gloworm: Tapered 10 mg Prozac over 6 months, Dr wants me to reinstate

How much klonopin were you on glowworm?  I have taken it for many many years as well.

Why did you decide to get off the Prozac?   How were the months since Nov before you reposted?

I was on 0.5 mg 1 x day for close to 30 years.....very rarely would updose it.  I had been on tamoxifen for breast cancer and was getting a very paranoid depression and my GP updosed to 3 x day ….went total paradoxical on me and had Akathesia / rage terrible.  When I googled the drug I was mortified what I read about benzos.  2 mg Prozac was added and it calmed that fire storm in my brain on day 2 …..worked me up to 10 mg Prozac ….did a 2 year taper off of Klonopin that went fairly well.  6 months off I started tapering the Prozac over 6 months.  I came off the Prozac because a so called benzo expert told me I wouldn't heal unless I came off the Prozac,......stupid mistake I made.  I haven't been well at all since November, the extreme paranoia lifted a bit but the rage / burning / extreme distraught feeling are all horrible.  I feel like a toxic electrical dump.....the stress never leaves, feels like a elephant on my chest …..all this stress can not be good.  Was talking to a woman tonight that had a QUEEG done and have been off her Effexor for 2 years (still on Klonopin ) told her that the test showed so much anxiety that she could have a heart attack within 5 years...….

I have had odd reactions to the drugs along the way as well, and then things would settle down again...but it sure was scary at the time!!!

 

I would think 2 years is a good taper for the .5 of Klonopin...good for you for doing it that way!  I tapered 2.25mg in 6 most and then another 1mg was tapered in 2 weeks.  Needless to say it has upended me.  Plus trying to get off an AD that never has been right from the start.

 

I wanted to reassure you that I have much chest pressure, often VERY hot hot feelings in my chest, bladder area, stomach, head, ... I also have ears that ring so loudly sometimes I can hardly hear myself think!  I get depressed, anxious, terrified, hot skin, tingly at times, headaches, vision problems, off balance, legs swell, eyes puffy, joints and muscles so sore, agitated, angry...etc etc.  I do think it is the benzo...but the AD doesnt help either.

 

I do believe, from what i have read here, that it will get better in time.  I think it might help you to read the posts of others here ... you will see that you are not alone, that what you are going through is not something wrong with you but a consequence of these medications on our nervous systems.  

It is going to take a long time...I certainly didnt think Id be this way as I welcome grandchildren into my life!!!

Same, not very well at all.  Not sure if this is Benzo issues that was covered by the Prozac and when I came off Prozac things got horrible.  I have panic disorder,  paranoia , rage, tachycardia, dizzy / vertigo .   I wish I could tell you something good but sad to say no.   Honestly I wish I could go back on Prozac but im scared of the backlash of it , my CNS is too damaged and the stress of life has got the best of me.
