I saw another doctor yesterday, he was very understanding and helpful

he basically said the brain never stops healing, it is 'incredible'. he told me 'permanent rewired reward pathway' is a paradox as anything medication changes, the brain eventually corrects it and recovers

just thought id share that for people who are also scared and suffering

Thats great to hear Blaine, does he understand that you are in withdrawal from tramadol?

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

Different drugs occasionally (mostly benzos) 1976 - 1981 (no problem)

1993 - 2002 in and out of hospital. every type of drug + ECT. Staring with seroxat

2002  effexor.

Tapered  March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads.

Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013

Restarted taper  Nov 2013

OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015    :D

Tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014

Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg

 July 2017 30mg.  May 15 2018 25mg

Taking fish oil, magnesium, B12, folic acid, bilberry eyebright for eye pressure.

My story http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/4199-hello-mammap-checking-in/page-33

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible

Hi Blain,

It took me years self struggling and adjusting my mindset to full acceptance to the most horrible setback. I was put on ssir for a headache and was having a perfect life in every way.

It's the most difficult step but I found full acceptance is the real start of healing as you will save energy struggling in that area for taking good care of the present you.

You are already out of the woods, time and patience will eventually provide healing and health back.

I'm still battling every minute reducing dose, and never know if I even can make it to the end off drug. I'm bed bound today from sickness and pain allover from the recent 1% cut being like this for 2 weeks already. I hope you feel better knowing how much more damaging these drugs can be.

is anyone suffering from 'Anhedonia' ? - if so, its a sign of down-regulation of receptors, probably serotonin receptors

Like everything else we feel or don't feel in WD, Anhedonia comes and goes in waves and windows.  It is, however, frequently one of the last things to go.  Some people have it bad until after they jump off, while for others is clears up as they taper.  It is one of the symptoms that it is really good to practice AAF on, as there is nothing you can do about it but live with it as best as you can.  Like a bad house guest, ignore it long enough and it will eventually go away.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

i can see what you are saying, theres no time frame and thats whats so worrying, i constantly think 'will i be better next year? or 5 years...or never?' etc

has anyone been in withdrawal for multiple years and finally one day recovered?

would love to hear some positive accounts

thank you tgirl, that is some amazing stories, im so glad people get through this and become happy again

ive been on some forums today and someone told me that withdrawal from ssri's can take many years because of 'auto-receptors being stuck'

apparently its the main reason why PSSD takes so long to recover from, serotonin receptors are stuck

Blaine, your doctor is highly unusual in that he or she has given any thought at all to "prolonged withdrawal syndrome."

What is your doctor's position on tapering? If you can recommend him or her, please add contact information to http://tinyurl.com/7cp8l8v
