It seems as though they have shifted in the past few days.

since hanging up the darkening blinds the extreme anxiety/panic has greatly improved.

but now I awake to racing thoughts and feeling depressed which seems to last most of the day.

yesterday it seemed to clear up around 11:00am

today it hasn't seemed to let up.

I don't know if its the withdraws or the mirtazapine/trazodone combo

The fatigue is so bad all day until like 5pm also my memory has been really bad

ok it's been a bit since I last posted.

I am 3 weeks since trying to stabilize on the massive trazodone cut and slight updose.

I'm still having a couple of issues the worst ones are waves of anxiety and the depressed feelings

the pattern of the depressed feelings seem to be most of the day everyday until late afternoon and as far as the anxiety

it seems to be when any sort of small stressor is upon me.

Is this the cut or adverse reaction to the mirtazapine? Please help!!!

It looks like you did a fast taper on trazadone. Reading from your signature.

It's going take time. Because your trying to stabilize on this dose. Could be from both too, you did a few changes that's why. Wish you get well soon.

It is most likely continuing symptoms from the trazodone reduction. If you want a better answer than that, please keep notes on paper of your symptoms and the times of your dose(s). This post has a useful format for a daily log:

Take notes of doses and symptoms.

Febuary 6th

6:30am awoke with bad depression and fogginess

11:00am depression all of a sudden lifted and felt pretty upbeat yet foggy all day.

Med times and doseages stay the same.

Hopefully things level out for awhile so I can start to taper Mort by march the severe lethargy is really getting to me

Undiagnosed, thanks for posting.  It's more helpful to include the times you take medications and the doses with the symptoms log; it means we can see all the information for a day in one place instead of having to scroll up or click to next/prevous page.

For some people, mCPP produces not only anxiety but headaches and a hallucinatory effect. So while trazodone may help you sleep at night, mCPP might make you feel sick, anxious, and out of control during the day. This is exactly how I feel everyday until around 5pm. It's scary as hell I think it is because of the combo of mirtazapine and trazodone. when I say out of control I mean in a really bad way. What do I do ?

I'd like to ask for advise.

First I'll update my meds

Gabapentin 300mg 9:00am 300mg 3:30pm 900mg 10:00pm

Coreg 12.5mg 9:00am 12.5mg 3:30pm

Trazodone 37.5mg 10:00pm

In late February I had enough of what was happening to me. I went to the psych doctor and was told I was having an adverse reaction to the mirtazapine. I was told to taper at a rate that I knew was to fast but I was on the verge of doing bad things... I tapered 15mg to 7.5mg for a week then 3.25mg every other day for a week then stopped.

First two weeks were pretty bad racing thoughts thoughts of harm some stomach cramping dizziness etc.

The third week was pretty bad too with a few windows.

4th week most all physical symptoms gone.

But anxiety and waves of depression with harm thoughts persist.

My question is because of the horrible reaction I was having on the mirtazapine. I can't go back on it.

Is there anything I can transition to then taper slowly?

Undiagnosed,

I wanted to let you know of my experience with traz/mirt. In the past I have rapid-tapered or dropped doses of each med too fast.  I had the absolute worst anxiety and depression during the mirt drop (10/10).  Even rapid tapering traz all the way to 0 last summer did not cause such debilitating anx/depr.

It is hard to know whether mirt was causing an adverse reaction or you were having wd from cutting traz too fast.  Perhaps a 1 mg reinstatement of mirt may work to help with the anx/depr? - pending mod approval, of course!

Best wishes!

PAST

Gabapentin:  about 6 months in 2015, 300-900 mg, cold turkeyed Sept 2015 (at same time dc'd Klonopin)

Klonopin: June 2014- Sept 2015; 1mg tapered over 6 mths, dc'd at 0.25mg, withdrawal hellish (perhaps because of concurrent dc of gabapentin)

Mirtazepine: Jumped off at 2.4 mg. (stable in 8 months).

Seroquel:  June 14 - July 24, 2016, 25 mg alternate nights; smaller doses for shorter periods. Total use about 3 months

Lamictal: March 19, 2018 - 1 mg; March 23 - 1.25 mg; April 6 - 2mg. Discontinued at 2 mgJuly 1, 2018 due to Steven Johnson Syndrome.

CURRENT

Supplements: Vit D, turmeric

Naturethroid: 65 mcg for hypothyroidism

Trazodone: Oct 2015 - June 2016; 75 mg tapered over 2 mths, intense w/d after 3 weeks. Reinstatement: 07/25/16 - 25 mg; updosed 08/03/16 - 50 mg;  10/01/16-  62mg; 03/24/17 dropped to 50 mg (stable in 2.5 months)

Current psych meds: Trazodone 50 mg

Ty for your kind words. Idk that I could do the mirt again. It was def the mirt causing the problem. I feel so much better off of it. Even the horrible anxiety I'm having now is nothing compared to what it was on it. I was absolutely losing my mind.

