some one told me to do this   - my doctor switched me to prozac to taper off the paxil because prozac has a very long half life. Was able to take the prozac for a few days and then just stop without

A little update, in April I cry around 4 to 6 times, 30 second each time. In may I cry around 2 time 30 second each time,  the Third time I force myself to cry it last around 30 second. In June I didn’t cry at all so far, but I feel depress, but sometimes I feel like crying but nothing come out.  I don’t know is it window and wave pattern or am I at the honeymoon phase,  I stop my Prozac 1.67mg around almost 4 weeks ago.

Viper, I've asked the other mods who are more familiar with Prozac to advise, but it's possible you may need to reinstate.

Please don't do anything until a more Prozac-experienced moderator has a chance to weigh in. It will help if you can answer a few questions:

1. Do you have any Prozac left?

2. You said on you stopped your Prozac at 1.67mg almost 4 weeks ago, but in this post on May 14 you said you were going down to 1.47mg. Did you go down to 1.47 mg and then updose to 1.67 mg before you stopped taking it altogether? It's important to know what your last dose was in case the other mods recommend a reinstatement.

3. When you say "I have to stop taking Prozac because I have a lot of problems with it" - what symptoms did Prozac cause?

Thank you Shep,

no I didn’t take 1.47mg, I just stop taking 1.67mg, because I have major brain fog, very depress, blurry vision, headache, and alots off other symptoms. Right now some of my symptoms all gone. But I still have depression, a little crying  spell and anxiety but no panic attack so far. The second last time I tapper I have worst major panic attack that why I went back on med.

Hello Altostrata,

I am sleeping around 6 to 8 hours a day, I wake up around 3 to 6 times a day, but I fall back to sleep within 2 to 5 minuets.

I cry for no reason. I don’t know if I am in withdrawal, or in a window and wave or my symptoms are getting better. Because two years ago when I quit Paxil I cry for 3 months, each month I cry average 400mins, but in 2018, April, and May I cry total around 12 times (total mins around 10 mins for the two months) in June I force myself to cry, the crying last only 30 seconds.

Stop forcing yourself to cry.

It looks to me like you are very gradually recovering from going off Prozac. Please try to stop fixating on your symptoms.

How did you taper Prozac?

Did you have any withdrawal symptoms after you went off it completely, two months ago?

I was tapering for 10 months starting at 10mg, I was tapering .5mg every two weeks when I get down to 4mg I start to tapering 10% every two weeks, I got down to 1.67mg that when I jump off. When I tapering my symptoms was anger, depression, headache, blur vision, confusion, panic attack, anxiety, no crying,  around the 8 months mark I start to cry so I take 5htp 100mg for 11 days it didn’t work so I quit the 5htp. around the 9 months mark i take cbd oil for 6 days 1 to 2 drop per day and than I have one of the worst episode of crying and I feel like Suicide, it was the worst symptoms I have in my life it last it for 3 minuets. So that why I quit the cbd oil and two weeks after that I jump off of Prozac 1.67mg. For the 9 weeks I am off Prozac I feel like depress and I cry once in awhile. Than I am fine for a few weeks.

Why did you choose to stop at 1.67mg? Please update your signature.

Many people do better with fish oil and magnesium supplements, see

A lot of people find them helpful. Try a little bit of one at a time to see how it affects you.

Hi Viper,

What great news that you had a window for two and a half weeks. Looks like your brain is working really hard to repair itself.

Wishing you many more windows💚

Been on antipsychotics, benzos, antidepressants and painkillers for chronic pain.

Have been cold turkeyed and put on and off all sorts of things.  Was suicidal n ended up in a psych ward because I had akathisia from withdrawals. I can’t remember what I was put on but when I was released was in the same predicament with severe akathisia n was suicidal again.

Back to the psych ward and I was given a number of different drugs while there. Tapered off one when I got home n have been trying to taper off Seroquel since. It’s been years, tapering slowly but still having severe withdrawals.

I’ve  tapered from 300mg of Seroquel to 7.5mg./ March 10th 2019=7.25mg / 17th of April 2019= 7mg / June 5th=6.75mg/ July 14th=6.50mg/ 28th of August=6.25mg/ 10th of Oct= 6.20mg/ 21st October 6mg/ 16th of December 5.80mg/21st of January 5.60mg/

Sometimes it can feel like we are.  But your brain is busy trying to regain homeostasis or factory settings.  This might help:

It would be like if the World Trade Center Towers hadn't completely fallen - but had crumbled inside in different places.. Imagine if you were [...] to rebuild the tower - WHILE people were coming and going and [...] to work in the building!  You'd have to set up a temporary elevator - but when you needed to fix part of that area, you'd have to tear down that elevator and set up a temporary elevator somewhere else. And so on. You'd have to build, work around, then tear down, then build again, then work around, then build... ALL while people are coming and going, ALL while the furniture is being replaced, ALL while the walls are getting repainted... ALL while [...] is going on INSIDE the building. No doubt it would be chaotic. That is EXACTLY what is happening with windows and waves.  The windows are where the body has "got it right" for a day or so - but then the building shifts and the brain works on something else - and it's chaos again while another temporary pathway is set up to reroute function until repairs are made.

Hi,

this is my 7 month update, I have a cold for 5 weeks, I feel depress and tired all time. And I have 1 or 2 crying spell that last only 20 seconds and have bad thoughts comes and goes. But overall I doing a little better. I know 7 months is early in withdrawal, I hope I can turn the corner in 3 to 5 months. I am just scared of the depression and crying. I collect a lot of success stories from benzo buddies and surviving antipressant sites. I read them everyday to help me push though this feeling.  On benzo buddies site there are around 1500 success stories and around 2700 benzo free celebrations so total 4200 success stories and on surviving antipressant site we have around 100 success stories.

Hi, a little update

This is my one year off of antidepressants,

on January 01 I quit Omega 3 but on January 24 I have a suicidal feelings that last two days and it went away, on Feb 14 I did TCDS for 5 days, I don’t know if it did anything so I decided to stop using it. On March 01 I started to gamble and I was feeling fine, but around 2 weeks ago I got a fever , so I decided to quit gambling and stop my vitamins C, D and magnesium at the same time. So right now I feel very depressed. I don’t know which one is causing me to be depressed. Is it the fever, quitting the vitamins or quit gambling?  Or is it that I need to try TDSC again? Should just wait it out?

If it was me, I'd be restarting the magnesium, Vit C and Vit D straight away.  You've only been off them 2 weeks, or possibly less.  You could then restart the Omega 3 after a few weeks.

I think it would also be a good idea to do some relaxation/deep breathing throughout the day (3 or 4 times).  Set a reminder.  This helps to calm the nervous system.

Gambling can give you a buzz, and when you stop that feeling goes, which is how some people end up becoming addicted to gambling.  Gambling can also be stressful on your nervous system.

Q:  Are you drinking alcohol and/or beverages containing caffeine?

Stopping the gambling, alcohol and caffeine and making sure you have a healthy diet with some light exercise and relaxation/breathing exercises all seem like sensible things to do.  It would be a good idea to find alternative things to do so that you aren't tempted to return to gambling.

Thx, ChessieCat

Some peoples tell me to stop The Vitamins c and d for one month to reset, and start take them again. I don’t drink alcohol. I read on google that when you quit gambling you go through withdrawals for around one month, so maybe The fever, quitting the vitamins and gambling that give me the depression. I just hope this shall pass soon, I still have 2 to 3 weeks before I start my vitamins again.
