Soul 1 Year Off Zoloft, Cymbalta

I agree that the DP/DR are terrible and feel like the root of many other symptoms because ~perceptualy~ everything feels 'off' and disconnected ~ causes me to feel anxious and uncertain of myself and how I appear to others (although nobody has said I seem weirder than my usual)

A very disturbing and disorienting feeling that colors everything and probably leads to isolation from usual supports IMHO

I totally agree. That, and the "dread" feeling, which kind of go hand in hand for me.

'94-'08 On/off ADs. Mostly Zoloft & Wellbutrin, but also Prozac, Celexa, Effexor, etc.
6/08 quit Z & W after tapering, awful anxiety 3 mos. later, reinstated.
11/10 CTed. Severe anxiety 3 mos. later & @ 8 mos. much worse (set off by metronidazole). Anxiety, depression, anhedonia, DP, DR, dizziness, severe insomnia, high serum AM cortisol, flu-like feelings, muscle discomfort.
9/11-9/12 Waves and windows of recovery.
10/12 Awful relapse, DP/DR. Hydrocortisone?
11/12 Improved fairly quickly even though relapse was one of worst waves ever.

1/13 Best I've ever felt.

3/13 A bit of a relapse... then faster and shorter waves and windows.

4/14 Have to watch out for triggers, but feel completely normal about 80% of the time.

Hi Soul,

I read through your thread and saw where you were diagnosed with gluten intolerance ... research has proven that Hashimoto's thyroiditis is present over 50% of the time when gluten intolerance (or Celiac Disease) are present. Doctors ... endocrinologists ... are notorious for missing this diagnosis until the TSH lab value gets high enough that it exceeds the normal range. Until that happens the doctor will tell you, "all tests are normal."

Some of your symptoms may be due to a thyroid condition. I recommend getting a copy of the labs that your doctor ran. If the doctor didn't test for thyroid antibodies, have them tested - you will need both, Thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb); Thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb). If you have any antibodies at all you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis (the lab may say that < (less than) some number is normal, but that means you are not currently having an attack, but you have had an attack). This is an autoimmune disease. I can direct you to another internet board who can help you interpret thyroid results if you want to look into this path.

Have you gone religiously gluten free? That is something else that may help. I mean down to avoiding cross-contamination of your gluten free food. Have you checked make up, shampoos, and lotions for wheat?

I have Celiac Disease and Hashitmoto's thyroiditis and I can tell you that I had awful pains and symptoms until I got proper treatment. I was relieved to learn that there was something treatable that was responsible for the symptoms I was having.

Just hoping to help ... I hate to see you suffering for this long.