It's good to read that your doctor was correct about mirtazapine causing the symptoms you were having and that you've experienced relief since discontinuing. Sadly the only "treatment" for your situation now is no treatment or time. Please consider holding all your current doses until the withdrawal symptoms from stopping mirt settle down to a consistent pattern or (if you're lucky) diminish to nothing.

I really need you guys opinion. Things aren't getting a lot better all physical symptoms have gone but the depression is really getting me. Is there anything I could bridge this with? Then do a slow taper. I am not in the place I was on the mirt I was a complete mess now its just the depression

So four months off the mirt after a 2 week taper. Things got pretty bad waking every day with horrible thoughts of self harm was forced onto latuda for a very short time which I quickly got off of. My main symptoms are as follows

After almost every meal my body goes crazy shakes and anxiety

Every morning severe anxiety

Depression is up and down mostly due to inability to do much.

Ocd still pretty bad "looking for answers"

No motivation

Weight loss

Very low stress tolerance

Emotional instability

Meds are as follows

Trazodone 25mg at 10:00 pm

Gabapentin 800mg 10:00pm

Coreg 8:00 am 10:00 pm

Hydroxyzine prn 25mg

Being ureged to get off gabapentin because after taking it I get severe depression and the self harm thoughts are way worse.

Unsure if the trazodone is causing the out of control morning anxiety "feeling" out of control.

The anxiety makes the self harm thoughts really bad as well.

Any thoughts would be appriciated

Ok since I'm pretty calm right now I thought I'd post.

I know I haven't listened very well and I know I need to.

I also know that my situation is not unlike others here.

I'm looking for any advise I can get.

My main concerns are the horrible anxiety that last till 12:00 pm or so then abate.

Weight and muscle loss

shaking after trying to eat

And the looping dark thoughts if I try to take the gabapentin during the day.

I have made changes in a panic and I know that's not the best thing to do.

Mag and fish oil when I wake up along with Coreg 12.5mg

25mg traz 10:00pm

12.5 coreg 10:00pm

800mg gabapentin 10:00 pm

Symptoms follow a distinct pattern everyday

Awake between 7:00 8:00 am foggy and crazy anxiety that last till 12:00 to 3:00pm subsides and I feel relatively normal.

Depending on what I eat for dinner my body will shake and feel nauseated

Which subsides in an hour or so. Then it repeats eveyday

The anxiety is also causing agoraphobia

Instead of taking all your magnesium in the morning, what about taking some, but then dissolving some in water and sipping it throughout the day.  Alto reports that she found this very calming.  The morning anxiety is very normal, and finding ways to manage it are all you can really do. It's worth looking for ideas in the symptoms forum.  Acceptance, soothing meditation videos ... there are all sorts of tools there.

The food/dinner issue.  eating-as-an-activating-factor  Smaller meals, or simpler meals may help.  Have you noticed if any foods make it worse than others?  What happens if you have your main meal in the middle of the day, and a lighter meal at the end of the day?

Ty for your response

The only mag citrate I've been able to get is soft gel 250mg or liquid laxative. If its real bad in the morning I'll do the 250 if its more tolerable I mix the liquid into water at a rate of 100mg. They both work pretty well with very little stomach issues. The 250 is a bit sedating.

Still trying to pin down the meal issues some meals are way worse than others. I seems ok with eggs toast turkey sausage etc. Beef seems to be the worst " sweating shaking etc" its all maddening.

Not sure how to update my signature from my phone.

In the past two months I've taken the gabapentin from 1500 to 800 with

Just some joint pain which seems to let up in a few days.

Trazodone from 37.5 to 25 June 12th haven't seen much difference in anything maybe waking a couple times during the night.

Also dealing with a lot of fear... Does it go away?

this used to happen to me every day, used to wake early with extreme anxiety and was always vomiting, vomiting used to relieve the anxiety a bit, I used to always sit curled up in a cool shower for ages, it used to help relive the anxiety, the anxiety always wore off after a couple of hours after waking, since off quitiapine this has stopped,

2001 - 2005 prozac,  2001 - 2017 various benzos, mainly diazapem and zanex,  2002 - 2017 olanzapine or seroquel,  2002 -2017 propanolol, 2005 - 2009 venlafaxine 75mg , forced to go cold turkey off venlafaxine as moved Thailand, doctor cut me off and couldn't get it there, severely ill for over 2 years, countered withdrawals with more zanex and seroquel

