If I were you, I'd take a tiny chip of Effexor in the morning for a while. This should help your system settle down.

Give it a week, see if you need a bit more Prozac.

I think your system needs a little Effexor to get over the transition. I expect this will go away, then we can assess the Prozac dosing.

A gelatin capsule might make a tablet fragment easier to get down, but it is not necessary if you can wash it down with a good swallow of water. The gelatin capsule quickly dissolves in your stomach.

Hi Steve thanks for checking in ,I hope your well .

its very early days but so far this process has just added more problems .

I wont be writing anymore about symptoms and the extraordinary madness of living with a brain and nervous system this sick.

Aches /pains , serious tension in my muscles is driving me nuts ,neck shoulders and back .

I just hope spring brings an improvement .

I'm in dangerous territory  of being sick of myself .

Im wondering about previous damage to my system from my lifestyle, ive got insight now after more than 30 months of this process ,its not as simple as blaming the meds for everything.

How's yourself .

No , sometimes I don’t think it’s all about the meds although until I’m off them I won’t know for sure.

I tapered again last Wednesday and yesterday and today have been pretty rough. Not as much mentally as physically. Severe joint aches and pains . Some paranoia and anger as well. Took it out on my partner yesterday which is something I try to avoid doing. Had to do a lot of apologising last night. Very lucky that she is so understanding.  I haven’t updated my own thread yet but I will. My concentration isn’t too good today.

Oh well, we continue our journey and help each other. I always get encouragement from the success stories.

Good Luck

Steve

If you are right and it’s not a wave , there’s still lots of hope. We can change . For what it’s worth , I think the drugs must still be playing a part. We won’t know what we are left with until they are out of our system and our brains heal. That will take time. We will get there PB. I have lots of hope and faith for both of us.

How you doing today pb? Hope you feeling a bit better

2001 - 2005 prozac,  2001 - 2017 various benzos, mainly diazapem and zanex,  2002 - 2017 olanzapine or seroquel,  2002 -2017 propanolol, 2005 - 2009 venlafaxine 75mg , forced to go cold turkey off venlafaxine as moved Thailand, doctor cut me off and couldn't get it there, severely ill for over 2 years, countered withdrawals with more zanex and seroquel

2014 returned to UK, mainly to get treatment getting off meds

doctor advised to taper seroquel over a few weeks, severely ill and bed bed-bound so reinstated it, 2015 tapered seroquel myself slower over a few months, was off it 2 months and was too ill so went on olanzapine, became zombie and too tired to get out of bed, went back on seroquel, very depressed so went back on venlafaxine, didnt work  so doctor swapped to zoloft became very agitated so back on venlafaxine

June 2016 - felt strong enough to begin tapering again, started what I thought was a slow taper of all meds,  2016 July Not had any alcoholic drink since this date,

2016 October completely off diazepem, 2017 Feb completely off seroquel, 2017 March completely off proponanlol, 2017 April (day before birthday) completely off venlafaxine, OFF ALL MEDS 11/4/2017, was fine for nearly 3 months and then delayed withdrawal hit,

supplements taking: turmeric capsules, NiaCel (nicotinamide riboside), Vit B12 sublingual, Vit B3, Vit B6, Vit B1, apple cider vinegar, manuka umf 10 honey, camu camu powder,  melatonin when needed, epsom salt baths, juices, smoothies,

Hi pb,

I am sorry that you are feeling worse. I guess it is because that you are still taking medication. Do you still take Prozac? 5 mg? I watched yesterday this video from Virapen, where he said he was reaponsible for one clinical study and the first week two healthy volunteers have tried to commit suicide. It was an interesting video. I am well. Today I almost quit my job again. I am already working for one coleague who is for 3 months away from the office. And the boss wanted today that I work also for the second one who quit. So I had to work for three people. We quarelled and most probably I will start working half time again.

05/2013 Lyrica 100 mg / per day for pain + PGAD resulting from caesarian delivery11/2014 started to taper: 50 mg per day/ for one week then c/tafter one month reinstated at 50 mg /per days of 10 July 2015 drug free-

symptoms OCD

Hi Martina ,well that's ridiculous having to take on others work .

I always wonder about the term "you'll get worse before better"when they start people on meds .how many stick with the agony because they listen to the advice and they would be better off putting them in the bin .I'm fairly strongly suicidal lately alright  but I have my tools and ile batten down through it .

