Rcd2: Drug Induced tremors

Recommended Posts

Hello

A few months ago I started having tremors, jerks, whatever you want to call it. The tremors were/are bad.

I tolerated the movements for a few weeks until my left hand started dancing around on its own in a meeting with a large account of mine.

The prescribing doctor got a earful from me and I saw a neurologist who specialized in movement disorders.

Went through the tests, and not once did any part of my body jerk. It did in the waiting room of course.

His conclusion was the meds are causing this. It was time to get off of 1 or 2of them and sent his report over to the prescribing doctor.

She has me going off 1 dose of the Lamotrigine. Its been 2 weeks and I feel like complete crap. I've been keeping a eye on my behavior since I'm cutting back. It is an adventure for sure.

I just want the involuntary movement to stop.

It will hopefully stop. My bet is that it will. I had involuntary movements in hand, feet and legs as well as lip when starting and stopping Meds and each time they went away

Rcd2 -- Welcome to Surviving Antidepressants (SA)

I'm sorry that you're having to deal with involuntary movements. To help us help you would you summarize your history in a signature -- drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly?

  • Any drugs prior to 24 months ago can just be listed with start and stop years.
  • Please use actual dates or approximate dates (mid-June, Late October) rather than relative time frames (last week, 3 months ago)
  • Spell out months, e.g. "October" or "Oct."; We're international so 9/1/2016 can be interpreted as Jan. 9, 2016 or Sept. 1, 2016.
  • Please leave out symptoms and diagnoses.
  • A list is easier to understand than one or multiple paragraphs.
  • You can find instructions in this topic: Please put your withdrawal history in signature
  • If you are using a phone or mobile device, you need to switch to the "full" or desktop version of the site. Instructions are in Post 9 and Post 10

Some possibly relevant topics in the meantime:
Why taper by 10% of my dosage?. This is probably the most important one to read; it's about how slow some people need to taper. (It's even too fast for some.)

I hope you'll find the information in the SA forums helpful for your situation. I'm sorry that you are in the position that you need the information, but am glad that you found us.
