Affirmations

I just added this section to my website and thought it'd be good to post it here as well. Has anyone had success with repeating affirmations? For myself, I feel the good effects of repeating them often. I'll post what's at my site and if anyone knows any other good ones, I'd love to hear:

 

"Affirmations are positive statements that describe a desired situation, and which are repeated many times, in order to impress the subconscious mind and trigger it into positive action. In order to ensure the effectiveness of the affirmations, they have to be repeated with attention, conviction, interest and desire." - Success Consciousness

 

 

I am healthy and happy

 

Every cell of my body vibrates with energy and health

 

My body is healthy and functioning in a very good way

 

I have a lot of energy

 

Loving myself heals my life. I nourish my mind, body and soul

 

I comprehend fast

 

My mind is calm

 

I choose love, joy and freedom, open my heart and allow wonderful things to flow into my life.

 

I am calm and relaxed in every situation

 

My body heals quickly and easily

 

My thoughts are under my control

 

I am my own unique self; special, creative and wonderful

 

I am at peace

 

I radiate love and happiness

 

Life is a joy filled with delightful surprises

 

I am surrounded by love

 

I trust in the process of life

 

Everything is getting better every day

Good topic.

 

When I had more severe withdrawal symptoms, I used to say to myself over and over, "I'm going to be okay, I'm going to be okay."

I do not know if this fall under the topic of affirmation. I guess one would call it visualization/imagination instead.

 

Very often I have heard and seen (documentations) that if you imagine certain things you body/mind will work on achieving those. For example there was a cancer patient who imagined that his "good" cells grew much faster than the "bad" cancer cells and that was a huge factor towards his recovery. There were much more of those cases and doctors could not explain how and why the persons healed.

 

Another person told me that a relative had multiple sclerosis. She could not do anything more than just lying in bed. But when she had ended in this situation, she took up the "fight" and imagined in detail how every single nerve tract grows anew and healthy. She healed.

 

I am going to try this as well and see if it helps my healing. I very much believe that it will.

I use affirmations all the time - if I find that the withdrawals have disconnected me from the Great Spirit and I feel alone I use inspiration from Marianne Williamson and state that "I am willing ..." for me being "willing" to shift my thinking or my beliefs breaks the doubt.

 

"I am willing to believe that the Great Spirit (God, Christ within, whatever you call the higher power) provides my divine supply"

 

"I am willing to believe that the Great Spirit (God, Christ within) is healing my mind and body"

 

Another thing I do is cast the burden ... "I cast the burden of anxiety, fear and doubt on the Great Spirit (Christ within) and I go free to live my own divine right life successfully."

 

As to the idea of imaging the body overcoming cancer, I have another example of "mind over body." I used to dance and the form of dance was called Luigi Jazz technique. Luigi (so named by Gene Kelly) was in a near-fatal car accident and the doctors told him he would never walk again. In his mind he imagined his body moving (his motto is "never stop moving"). Luigi set his goal to not only walk again, but to dance ... and he did. The last I heard he was still teaching master classes at his dance studios in New York - if it works for the physical body, why not the mind? In Luigi Jazz technique you press down as if at an imaginary dance bar - your muscles move in opposition with the entire body balanced and aligned ... the whole body as if suspended by a string through the crown of your head, shoulders pressed down across the back as if pressing on the bar, buttocks tucked, pelvis tilted back, quads pulled up to support the torso with a slight flex at the knees to allow movement - it prevents injury and strengths the body from the inside out. It is really quite a work out just doing 30-45 minutes of warm ups. It was a form of meditation for me and I do miss it. One of the other things I remember is that when you want to pirouette you find your balance and think "up" - ironically it works well in life, too.

Yes, I too believe that visualizing is very effective.

 

I like your affirmations Karma. I see Divine Will as Power. A stronger affirmation.
