I'm applying steroid cream to make itcomfortable, or it'll get worse (been there done that, not good).

Be very careful, JC.  Steroids, even in cream, can throw things off big time.  I just had to do a couple of days to deal with some inflammation and I paid a price.

Best,

Andy

I know Andy,

None of it's good, I'm in survival mode with the job, so have to mitigate annoying symptoms like eczema so that I can keep up the work output.

I knew I'd get hit with inflammation.

Best,

JC

Hi everyone,

I so hope you all get to enjoy Christmas / The Holidays and the New Year.

We just spent a lovely 2 days in London.  VERY packed with shoppers but lots of Christmas spirit including the wonderful lights on Regent and Oxford St.

Went to the gym twice at the hotel and ran on the running machine, but not for very long.

Got our chicken to roast and plenty of veggies.

The burning pain in my right side persists.  Therapist said it was IBS, but I'm convinced it's an ulcer.

Will be making a GP appt to rule out anything nasty, although it started up after my new job started; so that seems to be fairly indicative of a stress-related symptom.

Thinking of you all, and a HUGE thank you for your support throughout a very sad and difficult year.  Especially to all the Mods.

Love and hugs,

JC xxx

Completely unable to rationalise it as just IBS. ☹️

Has anyone on SA suffered from a stomach ulcer before?

Could you tell me what your symptoms were?

Would be much appreciated.

Hi junglechicken,

My dad suffered from an ulcer years ago and he started eating sour apples (acidic). I never heard him complain after that. He used to take a lot of carbonate to neutralize the acid buy that ramped up his symptoms.

This worked for my father, I'm not saying it'll work for you. Talking about it with your doctor is probably the best thing you can do.

Hope some sa member can help you with this.

Good luck with this and hope you heal soon.

Thank you Jozeff,

These are "new" symptoms which only started up after I returned to work (after a 3 yr break).

The burning sensation and pain on the right side of my abdomen are prominent.

I'm back to catastrophising again as I'm unable to believe that "this too shall pass".

All I can do is see a GP who can rule out the "bad stuff".

I'll start drinking the ACV though.

Best,

JC

Hi Aquarius,

Thank you for stopping by, much appreciated.

No, I didn't see your posts about the burning stomach pains.  It's the same for me, made worse by eating and stress.

Will check out yours and manny03's threads.

Did you guys talk about your symptoms on the GERD thread?

Hi Jungle.

I had an ulcer when i was 15.

Were you describe the pain in in tthe duodenum. You can get duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers.

My symptoms were stomach bloating, pain, heart burn and a general all round sore stomach. My ulcer burst and my stools went black... i required a blood transfusion.

You can pop to the gp he will do a H Pylori test. Its a stool sample and that lets thwm know.

Hope that helps

Leo.

The duodenum is located on the right side.

However as you know.... stress and wd can cause all these symptoms too.

Gp sounds the best port of call.

Thank you Leo,

That sounds awful at such a young age.

I know that ulcers were discovered to be caused by pathogens.

My burning pain is definitely right-sided.  It's only been happening for just over a month?

Going to get the GP appt sorted out ASAP.

How was yours treated?

I had to have an endoscopy.

I was given antibiotics and i was on a drip.

Mine was a bad case remember. Yeh at 15 it was scary. I was in hospital for 2 weeks.

Antidepressants are really bad on the gut and can cause stomach bleeds and ulcers. Dont take Alka seltzer or ibuprofen. There bad for the gut.

Just go see the GP ASAP.

There well managed and good outcome.

I would maybe put my money on the stress tho. However stress is a big cause of ulcers

Smoking is bad aswell for ulcers oh and alcohol.

I've got an appt booked for sat 12th Jan.

Aquarius, it's the usual story of ruling out serious illness.

Have got a busy job, and need to be able to focus on that as opposed to illness 😳

Had to apply steroid cream to make it comfortable.

Well, TBH I was just as cranky and restless (no purpose etc.,) when I wasn't working.

Having a purpose and goals have always kept me going I guess.

No, I haven't heard of steps2wellbeing.....will check it out.

Have just had a look at steps2wellbeing, and it seems to be an NHS initiative being run in Dorset only.

Are you Dorset based Aquarius?