Take care.

me  for 18 years..... when I couldn't properly metabolize any of the drugs they put me on ... they kept adding more like that was the answer....

you'll get worse before better"when they start people on meds .how many stick with the agony because they listen to the advice I think they said 8 wks to wait for them to work by then they could have sold me swamp land or anything ... my brain was gone... that is the thing too dense to know your dense... trick may have been to quit early... even in doing that was prozac after a wk or two it was too late... the fallout took years and got me a few more dx... what was plainly a severe adverse reaction to was dx as other things and more pills came .. I was so trusting.. it is sad.

"Trust and you will be trusted said the liar to the fool"

I was that fool.

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Hi btdt ,its scandalous .I was watching a documentary on Netflix about the thalidomide scandal .sadly this could be nothing compared to what we face the last few decades .

so the route to go down in the future is how ones system metabolises the drug  before even touching them .

Hi PB - I am so sorry you are struggling at the moment.  I am so glad today is better than yesterday; really hoping this is a good sign of your nervous system settling in with the switch.  I am thinking about you - WR.

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper; withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin
-Tried several times to slowly taper Zoloft by 10%, then 5% every 4-6 weeks; could never get below approx. 40 mg - spring 2012 experienced major WD symptoms due to stress; tried to updose but no relief, back on Klonopin 1 mg.
-Switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to Citalopram. Finished Zoloft 1/13; Citalopram 35 mg and 1 mg Klonopin.
-8/13: 27 mg Citalopram; 1 mg Klonopin

-11/14: 12.6 Citalopram - began to have bad withdrawal symptoms; out of desperation increased to 1.25 mg Klonopin at the beginning of December.  12/13/14 16 mg Citalopram - going to stay here to try to stabilize; stabilized on 16 mg Citalopram after 4-5 months

-7/15 - 3/16: reduced to 15 mg; ~ 2 months later w/d hit hard (probably r/t stress); 6/16 updosed to 20 mg Citalopram and trying to stabilize. Updosed to 1.5 Klonopin as well. Stabilized on 20 mg Citalopram after 4-5 months

8/17-9/17: feeling withdrawal symptoms at 20 mg Citalopram (due to stress) - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Supplements: fish oil; magnesium glycinate; vitamin D3; curcumin

Citalopram taper:  2/2018 - 12/2019: 25 mg - 11.03 mg

2020: 1/14/20: 10.89 mg (1.27% drop); 1/22/20: 10.75 mg (1.29% drop); 2/28/20 toe surgery; 4/26/20: 10.62 mg (1.21% drop); 5/3/20: 10.5 mg (1.22% drop); 5/10/20: 10.4 mg (1.24% drop); 5/17/20: 10.2 mg (1.25% drop); 6/7/20: 10.10 mg (1.27% drop); 6/14/20: 9.98 mg (1.19% drop); 6/21/20: 9.85 mg (1.30% drop); 6/28/20: 9.7 mg (1.22% drop); 7/12/20: 9.6 mg (1.23% drop); 7/19/20: 9.5 mg (1.25% drop); 7/26/20: 9.4 mg (1.26% drop); 8/2/20: 9.3 mg (1.28% drop); 8/17/20: 9.14 mg (1.19% drop); 8/31/20: 9.0 mg (1.31% drop); 9/6/20: 8.9 mg (1.22% drop); 9/27/20: 8.8 mg (1.23% drop)

thats great PB, really good sign that you are getting windows and waves, best hold for 3 months before trying to taper the prozac, make sure no delayed withdrawal from the venlafaxine first,

hopefully you will get out for a walk today, only couple months now until we start getting improved weather

im doing good thanks, had a couple bad nights recently but not too bad, had loads of stuff going on so overactive mind, got a solid 7 hours last night so hopefully snapped out of it

Hi Alto ,ive been doing the tiny chip for a few days now ,im mostly very unstable .I actually had to take two 250micro gram Xanax last night ,within 30mins I loved the drowsiness that came over me and I slept from 10am until 8am .my system is craving a break badly .

Hi martina ,yep if it wasn't reality it could be a  horror movie to turn off,i wish  .no one likes a pity party so ile grin and bare it .lately its a nightmare one day and not so much a nightmare the next .

