cut for August. My 32nd wedding anniversary is coming up. We'll celebrate at a fancy place. Wish I could drink alcohol. We would be traveling now and probably would be in Maui celebrating our anniversary. I'll have to see if I will hold after the root canal or not. Last time I cut after a root canal, but I waited some days until I felt it healing. That is what I will do. As far as the tasting the sangria, I test myself every six months or so to see if I can handle alcohol. It's better than it was since I would get wavy the next day after a dish like chicken marsala. By testing I mean only a sip or two. At some point I will try a half a glass of something weak. I think mirt and alcohol don't get along anyways. marie123 Posted August 25, 2020 Author Share Posted August 25, 2020 Hello everyone. Withdrawal wise I am doing fine. The other night my tooth that needs root canal started hurting so badly. I knew it had to be infected by the funny taste. I had taken 2 ibroprofen to try and control the pain so I could sleep. It did not work so I remembered that I had leftover antibiotic from last year. I figured my tooth was infected at this point and knew the antibiotic would help. So at 1 AM I took the antibiotic and it worked. I slept peacefully the rest of the night. I got a regular script from my dentist. He is so hesitant from prescribing antibiotics for some reason. I know what words will get him to do it. It's not my tooth hurts. I have to say, "I'm in a lot of pain. I can't sleep." That does it. He must have had problem patients that always asked for meds. I had to wait 18 days so far for this endo. I am his first appointment on Thursday when he gets back from vacation. I could have gotten one right away, but I waited for the very best of the group. The A/Bs have kept me out of pain so far. My hubby picked up my liquid med today. I really don't like him picking it up because I think he'll miss if they screw it up. I gave him the old bottle and said, "Make sure it looks like this and filled to here." Well he came home with the correct med/dose etc. but the label on the bottle was different. I freaked a bit because it now had an official script label with my doctor's name on it. I called and the pharmacist told me it is just we changed our policy and now put this label on it. I asked if I would have to have my doc call in for refills. He said no and that I could just get the refills. I thought he called my doctor and I was screwed and had to make my own solution next month. This actually is much better because I was day dreaming about a nice vacation and could now take my med through security. I was thinking all last week of schemes to get my liquid med through without this real label I would put it in little shampoo bottles, but I needed it to be refrigerated. I'd put it in ice in a thermal cup to bring to the airport. In the bathroom I would put it with my real little shampoo bottles in the carryon. After security I would get ice from an eatery and put it in my thermal cup. I would then get more ice on the airplane. Now I could just put it in a small med cooler, show security and wiz through TSA. I still would not trust TSA, and would take some pills and liquid in a small shampoo bottle. One time I had my scripts, clearly labeled with pharmacy label, in my purse (so 3 of them) and in Puerto Vallarta they called over security and they scrutinized it for a while, and finally decided not to take it from me. Though one of the scripts was a controlled substance, (diazepam) it shook me up quite a bit. I was treated like a criminal. We used to split up my meds as much as we could to carry on (ie: purse, backpack and 2 small carry ons) just in case they took it from one and not all sources. I never had to deal with liquid, so I think you are wise to think this out as best you can. So you would board the plane with an empty thermal cup and then get ice again? We haven't flown in quite a while but even water bottles weren't allowed past security and onto the plane. Maybe that particular airline was profit-driven and wanted to sell bottled water. Anyway, rules change frequently. Maybe a call ahead would help to know exactly what is allowed past the gate. I wish you well. It was so much fun when I had three meds to do this with. The way they are making the label now for the liquid at the compound pharmacy it looks like a real script. Previously it just had: Mirtazapine 7.5 mg/5 ml and expiration date, with no doctor name or script number etc. on it. Now it looks like my doctor ordered it which is a good thing (as long as they don't call me doctor lol). You know that my doc does not know I am having it converted to liquid. He refused to write a script. So I just called this pharmacy, told my story, and got very lucky. I just bring them 30 pills each month to convert. Most want a doc's script. I am a planner and worrier and at my age I know I won't change, but at least I can try to worry less? First place I'm going to is California, then Hawaii, then Vegas on the way back when Covid is over. I think I can now ask the steward/stewardess to put the med in their refrigerator on board with the new label. Marie. 