2014 returned to UK, mainly to get treatment getting off meds

doctor advised to taper seroquel over a few weeks, severely ill and bed bed-bound so reinstated it, 2015 tapered seroquel myself slower over a few months, was off it 2 months and was too ill so went on olanzapine, became zombie and too tired to get out of bed, went back on seroquel, very depressed so went back on venlafaxine, didnt work  so doctor swapped to zoloft became very agitated so back on venlafaxine

June 2016 - felt strong enough to begin tapering again, started what I thought was a slow taper of all meds,  2016 July Not had any alcoholic drink since this date,

2016 October completely off diazepem, 2017 Feb completely off seroquel, 2017 March completely off proponanlol, 2017 April (day before birthday) completely off venlafaxine, OFF ALL MEDS 11/4/2017, was fine for nearly 3 months and then delayed withdrawal hit,

supplements taking: turmeric capsules, NiaCel (nicotinamide riboside), Vit B12 sublingual, Vit B3, Vit B6, Vit B1, apple cider vinegar, manuka umf 10 honey, camu camu powder,  melatonin when needed, epsom salt baths, juices, smoothies,

My only symptoms are the extreme anxiety in the morning. Its not when the sun comes up, its more so soon after I get up and moving. When I make a cut of the gabapentin I don't feel much of anything maybe a little bit of sore legs. Even when I made the cut of trazodone I didn't feel anything. Symptoms have stayed the exact same. The only other issue I'm having is stomach bloating and pain when I eat.

Its hard to not get down on myself when this happens everyday.

I'm trying so hard not to take any benzo or hydroxyzine.

I imagine it will be down to one or more of your medications, my theory was that my morning anxiety was down to my quitiapine wearing off while I was sleeping and starting to withdraw from it, not sure if my theory was right, after waking and taking my meds and having cold shower etc it would start to wear off and i would be calmish after a 2 or 3 hours, I still could never eat a meal until night time after taking my night meds and I was fully relaxed, I hope you solve this problem I know it is hell waking up to it every morning,

*  Is this still an accurate account of your doses for each drug?

*  Have you made any changes since January that are not in your signature?

Please add the date you stopped the mirt into your signature.  This is very important - it's hard to make sense of what's going on for you if your signature doesn't give us the whole picture.  Please write the dates as 12 March 2017, not 3/12/17 (as some, like me in NZ, read them backwards and it gets confusing).

* Do you feel that the symptoms that started when you discontinued Mirt have settled into a steady sort of pattern?  I.e. do you think they've settled as much as they are going to?

When you've done the sig. changes, and answered all three questions, then we will be able to look at what to do next.

Thanks Undiagnosed - we'll get there!

Trazodone 25mg at 10:00 pm

Gabapentin 700mg 10:00pm

Coreg 8:00 am 10:00 pm

Hydroxyzine prn 25mg

mag 250 mg as needed no more than 500 mg a day

fish oil 1800 mg a day

l-theanine 200 to 400 mg a day

I have made many changes since may with no difference in symptoms

when I drop gabapentin there is a day or two with an uptick in anxiety and maybe some joint pain then subsides

when I dropped the trazodone from 37.5 to 25 I noticed nothing

I do belive that the mirt withdrawal has settled, no more super deep depression just fear

I am probably having rebound from the gabapentin by not taking it during the day and its not helping the anxiety , it just scares the crap out of me. When I take it I get dark looping thoughts.

My worst symptoms are extreme anxiety during the day my mind takes off and anxiety sets in.

also no appietite and gi issues

no motivation

I can't seem to think about anything except getting off this stuff its ruined my life.

My biggest worrys are sleep and anxiety I can't seem to control my anxiety

I seems ok with eggs toast turkey sausage etc. Beef seems to be the worst " sweating shaking etc" its all maddening.

The above indicates you've injured your gut somehow. If you're reacting to foods such as beef, bacon, cheese, etc., that indicates histamine intolerance. Histamine intolerance can cause very uncomfortable anxiety surge-like reactions. You may wish to eliminate high-histamine foods for a while -- all fermented foods, aged or preserved meats, cheese, yogurt, for example -- and let your gut heal.

How did you get to 700-900mg gabapentin at night? Why are you taking an inconsistent dosage?

My guess is you're suffering rebound anxiety in the morning from the whopping dose of gabapentin you take at night. Gabapentin is benzo-like. This sets you up to feel awful for the rest of the day. The food reactions aren't helping.

Okay.  And you are taking consistent doses?  If it's been over a month since your last reduction, and things are otherwise settled, then you might try another reduction.

What did you think of Alto's idea to eliminate histamine-causing foods to help your gut heal?

I am taking consistent doses. Its been a little over a week. I've been dropping 100 mg every 2 weeks its rough for a couple days then settles. My wife is going to try and help me with my diet the only relief I get is when I take 25 Klonopin once in a blue moon.  I'm suffering terribly from anxiety.
