Colonial
I had a reaction to Gentimyicin eye drops... When I would close my eyes there would be all these weird geometric shapes and evil looking faces... So I read the pharma insert and it says: possible side effects"hallucinations".. PoetJester
Hey Rich just wanted to check in. hope you are doing ok. i have been dealing with the instant hallucinations thing upon closing my eyes for almost 4 years now. its the worst. sleep deprivation causes them (hypnagogia) and in turn they keep you from sleeping. sheer hell. or the vicious cycle. some of the visions can be quite psychadelic, but still, i would rather sleep. i have gotten rid of them through reinstating during previous wd's in 2005 and 2006, but i was closer out time wise those times and now after 4 years of this my body feels pretty ravaged. i had been taking remeron off and on the past few months as a way to get past the hallucinations and to get a little more sleep, just so i can function and be able to leave the house, but that's been affecting my brain weirdly (headaches, blurry vision,) and now i am breaking out in rashes that are leaking pus out of my armpits. last night nausea. i am allergic to the stuff and think it's attacking my lymph system. i have seen two doctors who refuse to say the rashes/pus are from the remeron. nothing like wasting my time and what little energy i have to meet with careless doctors. i didn't take anything last night and went back to my 2 hours of sleep on the couch and two 1 hour toxic naps that are brutal to wake from. i biked 10 miles to the er this morning on two hours of sleep since it's a national holiday and the buses aren't running to see if there was something that could be done about whatever is happening to me, but wasn't shown a lot of sympathy as usual. i was so tired i even forgot to ask for something for my nausea. i pushed myself to go because i feel like i am dying on these no sleep days and now with the nausea it is especially hard coping. i get about the same concern from my family, even though i feel almost ready to fall over most days. my internet service went down last week and i needed to order some peppermint pills that were helping with my digestion problems. i texted my little brother to see if he would order them for me and i could write and send him a check. i got a text back asking if i " had got a job yet" and that i am "always asking for help and never doing anything for myself". i am so weak and sick some days its ridiculous, but i can't quite get through to him what i am going through and he's pretty young. it's frustrating. anyways Derek Court committed to take Prozac, Paxci, and Respiradol from 8/95 to 3/96. developed severe akithisia and brain damage. Was unable to speak and walking in circles 15 hours a day. Went in for 5 sessions of ECT during a 10 day period in March of '96 and my forced medication was discontinued at that time. My akithisia and brain damage cleared up within a few days of stopping the meds. On Zoloft (200 mg) and Zyprexa (17.5 mg) March 1998- Feb 2014 In between was placed on Effexor 200 mg and Abilify for six months in 2004. Developed mild akithisia which went away once I stopped the Abilify. Developed severe GI issues in Dec 2001 and from that time on suffered from fatigue and hypersomnia where I would sleep between 12 and 20 hours a day and rarely ever left my apartment. Had tapered to 100 mg of Zoloft and 7.5 mg of Zyprexa at the time of going cold turkey Feb. 2014 Went 5 days without sleep at the beginning while vomiting all over my apt. Had brain zaps for a number of weeks and also lightheadedness which both eventually went away. However 2 1/2 yrs later I still struggle with insomnia, depression, and fatigue. Link to comment
Roxyrich
Hi derek. Lack of sleep is definitely the worst problem. I do get random nights, where i sleep quite well ,but it often gives me intense head pains the next day. Do you get relief in the evening ,i usually start feeling better after 6pm till bed time. I get out of bed in the morning and then wish my day away every day. My friends and family are very supportive, although don't fully understand what's happening to me. Even i don't know what's happening to me. I wish we could just get our lives back buddy. Opiates 18 months 2010 to 2012 Prozac 12 months 2012 to 2013 Prozac 7 doses of prozac late November 2015. Roxyrich
My story began 2 years ago, when i took Prozac for a week ,then had an adverse reaction to it. I'm going to cut a long story short, after around 11 months of waves and windows i found myself feeling a lot better, not there, as i still had issues with dizziness and strong rumination, but 90% better. I was taking propranalol throughout this process, and had no problems with it. Also at this time my pharmacy kept switching brands , which made me think one brand was hurting me due to probably paranoia, so i told the pharmacy and they got me my preferred brand. Then in April 2017 i was told i could no longer have my preferred brand of beta blocker. At this point i was down to 20mg a day from my original dose of 40mg , which took around 4 months to get to. But when i found out in march about my preferred brand running out in april ,i tapered the last 20mg in 1 month. 