10/13--10/14 Ambien. Started tapering 1/14 Jumped 10/14. I am lucky because mine does whatever I ask, but when he retires (coming soon) I will have to doctor shop. I have nightmares just thinking about it. Grace amitriptyline from 1980-2002, intermittent use of benzos over 2 decades prior to 2002 2002-2010 Klonopin 1-2 mg., ambien 10--20, mg, remeron 4 mg. and trileptal 300 mg 2011 Stopped ambien and crossed over to valium 17.5 mg. (updosing 2.5 mg. to cover ambien C/T ) tapered valium w/ long holds to 12.74 mg. from a high of approximately 20-30 mg/day 2015-2023 tapered trileptal to 98 mg. had to completely stop tapering due to multiple chronic, serious health issues currently 2024 still on 98 mg. trileptal and 4 mg. remeron Currently on benzo hold as I have to cross-over from brand-name valium to generic diazepam. The diazepam is way weaker and brought on severe acute w/d Current dose of diazepam is 7.9 and valium is 6.6. I had to up-dose the total valium/diazepam from 12.74 to 14.5 where I have stayed since June 2023. It's very sore and I have been taking ibuprofen and an antibiotic. The tooth got an infection a few days before it was treated. I am also taking Culturelle probiotic. In the past I could not tolerate any of the three. I would get insomnia, waves, etc. It's good to see things get better. Went out today for an outdoor socially distant brunch today which was a nice change of pace. I feel bad about the wait staff. What a difficult job to do and I am sure their hours have been cut. I still have a ways to go digging myself out of this hole. It's slow but I do believe I will do it. After all, I am a stubborn old (but young-at-heart) lady. Stay safe and be well everyone. marie123 Posted September 8, 2020 Author Share Posted September 8, 2020 It is time to cut again. The root canal is healed up. Two days after I got the root canal I went for my hair appointment. I walked in and the stylist was not wearing a mask. I asked her about it and she complained about allergies and it was making her sick. She should have told her clients so they could choose to come or not. I traveled a half hour to use her so I decided to stay. Bad mistake. I came down with a a bad cold two days later. I am sure it was her since I had not left the house since then. I call BS on her and she knew she was sick. I am still coughing some but feeling a bit better. I think now that fall is coming I won't go for haircuts for months and cut my own hair. I believe a second wave of Covid is coming here. I was watching some tutorials on youtube and I think I can do it even though it is layered. I found my haircolor online and that will be easy. I'm ordering a good pair of hair cutting scissors. My spouse is cooking up a storm now that he has retired. He is making a chocolate cake and later making chicken meatballs. Yum. I will cut .21 mg tonight and be down to 6.35. Glad to hear you did not have COVID, but maybe so, with all the false negative tests. If you did, you made it through....a big congrats on getting over that nasty virus, whatever it was. I have stopped going to the hairdresser and started cutting my hubby's hair and coloring my own. I think to myself, why didn't I do this a long time ago? I had a root canal the second week in August. I waited for it to be over with and healed too before I did a cut. They are awful, aren't they? They terrify me..... Anyway, here's to your cut and mine....down to 1.75 mg. Doing well too!😁 Stay well, Shebon Started 3.75 mg. remeron 4/2013. Had tapered off benzo 4/2011. Had tapered down to 1.87 mg remeron but mistakenly thought I was in bad withdrawals, when it was Synthroid again. Stopped Synthroid 3/31/3021-side effects are the same as hyperthyroid symptoms, but doctors have no knowledge of this side effect. Started taper end of 7/2021, now at 3.48 mg. daily. Link to comment
