Rapini
I'm having some difficulty getting my mirtazapine tablets to dissolve properly in the water. I have noticed a white film on the bottom of the bottle after I have taken my dose. What am I doing wrong? TheCircle
Hi all, I read in the forum that most diluted AD could be kept in the fridge covered for 3-4 days. I am tapering with escitalopram diluted twice, and noticed on the 3rd day that the taste of the liquid (tastes bitter and chemical) was waning. Has anyone experienced the same waning taste on 3rd day with that drug? I have therefore been consuming the solution over 2 days since. My rationale is that is the taste is waning, then maybe its effect as well but I might be completely wrong. If anyone has some guidance on this, I would be happy to hear. Cheers! 01-2019 / 07-2019 Mirtazapine for burn out symptoms (insomnia mostly) 07-2019 / 12-2020 Escitalopram 10mg 12-2020 / 07-2021 Escitalopram 5mg, fine overall 08-2021 Escitalopram 5mg every other day start tapering and fine 09-2021 Escitalopram 5mg every 3 days tapering continue and ok 10-2021 Escitalopram 5mg every 3 days tapering and starting to feel tiredness and also depressed 11-2021 Back to Escitalopram 5mg every other day. Improving 05 to 09-2022: Tapering 10% every 3 weeks. Fine. 10 to mid 12-2022: Tapering 10% every 2 weeks. Fine. Mid 12-2022 to mid Jan -2023: Tapering 10% every week. Fine. End Jan 2023: Edgyness appearing, then dysphoric mood. Am holding on 0.65mg dose for the moment.

I do not believe that the fact that the taste is waning is any indication that the active ingredient is changing. I believe that your diluted liquid should still be good for 3 or 4 days. graininthegrooves
Hi All, I've had an issue that's been touched on quite a few times. But, nothing specific enough with what I'm experiencing so I thought I'd ask here. I also read in various places in the forum that anti-depressant solutions can be kept in the fridge for 3-4 days. I recently switched over from oral suspension to oral solution, so that it is possible for me to dilute and handle smaller doses much more easily. What I didn't realise is that, the doses I've been taking have until the past week been at least a little inaccurate. And perhaps coming with containing degraded medication. As, I noticed the problem mentioned elsewhere of crystals forming and a possible precipitation issue. The problem is, this is happening almost immediately. The water turns cloudy from my sertraline oral solution syrup (and according the to information booklet this is expected) and when I come back to the homemade solution the day after, there's "sediment" settled in the bottom which I then have to shake in order to suspend. This is defeating the purpose of my original issue when using pills to taper down. Does anyone have any experience with why this might be? The prevailing thought from what I've research on the forum, is that the precipitation shouldn't become an issue until 3-5 days after the making of the solution. What's exactly happening to cause the sediment? Is the water causing a reaction with the drug? Or is it the dissolved minerals in the water, e.g. calcium and magnesium salts that are reacting? If so, would perhaps distilled water fix the issue? In terms of its effect on my symptoms. I'm having more frequent tension headaches but my main concern is the extremely loose and water dirrhoea that has very suddenly become a morning routine (I take my dose just before bed so this seems to fit). Any thoughts you all might have on how I can make this whole thing more practical is very much appreciated. The oral solution 100mg/5ml is so concentrated that without diluting it, it essentially becomes inaccurate and difficult to at my current dose (29mg). October 2013 - Started 40mg citalopram 2015 - Tapered off of citalopram slowly over six months against Doctor's advice by cutting up pills until I could not longer cut them any smaller. 2015 later - Doctor convinced I had a relapse of depression rather than discontinuation. Placed on sertraline 100mg. 2022 - Diagnosed with ADHD & began lisdexamphetamine as required. 16/10/2022 - Tapered to 10% reduction using pills and pestle and mortar. 02/02/2023 - Tapered to 50mg and held for 9 months due to withdrawal symptoms from inaccuracy of pestle and mortar method and GP unwilling to prescribe oral suspension/solution. 15/11/2023 - Tapering 10% reduction every 4 weeks using oral suspension sertraline - minimal symptoms. 28/02/2024 - Switched to oral solution as easier to dilute to smaller dose (now at 29mg Sertraline)