1 month later in may 2017 i had a severe dizzy spell ,followed by a severe headache, which lasted for 2 days . Then i felt fine again. About a month to six weeks later the same thing happened again. Then it started happening every week till the beginning of September when i was hit with symptoms not seen since the beginning of all this. From then on, my condition continued to get worse till i posted on here and my friend colonial suggested it could be from tapering to quickly. This sent a shiver down my spine, i had never even considered beta blockers could do this ,but i was so ill i started to take them again . I reinstated the full dose 40mg. After reinstatement i have seen some improvements. My sleep seems better but still not good, and ive had windows. I'm reluctant to think too much about this Due to fear of what's next. Which brings me to the point. Did i slowly start to get better to then due to errors on my part ,fully re destabilise my cns due to its partly healed state. And i guess my biggest concern, will i heal if i stick to taking propranalol ,and staying stable, for as long as it takes. Sorry for a confusing tale , please feel free to ask me anything, i need to feel i can get past this. bheb
Hi rich. When did you reinstate at 40mg? I think I mentioned this over on your thread, but I think it's very likely that propranolol masked your reaction symptoms as well. It may be a combination. Propranolol could've been masking your symptoms, and going off it may have let those symptoms resurface in addition to destabilizing your CNS. chrona
I am curious about propranolol. is it habituating? I withdrew with no problem but I was still taking gabapentin. have even thought to try to use proprolol to help me withdraw from GB. many years ago given sinequan for depression bad reaction so tiny dose of meleril to balance... quit after a year or so c/t years pass no drugs reg doc had me try all of the a/d bc of upset due to divorce. couldn't handle any. took klonopin to sleep .5 mg 2003 taper klonopin hooked on tramadol accidentally. 2006-2008 husband had migraines and took them like candy. so i became dependent too. c/t 2008 diagnosis of porphyria after years of symptoms, then toxic event made me really ill. gabapentin 300mg every 3 hours , 6x day. propranolol 180 mg 6x / day since 2012 clonazepam prescribed as 1 mg / day but beginning to take more to deal with withdrawals and sleeplessness Link to comment
PoetJester
Hey Rich yeah, i am so tired of this (no pun intended), too. i do feel better in the evenings, or at least not as stressed about what all the sleep deprivation is doing to my health. usually, i get a boost around 7pm or so after spending the day stumbling around the apt in slow motion or sitting on the computer feeling pretty hopeless but hoping for the time to pass until evening. i am sure you are probably all too familiar with the routine. some of your posts i could have easily written myself. i used to have an occasional good sleep night now and then earlier on in wd in 2014 and 2015. one night in 2015, i really slept well after going for an 8 mile night walk and occasionally i would have days where i could get 5-6 hours of sleep at night and even a nap later on, but those days were rare back then and almost nonexistant now and i mostly feel miserable and tormented. when i lay in bed to sleep, my breathing is so shallow and depressed, it's almost like i am not breathing at all. the hypnagogia has gotten so bad that i usually can't nap during the day unless i have taken something the night before and the naps i do take when i haven't taken anything, are only an hour long no matter how tired i am and have me waking up feeling toxic, like my blood is almost acidic with extremely tight muscles and a stiff neck and my eyes look like hell. . . . i am looking into ways to alkalize my body. i read that making potato broth can give a big potasium boost. also boiling bananas in there skins and making tea from the banana broth is supposed to be a good sleep aide. when i have taken remeron my tormented mornings/ tolerable evenings is reversed- on the remeron, i sleep pretty well, but wake up feeling totally thick in the head and almost brain dead which goes away after a couple cups of strong coffee. then for a while my mood is ok if i put on some music, but by evening i am hit with total lethargy and fatigue and just end up watching tv. i can also take naps on the stuff, which is nice even though i wake up without much energy and have a hard time even getting off the couch. i had noticed some good moods and my hunger coming back earlier on with the remeron, but that has gone away and now when i take the stuff, my brain feels like it's swelling inside my skull and my moods are not so good. figuring out what to do for myself in the exhausted state i am in has been difficult. i am sick of being my own doctor. all the sleep deprivation has been so hard on my body. i feel so heavy some days and i am sure going without much sleep is not doing my heart much good. my face still makes me wince when i look in the mirror now. anyways. Derek Court committed to take Prozac, Paxci, and Respiradol from 8/95 to 3/96. developed severe akithisia and brain damage.
Roxyrich
I reinstated on 8th of October. The only thing is this is not a wave, i had waves last year , and the last one was really nothing, it didn't make any difference to my day to day life. I'm hoping it was caused by the propranalol, or what else could. Some answers i dont want to contemplate. Roxyrich
I was feeling better about 3 months ago, But i feel ive been slowly getting worse again. The strange thing is i was having really linear waves and windows which were easy to understand, but since February waves are getting longer and windows virtually non existent. I'm in a really dark place most of the time. Sorry i couldn't be more positive, its why i don't post more regularly.
