Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted January 5, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 5, 2016 Wish I could read the information on this site my mind gets tired, hard to concentrate, hard to remember, maybe I'm just thick......my brain becomes easily frazzled Hi Rose, It's not just you. I have found recently that my memory isn't as good as it was. I'm getting very strong recall on things in my past (not bad stuff, just memories that are so clear) but finding it harder to remember the recent things. Also have trouble finding words that I want to use. So we are either both thick or more likely just in WD. Moderator Emeritus bubble Posted January 18, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 18, 2016 Thank you for the updates. It's great to hear things are going so well. Yes, nausea is a withdrawal symptom. The short explanation is that stomach is frequently called our second brain because of the number of serotonin receptors it has. They are pretty much everywhere in the body. That's why removing the drug affects us all over the place, stomach being very common area. It seems that this has so far been the only reaction of your body to reducing the drug. I would wait for it to go away before making the next cut. Rose9975
So much information on this site. On my road to recovery I attend therapy and swear by accupupunture for stress management. My process is all about self-regulation and self-compassion.I am a social worker & I see how my clients all display lack of emotional regulation skills and the ability to manage anxiety.Again, each job change gives me more insight into understanding my attachment issues & in turn I am developing more compassion for my self and others (some days are better than other's! !@@).It is that simple yet that complex. The simplicity to 'love yourself' and 'breath'come home to yourself. Moderator Emeritus KarenB Posted March 27, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 27, 2016 Hello Rose, Crying is a great thing to do, even if you don't know why you are crying. Listening to your body and allowing the tears to flow will help with all sorts of healing. Then, follow up the cry with some really good love and care for yourself. Fresh air, hot bath, hot cup of tea, call a friend. Give yourself all the soothing and love you'd give to a child in that state. Rose9975
I would be grateful for some feed back on my tapering process please? Should I hold for a month to see if my symptoms settle? Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted March 27, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 27, 2016 Hi Rose , it would be helpful if you add dates to your signature. Do you mean decrease by 2.5% instead of 5%? (I'm a social worker too , and math isn't my strong point) 26 March: ".I have run into difficulty around 19th March (17mg Lexapro). The main symptom is FATIGUE. How many days after your decrease was this? Yes , smaller cuts will have less impact on your cns - less symptoms , quicker recovery. You might also hold for longer than 4 weeks if it takes that long to feel normal again. It's not about following the calendar , but listening to your body. My suggestion is to wait until all w/d symptoms have resolved after a decrease , then wait another 2 or 3 weeks. That way , you have a few weeks of being more functional while your brain consolidates the adjustment. 1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg 2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Moderator Emeritus Fresh Posted March 28, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 28, 2016 Excellent work with adding the Jan / Feb. dates , now just add March and you're done. After 11 years , your brain is only used to functioning with the meds. on board , and you're sensitive to any small change. Lots of people find 10% too big of a cut , and do smaller ones so the symptoms are less debilitating. See Micro-taper instead of 10% or 5% decreases There's also a cumulative effect of several cuts too close together , so that the first one in Jan. may have been fine , but by now you'll need a long hold (8 - 10 weeks) to stabilize. 1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg 2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Moderator Emeritus KarenB Posted March 28, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 28, 2016 Hey Rose, I'm having to go really slowly too - even slower than you. It's frustrating eh, not to be able to go as fast as others. Some of us just seem more sensitised. And I always think the most important thing is to take good care of yourself along the way. Having a good hold can help too. I've been holding now for 2 and a half months, to see if I can get more stable and perhaps then taper by larger amounts (although they'll probably still be smaller than what most people do). Fresh gave you a very good link. Hugs, Karen 2010 Fluoxetine 20mg. 2011 Escitalopram 20mg. 2013 Tapered badly and destabilised CNS. Effexor 150mg. 2015 Begin using info at SurvivingAntidepressants. Moderator Emeritus bubble Posted March 28, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 28, 2016 Hello Rose and sorry that this cut rocked the boat so much. It will go away and with time you will find out what is the best rate of taper for you. You will see that this passes and you won't be so very scared next time it happens. You are doing a lot of good thibgs for yourself so everything will be fine. I see crying as a blessing. This is a journey during which we have to learn a lot of acceptance of the human condition. It's natural to feel fragile and weak at times. I just wondered if there had been anything in your life around this particular cut that made you extra vulnerable... I hope your symptoms ease soon.
