Indeed.  Thanks, Cigale, for your supportive words.  I think it's just a bump, short-lived, I hope, a few things catching up from the last stages of my taper.

In our tiny village there is a great cranio-sacral therapist, and I felt much better after she worked on me for an hour.  I go every week, and it is a great boon to me.  A big healing hug to you, and I hope the little updose to 4.9mgai has helped.

I have reinstated my 5 mg again from August 2020 .

2018- tried to taper but not according to the correct 10%

Quit at the end 2018 .

Thanks for checking in with me, Johni.  I'm about 5 weeks out from zero on Lexapro and am doing fine with that.  I few blips here and there but basically okay.  My main project now is doing my benzo crossover from Ativan to Valium (necessitated by the fact that there's no Ativan in the entire country of Ecuador).  I'm a week and a half into the six-week crossover and doing okay with it.  My plan is to complete the crossover and switch from 3 doses a day to one, then once I'm stable start tapering.

I hope you're doing well.  You will get off the Lexapro too, just give it time.

how your switch over is going

It's a bit rougher than I had anticipated, due I think to the fact that (using the most conservative Ashton crossover rate) the Valium doses don't kick in for a week while the decrease in Ativan brings near-immediate interdose WD.  So my symptoms have ramped up quite a bit.

My hope is that after the 6-week crossover (I'm at mid week 3) and then the two-week switch from 3X daily to once daily, the Valium will finally fully kick in and grant me some stability.

One good note is that I haven't had a paradoxical or otherwise bad reaction to the Valium (to the best of my knowledge).

Thanks for asking, Sunnyside.  I know you've had your issues with your cold switch and I hope they're resolving.

Sorry to hear that the crossover is causing problems Gridley. Just a thought, if there are problems with  interdose withdrawal symptoms from the Ativan, would a tiny "rescue dose" be of any help to tide things over until the valium has a chance to kick in? I'm talking tiny, as in the tip of a toothpick dipped in liquid or a brush of powder, and only if things get pretty bad. Should only have to do it for a few days until the valium ramps up.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Sorry to hear this, Gridley. However, you always strike me as being very calm and resilient and I know you'll get through it. Still tricky, though. You've shown immense patience.

I'm okay, just ticking along, sleep is still the lingering issue. Waking too early sometimes. I reckon I'm getting about 6.5 to 7 hours sleep, sometimes broken, which I guess isn't too bad for someone with a wonky nervous system. Have finally cut out the sugar so let's see if that helps. Still haven't cracked my cuppa tea in the morning habit.....

Anyway, good to hear from you. I'm sending you hugs and good wishes from London. For further healing.

Good wishes to your partner too, and hugs to the pups 😊

I'm always happy to hear from you, Sunnysideup.

I'm about in the middle of week 5 of my 6-week crossover (plus another 2 weeks to get my three doses down to one).  I don't know if Valium is as good a fit for me as the Ativan was, but there being no Ativan in Ecuador the switch was unavoidable.  I'm still getting used to the new dosage numbers (Ativan is 10X as strong as Valium!) I'm looking forward to getting my dose down to one bedtime dose for sleep purposes, and if that works it'll have been well worth the effort.

I know you know the ups and downs of drug switches, and i hope you're feeling some stabilizing.  And a very happy new year to you, my friend.

I sure do, @Gridley! Drug switches are NOT easy. But I do know they even out eventually, thanks to you guys and your constant reassurances, and I'm pretty sure that will be the case for you.

Stabilization is happening here despite all the world craziness. I'm so much better than this time last year and have learned to better accommodate the ups and downs. Fingers crossed, I'm hoping to begin a taper next year.

Anyway, have a great New Year. Speak soon and love to you and yours 🤗

Eliminating the Ativan seems to be working okay, a few ups and downs.  A couple more weeks and the crossover will be done and I'll be ready to start the Valium taper.  I'll be so glad to be free of those benzos (all in good, slow time of course).

Yes I'm pretty sure you'll be glad to eliminate benzos ...and this time will come !

During my taper, I found that it was helpful to stop thinking about "0mg", and I started to celebrate every little drop as a victory. And we can say that you are starting to accumulate a bunch of victories !

Yay to more victories to come ❤️

Hi Gridley, I wanted to see how the Valium taper is going? What are your biggest issues to date, if any?

Been on medication since 1999. Previous medications include Remeron, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, Xanax, Ativan, Valium.

Since 3/20 CT’ed MMJ, fast tapered 10mg Lexapro and 2mg Abilify (was on each for about a month) and tapered off 50 mg Amitriptyline.

Klonopin: doses varied since 2001; currently on .5 mg

Supplements: Magnesium citrate: 250 mg; Fish oil: 1200 mg

I would say it's going well.

My biggest issue initially was significant depression, which I understand is a common side effect of Valium.  The depression has lessened quite a bit (maybe because of my lessened dose as I taper) but I still have a tinge of it.  I never had this symptom as a side effect from my previous Ativan.  The depression is mild, so I'd say the switchover from Ativan has been a success, and I'll be able to tolerate the Valium as I taper to zero.

Also on the plus side, I've been able to consolidate my previous three doses of Ativan to one dose of Valium before bed, and this has helped a good bit with sleep.  I'm able to fall asleep without difficulty a couple of hours after I take my dose, waken around 1:30am or 2am, then am able to get back to sleep from around 4am to 6:30 or so.  That's an improvement.

Plus it's less hassle to take one dose instead of three.
