I Agree, don't over think every little thing and blame yourself for every little symptom.  But do be careful about not too much exercise.  I wouldn't go lifting weights or jogging.  Only got 4 hours or so of sleep last night myself.  Ugh.

Thanks guy's. Feeling a little better this afternoon, I still find it hard to believe you can feel so different in the same day. I swear if I ever get over this I'll never complain about anything again.

That is awesome! So on a scale of 1-10 with 10 feeling the best how would you rank how you feel today compared to how you felt when the adverse effect first happened?

Lexapro: started in 2002 at 10 mgs.

Ambien: started as a as needed sleep aid in 2010.

Quit Lexapro cold turkey in June 20015 due to contributing to low sodium issues.

Restarted Lexapro in late November for a week (only 5 mgs) but quit due to dizziness side effects. Side effects worsened for 3 weeks until

12/24/15: Protracted WD hit, experienced extreme anxiety, insomnia lack of full concentration and social challenges.

Reinstated Lexapro on 1/1/16 at 5 mgs. Increased per Dr to 7.5 MG. Tapered off Lexapro in March 2016.

Started 50MG of Seroquel in late January 2016 for bedtime to help in eliminate Ambien. Tapered off both Seroquel and Ambien in March 2016.

2/14/16: Prescribed both Remeron (15 MG) and Temazapam (15 MG) for sleep. Also use Klonopin and Ambien again in place of Temazapam to avoid addiction. However I did take Temazapam 60 straight days

6/15/16: Stopped use of all benzo's and now use Belsomra 1-2 times a week. Still on 15 MG of Remeron

10/11/16: Off all psych medications

After kindling, trying to regain my strength suffering from severe mental and physical fatigue.

That is what is so disturbing.  I can go from being bedridden, pretty sure I'm literally dying for 90 minutes...and be up cleaning the bathroom and goofing off with the dog a mere 3 hours later.

It's the craziest thing that's ever hit me colonial. I was in bed this morning till 10.30 with flu symptoms, then mooched round the house all day, then picked up around 4pm.I guess we're all in the same boat.

Hi Christian, I think when the reaction happened , if we call that a 1 , I think earlier today would be about 5 but over time the pain doesn't seem to change because your brain plays tricks on you.

It just hurts.

P's. I guess right now the numbers about 7.

I'm at least lucky that I've stabilized to the point that I know when it will hit if it does, 4-8pm.  So I do anything I need to and be home by 3:30.  But the first 2 weeks of this round, from Jan 7 - 21st, it was come and go anytime.

The good news is once you have gone thru a certain symptom a few times or for a few weeks, you learn coping skills for it, and, most importantly, you learn that it's not going to kill you. I think that initial fear and alarm is just as bad, and traumatising, as the symptom itself.  It resolved once and it will again.  The best thing is the beginning is usually the worst, since you learn never to make dosage cuts that deep again, and you've learned so much by being here that everyone else that's gone thru it is still breathing and sharing their insights. So that the next round of dealing with the symptom isn't as bad because it's not accompanied by as much panic, alarm and worry.  :)

I have to agree. Last night when I got my head pain , I'd had it twice before accompanied with adrenaline rushes, but because I'd had it I knew what it is and didn't panic. so no adrenaline.

I don't like to say too much because changing symptoms still scare me , and I feel defeatist when panic sets in.

I hope confidence comes with time.

I've just been browsing your thread colonial, I too have the semi consious state where I dream vividly even though I can still hear the TV. It's like being asleep and awake at the same time. And I usually wake to thumping heartbeat.

Yes, confidence does come with time.  The semi conscious-unable to move episodes, for me, happen after meals, about 30 min if it's going to happen.  I have learned to try not to eat too much during that "danger zone" time of 4pm. Once I get to 9pm, I can usually eat anything and it doesn't affect me.  But it generally will only happen then.

Had a good day today, not too bad sleep Last night. I always have headache after a good sleep, and it makes me get up.damn it.

Had a friend from work visit me today, after I'd explained everything to him he was better able to understand it.I think even though I feel withdrawn, it felt good to get it off my chest.

How's colonial been today? .

Three good days in a row.until now.I can't believe how different you can feel in the same day. I shouldn't complain, I've been helping my girlfriend lay flooring in the conservatory, it seems every time I do something, it brings on a wave.I often wonder if this slows healing. and if it does are we meant to do nothing. very frustrating.

Sorry, I didn't get a notification of your post the other day!  Not too bad today so far, thank you!  Although only slept 5 1/2 hours.

(...I've been helping my girlfriend lay flooring in the conservatory, it seems every time I do something, it brings on a wave.I often wonder if this slows healing. and if it does are we meant to do nothing. very frustrating...)