I now understand why people end up on stronger dirtier drugs because the drama constantly going on in my mind is unsustainable .

PB,

Sometimes windows and waves can be disguised as "less crap" and "crap", but it shows a pattern nonetheless.

I know you don't want to hear it while you feel generally like something people try not to step in on the sidewalk, but this is modestly encouraging.

Best,

Andy

Sertraline 50mg and Clonazapam .375mg from 2000 -- symptoms of dizziness Spring 2012

increased to .5 Clonazapam and 100mg Sertraline -- no improvement

Benzo microtaper from November 2012 to November 2014 (followed benzo sites "taper benzo first")

Started Sertraline taper in December 2014 cut by 25mg to 75mg; 62.5mg 1/1/15 and 50mg on 2/1/15

Held at 50mg through April 5 to use liquid
Reduced dosage in 10% or less drops from 50mg to 25mg -- at single tablet of 25mg on 10/5/15

Transitioned to all liquid for accuracy while tapering -- Horrible insomnia -- back to 25mg liquid and held until October 1, 2016

10/16 -- 11/18 tapered very slowly to 10.6mg.  No real improvement and never really stable so updosed to 12.5mg (1/2 a pill) for convenience and long hold.

After 8+ months of holding with no noticeable improvement decided to add .4ml of liquid Prozac (about 1.5mg) to see if that improves the situation

Supplements, Magnesium, D3, Omega 3, curcumin, Valerian, 81mg Aspirin, L-Theanine, Vit. C,

Hi Andy happy new year,im tryng to judge if its the switch or Effexor withdrawl ,its very bad ,ive acid burning headaches for days .

Im not taking Prozac for a year and so unstable .im very watchful every hour because of  the SI ,my mind is going to nasty places ,I don't want to for one second but ive done enough reading to know what I'm in for .its weird because im also able to be jovial while texting a friend on the phone .

You mods are brilliant ,help all newbies before me .my soul is shattered.

I was so unstable last night and it was a night my partner really needed me ,shes a great person and it destroys me not being able to be strong for her ,I did my best .

the empathic feeling I have feels like that movie the green mile ,today im like him and I just want to sleep with a heavy   heart .

Thanks andy take care mate .

These swings are a normal part of the "healing process" and they are why conventional psychiatry takes a look, calls it bipolar 1, and adds a "mood stabilizer" to the mix.

On behalf of my colleagues (and there are several lights that shine WAY brighter than mine) thank you for saying that.

Don't lose sight of the fact this is temporary, PB.  Feels like forever but it's not.  You still have a strong soul and, from all you post, a very good soul.  You will reemerge when this is over -- like the Phoenix rising.

More evidence of your being a good soul.  She's sticking by you -- you are a lucky man.

Best,

Andy

Be careful not to engage in self-blame during this horrific process.  You seem like a good guy with his head and heart in the right place.

Own that.

pb, can you determine what effect Prozac has on you? How do you feel in the several hours after you take it?

Hi btdt ,its scandalous .I was watching a documentary on Netflix about the thalidomide scandal .sadly this could be nothing compared to what we face the last few decades .

so the route to go down in the future is how ones system metabolises the drug  before even touching them .

genetically I am part Irish not sure where my metabolism genes come from but it could be there ...since I notice your in Ireland.   Thing is the genetic testing I can access most doctors do not think is valid so they will push the drugs anyway ...it is always up to us what drug we put in our body...unless we are unconscious in emerg... then it is a crap shoot.

It is a trap Andy and I think you will find all of us have fell into it for a time... if you can find a thread on  here called neuroemotions take a look at that ... some of the crap we go thru it due to the drug effects on our brains and getting stuck there is a bad idea... anything that gets you unstuck is favourable to being stuck... there are a lot of ideas in that thread on how to get out how to distract and how to treat yourself with love... yes love and kindness... unlocks the trap.. as does mindfulness... there should be a old thread here called the power of now... take a look at that... all that has gone before is done the only thing with any power any real power is the minute your living right now... and you can affect this minute... you can so... take step towards healing try the tapping take a walk have a epson salt bath... move in some direction towards health... eat some green veggies buy a juicer... everything counts.

when nothing is moving fast distraction can be key... color watch a meditation video avoid the news... watch cartoons... just be in nature. it is healing