Just came here to check your thread, and yup my symptoms were of burning stomach sensations and or aches/sharp pains around left or right flanks, and or shift up and down my abdomen. The Burning sensation has faded away, crossing my fingers. Now its cramps, IBS like symptoms (diarrhea or constipation). Also, I wake up around 2am, Jolt up, and have an odd sensation on my abdomen. Then, if not I'm shaking, having flu like symptoms, insomnia, and nausea. These symptoms began to happen just after I quit work due to them lying to me regarding the position I was hired for. My g.i. symptoms/withdrawal symptoms had resolved themselves.  with the place I was working, I had plans to save up money to do a week tour of Asia, purchase cinema equipment since I'm an aspiring filmmaker, though once I quit, it seems my CNS didn't take it too well. Plus, add fuel to the fire, my dad got sick with the flu, he passed it to me, and lets says my five months of recovery were thrown to the side, and I'm almost starting from scratch.

I had posted in the GERD thread, though its a ghost town. That's why I've been posting in my thread or in @Aquarius's thread.

Hi Manny,

Sorry for the late reply, I feel like I'm in constantly playing "catch-up" on SA now, and still haven't replied to other people who have kindly responded.

My burning gut sensation has calmed too.  Have been taking this alkalising powder as a drink before meals.  On top of the work stress, certain monthly hormonal changes seem to have affected my gut too.  Am seeing my GP on 12th Jan to rule out the "bad stuff" like ulcers etc.,.  Have also had IBS cramps but suffer more from C than D.

You've certainly had a very stressful time of it.....had you had the burning gut sensations before your job situation? For me, this was a first, and very alarming (as with all "new" symptoms).

Dont give up on your film-making dreams, I am sure you can make that happen, and that sucks that that company lied to you about the role.

JC

I had suffer from heartburn like symptoms until 2013 when I was given medications that treated it. Never had any symptoms until my antidepressant began to poop on me in summer of 2017. The pains and burning came back with the other anxiety symptoms. Then, one I C/T everything went belly up, and every symptoms including this got worse. At the moment, I experience ibs like symptoms, or weird sensation when I eat on my abdomen and anus (tmi) the burning sensation I've had last night though it occurred in my right obliques area and as far as I know the stomach or esophagus doesn't extend to that area. Hence it's either my anxiety/ibs/withdrawal playing tricks with me. Plus I had ultrasounds and nothing was found besides healthy liver lmao!

Got that horrible and unnerving feeling of:

Being on the verge of a panic attack / inner trembling / over-stimulated CNS / heart attack.

😒

Have no idea what has triggered this.

Hey Aquarius,

That's the first time I've experienced a white feather falling out of the sky, and floating down in front of me.

I'd love to believe angels or my father had a part to play in that happening, as timing impeccable.

Maybe our similar symptoms just are? No triggers involved.

My gut burning has completely subsided (thankfully), but I have been taking Alkalising powder in water before meals for about 2 weeks now which may have calmed the gut down??

Bowel movements seem to be becoming more normal too since my huge change of routine - up at 5:30am, in office for 8am after 3.5k walk.

Can you try some calming herbal tea?

I know, I hate the inner restlessness.  Just hope I wake up tomorrow and it's gone.

There is no rhyme or reason with some of these symptoms.

Hope you get some relief very soon.

 @Junglechicken

Glad to see you've had improvements with your GI. Though, with the panic attack like symptoms, I had those on New Years Eve, and last night to the extent I had a case of the tremors. I had to step out and take a breather. It was horrible. I had no triggers. :'(

@Aquarius

Over the last few days, the G.I. symptoms have being waning down. Though, I don't want to jinx myself.  Once in a blue moon feel the gut warming sensation which great news :D Though, your experiencing the same thing that I did several weeks back were I would wake up at 2am with burning sensation on the pit of my stomach. Only with time, it will calm down. Perhaps try to cut down on dairy and oats and grains which has helped. Now, I just feel weird sensation on my abdomen, left and right obliques when I begin eating that goes away as I continue to eat (seems someone stunted my G.I. track and my food or movement jump start it. weird) or have the sensation before a bowel movements or pass gas TMI lol! However, those symptoms are calming down from how it was a few weeks back which is a plus. It's true when they say that withdrawal messes up with the G.I track. I hope with time it goes away.

To be frank I miss the head pressure since at least I kinda knew what it was, even if it was three months constant headaches since G.I. symptoms are scary. Though, like ChessieCat has mentioned our CNS mending itself, and we just have to go with the flow.

Hi JC,

Just been reading bit of your thread. Hope the stomach issues have settled down for you. I experienced a bad case of gastritis that lasted about three months a few years ago and it was terrible....never had anything so bad, well until withdrawal that is.

As for the inner restlessness that is horrible no doubt about it. Worse when it just comes out of nowhere. But as you know this too shall pass.

Hope your doing ok and hopefully things settle down for you.