This happens to me as well, if I do "too much".  Of course what "too much" is is another learning curve, and symptoms may have come anyway and it could have been coincidence. That's why keeping records of what you "think" triggered symptoms is helpful.  Obviously,we can't "not" do anything but maybe when you're feeling better, next time only do half as much "work" and then rest.  It takes a good bit of time to learn your bodies reaction to too much physical labor as opposed to coincidence.  Remember, your body is already over working itself 24/7.  Sometimes just eating too much and adding the digestive process is enough to do me in.  It's kinda your bodies way of saying:  " I can only perform one major bodily function at a time, and I'm trying to heal."  So when I changed to smaller meals and smaller periods of physical exercise there was improvement.

HUGS!  :D

I know what you mean when you say , coincidence or exercise.

I've had 3 good days, so it was probably coming anyway.

It's funny but you'd think with 3 decent nights sleep, I'd feel refreshed ,but I feel as tired as if I'd only slept for 3 hours a night.

Also I keep getting flashbacks to my life before my reaction , about work or childhood. Things I'd forgotten, I suppose the mind holds memories, even if we think we've forgotten them forever.

You said you've had 5 and half hours sleep. is this regular or rare for you these days, do you have a pattern, or is chaos.I see most of us suffer insomnia, I think it's a common w/d symptom. It's probably the biggest shame as you can't escape from it unless you sleep.

I hope your doing well colonial, if you don't mind, can I ask where your from,I'm from Yorkshire, England near Leeds.

Do you both think there is a direct correlation to insomnia and concentration issues?

Hi Christian, yeah definitely. When you've only had a couple of hours sleep, the next day is one of confusion, I can't get a handle on what to do. So I tend to do very little on these days.

Normally I would sleep 7 1/2 to 8 1/2.  Now I usually get at least 4 1/2 to 6 1/2.  Which, considering what Christian is suffering doesn't seem like much to complain about.  But this round is from a mere 10% drop in dose from a med I hadn't dropped in 6 months!  And I'm into the 6th full week of symptoms.  Granted, I was withdrawing from another med in the past 6 months, so it's not like my body was completely rested.  But it shows me why it's so important to make small cuts, like Alto said, and see how you do.  If I had dropped 20% I may only be sleeping 3 hours like Christian.  What I dislike is the manner in how you feel upon waking, or when trying to fall asleep when you can't.  Not quite an anxiety attack, but way too stimulated and with some fear.

I've never had trouble sleeping before this but I would only assume that any insomnia, even that which is not WD Related has to eventually affect cognitive function.

(...It's funny but you'd think with 3 decent nights sleep, I'd feel refreshed ,but I feel as tired as if I'd only slept for 3 hours a night....)

EXACTLY!  I think that's because as I mentioned, your body is still "trying" to heal while you're sleeping, it's never really resting.  And I'm in New Jersey, in the Mid Atlantic!

Struggling today, dizziness, racing brain, decided to take half a magnesium citrate 50 mg , made the dizziness worse and my eyes feel funny , like thats what is causing the problem. I knew I'd over done it yesterday. Also I started tapering the beta blockers. So now I'm wondering if this has something to do with it. Although I could be over thinking that. I am so sick of feeling bad.just trudging through it minute by minute. arggg.

Roxy.     What are you on the Propranolol for ?   What is your tapering schedule ?  And lastly, what did you overdo ?

Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014

"... magnesium citrate 50 mg..."

Is that the right dose to begin to see if you would have a reaction?  Again, you are so early in the process it's hard to say what IS COINCIDENCE and what is any new supplement.

"...Also I started tapering the beta blockers..."

I have learned tapering more than 1 thing at a time is not always wise. Sometimes the combined reaction is worse than the 2 of them individually, yet combined, would be. If your tapering more than one at a time it will be hard for anyone to really know what is causing any symptom and how to go about advising you.

Hi Ali and colonial, Firstly I spent all day yesterday laying a floor covering.and moving furniture. And even though I felt ok ,I kinda knew I'd feel bad today.

Secondly, I was put on beta blockers for anxiety when I came off prozac. I was supposed to take 3 10mg tablets 3 times a day.but as I wasn't sleeping,I was taking a forth 10mg tablet at night to calm me down. But now I often miss this tablet if I sleep. So I thought tapering the one tablet was probably a good idea, well better than missing it.the taper is 12 and a half percent, and was going to stay at this for a month , then taper the other 12 and a half percent another month. then settle down on the 3 remaining tablets till I feel a lot better.

Sorry, I'm a bit off today.

Withdrawal will produce anxiety in and of itself.  Many people who never suffer from anxiety get it when in withdrawal from many things, such as pain killers, etc.  Just go slow, sense if the anxiety becomes worse you won't know if it's just from the withdrawal or from the original anxiety you had.
