sunnygirl12
Sorry I just saw this, how is it going I've been on Remeron for 17 years for insomnia. In 2015, my doctor dropped my dose from 15 mg. to 7.5 for a month and then CT'd... then he substituted Tamazepam for 2 months and then I CT'd that. I reinstated Remeron after 2 months. I tried to withdraw Sept. 20, 2016 until the first week of November 2016. I tapered too fast... going from 15 mg. to around 10.75 mg. After 5-6 weeks I reinstated to 15 mg. I waited about 5 months to taper again because my insomnia was really bad. I started tapering again in April of 2017. My current does is 8.5 mg. Link to comment
Shebon
Hi Sunny: I finished 7 nites at 3.50 mg. and so far, so good (where's the wood cause I'm knocking). My next reduction will be 3.25 and then 3 mg. I'm just glad to be going in the downward reducing direction. You will be off soon and your advice and knowledge is priceless!! Hope you stick around... Best regards, Shebon Started 3.75 mg. remeron 4/2013. Had tapered off benzo 4/2011. Had tapered down to 1.87 mg remeron but mistakenly thought I was in bad withdrawals, when it was Synthroid again. Stopped Synthroid 3/31/3021-side effects are the same as hyperthyroid symptoms, but doctors have no knowledge of this side effect. Started taper end of 7/2021, now at 3.48 mg. daily. Link to comment

mikeyboy
Hello Remeron / Mirtazapine people. I am in the same boat as you. After a 15 month taper from 15mg to 1.8 with manageable symptoms I got cocky and decided to jump off 4 weeks ago after my GP told me that was not a "therapeutic dose". It was fine for three weeks then WD hit me like a train; insomnia, extreme agitation, anhedonia, tinnitus, etc . Looking at advice on here I decided to reinstate at 1mg. Things eased a bit but got worse again. I'm not sure whether to go back up to 1.8 or 2, I really want me life back. 2005 Mirt 15mg For insomnia January 2018 started to taper October 2018 discovered this site and started 10% taper from 3.75 April 2019 got to 1.8, jumped Reinstated at about 1mg April 26 Aug 2019 severe myoclonic jerks Doc proscribed 3.75 Zoplicone Now taking 1.35 mg mirt at 11.30, 1x3.75 Zop At 12.30am, 1/4 on waking at 5amish, 1/4 at 4pm 1/4 at 8pm. BuddhaMama
Hi Mikey, I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s helpful for me to read your experience because I am also feeling cocky and wanting to speed up my last mg. I’ve been at .75 for two weeks and so eager to be done (I’ve been tapering for over 2 years), that I’m tempted to cut to .50 next week, then to .25a few weeks later, then stop. you've been off for 4 weeks, so at this point reinstating my not be effective. You might feel better in a few weeks. I always noticed my WD symptoms seemed to ease up by week three after a cut. There are also some things you could try while you’re enduring this wave of symptoms: brain support supplements like high quality omega-3’s, quercetin for histamine intolerance, highly absorbable magnesium for muscle relaxation. meditation guided body scan relaxations regular walks in nature clean clean food and lots of water to flush your system-as well as gentle epsom salt baths to help your body detox. good luck 🙏🏻 OFF Paxil 1996-1997 CT, no w/d sxs OFF Celexa 2002 (6 months) CT, mild and brief w/d sxs OFF Ativan 1mg-Cold Turkey 2014, WD Syndrome for several weeks despite intermittent use over 9 months rather than daily use. PH1
Mikey, I'm sorry you are having a rough time. I've had a similar experience to Buddha in that after some of my cuts it takes about 3 weeks to settle down. My cuts are usually 4-5% at a time, though. I am confident that whether you reinstate or gut it out your CNS will start to settle and calm. It's never soon enough though, huh? How long have you been at 1.0 mg of Mirtazapine? You'll get through this! 2010: Escitalopram (Lexapro) 10 mg. Mirtazapine (Remeron) 15 mg. 2011: Tapered Mirtazapine: 5 month successful taper.
