I have been reading other threads by ppl going off lexapro like us, and it seems to be a common thing that when you hit the 2.5 mg area, you actually start to have more problems going down, and not less.

Hello @Blondiee1915 I have been reading through your story and I swear it could be ME writing it! I'm only on the first page of your story but this comment by @Happy2Heal hits so close to home because I just passed the 2.5 mg point in my Lexapro taper and w/d symptoms have jumped into overdrive! Such a nightmare.

But I'm looking forward to reading through both your stories in the next few days and I'm sure I'll be able to find hope and encouragement. Any advice or tips you have for me is greatly appreciated. Especially because, like you Blondie1915 I also have hypothyroidism and am taking Armour Thyroid, as well as dealing with adrenal issues. I'm sure I'll have more comments to make as I read through your page but I wanted to leave one now to say thank you for sharing your experiences here on this forum.

@catmamathank you for stopping by! I’m glad my thread is helpful.  Lexapro is one nasty drug.  My only words of advice would be to do the best you can, when you need to rest - rest, don’t push yourself too hard and continue to remind yourself that it is not you it’s really the drug.  I saw so many specialists and spent so much money as I was convinced that there has to be something wrong it cannot be WD and nothing helped (except for thyroid treatment).  I saw a naturopath, chropractor that wanted to prescribe tons of meds, I got vertigo and saw ENT, I had a sleep study done bc I thought I had sleep apnea or something, neurologist, had. GI profile done did a treatment for bacterial overgrowth, had allergy testing done, and even a psychic! I took tons of vitamins did lots of diets like no gluten, no dairy.  But it made little difference.   My blood work was always wacky.  Now I’m still taking Luvox (I had to reinstate in order to keep my job as my anxiety was getting the best of me) yet I feel pretty stable and I don’t take any vitamins/supplements.

I must say that I still have anxiety issues and I cannot fully blame my anxiety on WD.  I feel pretty stable now days, I go to the office only a few times a week and work from home for the rest of the week and it helps sooooo much.  I still struggle with social anxiety and need to still get help with that.  I also had a baby and that alone gave me so much more life and happiness that I never knew existed.  I don’t sleep much but even with little sleep I’m able to function and just go with the flow.  I still have dizziness and it is worth with little sleep.  Fatigue is always there too.  But I just learn to continue on no matter how I feel.

04/10 Luvox 25 mg PM, Nortriptyline 1 mg PM

03/08/19: Buspar 2.5 mg AM, 5 mg PM

01/01/19: Xanax 0.125 AM 5 times a week. Occasionally, 0.125 twice a day AM & noon

12/18 Armour Thyroid 60 mg (for hypothyroidism)

Supplements: B Complex, B12 (adeno), multi-vitamin, D, Adrenal Cortex, iron

  • Lexapro 20 mg 2007 - 2013 with various attempts to stop
  • 2013 found a new Dr and started trying other meds: Prozac, Notryptoline, Effexor, Buspar, Gabapentin, Paxil, Nardil
  • Lexapro 15 mg 2015 - 04/2016
  • Vibryiid 10 - 15mg 05/16-06/16
  • NO MEDS 07/16 - 10/31/16
  • Reinstated 10/31/16 at 2.5 mg lexapro, increased to 5 mg
  • 1/13/17 switched to Luvox 50 mg before bed
  • 1/20/17 Luvox 37.5 mg PM
  • 12/18 Luvox 10 mg PM, Nortriptyline 2 mg (started Nortriptyline 06/17 at 10 mg)

@frogie hiiii! Thank you for not forgetting about me :) I’m doing great!  Hoping to resume taper soon but not in a rush.  My baby is 6 months and is my biggest motivator.  I am lucky to work from home a few times a week and that really helps my mental state.
how are you? Did you finish your taper?

I must say I do have one nasty physical symptom - awful crawling and tingling sensations in my feet and hands at night when sleeping.  It keeps me awake and the only thing that helps is getting up and walking around.  I think it is neuropathy.  From my research neuropathy can be caused by toxins which I think are SSRIs !!!! Not sure I can do much about it :(
