Not a full head feeling.  I would describe it as simply existing, not living. Walking zombie, not interested in anything.

Lexparo 10mg user for 2.5 years. Last dose was 2/27/2008 after a fast 1 month taper. Recovered around 2011. Had issues with depression, anxiety, akathasia, inner restlessness, vertigo, insomnia, loss of appetite, eye floaters just to name a few. Basically rode it out, employing the Dr. Claire Weekes method.

Took Cipro in July of 2014 and have been having set backs with nausea, vertigo, anxiety (racing thoughts), and depression the last half of 2014.

A Disconnect from feeling satisfaction/enjoyment.  It is like being in a glass sphere observing others enjoy life and you're not able to relate/connect.

That sounds like what one might describe as depersonalization/derealization.

Thanks for coming back, as always, Aeroman.

Best,

Andy

Sertraline 50mg and Clonazapam .375mg from 2000 -- symptoms of dizziness Spring 2012

increased to .5 Clonazapam and 100mg Sertraline -- no improvement

Benzo microtaper from November 2012 to November 2014 (followed benzo sites "taper benzo first")

Started Sertraline taper in December 2014 cut by 25mg to 75mg; 62.5mg 1/1/15 and 50mg on 2/1/15

Held at 50mg through April 5 to use liquid
Reduced dosage in 10% or less drops from 50mg to 25mg -- at single tablet of 25mg on 10/5/15

Transitioned to all liquid for accuracy while tapering -- Horrible insomnia -- back to 25mg liquid and held until October 1, 2016

10/16 -- 11/18 tapered very slowly to 10.6mg.  No real improvement and never really stable so updosed to 12.5mg (1/2 a pill) for convenience and long hold.

After 8+ months of holding with no noticeable improvement decided to add .4ml of liquid Prozac (about 1.5mg) to see if that improves the situation

Supplements, Magnesium, D3, Omega 3, curcumin, Valerian, 81mg Aspirin, L-Theanine, Vit. C,

Good to hear from you Aeroman. You.... like me also had a bad experience with Cipro. Glad things are going good for you.

Prozac 1999-2009 quit semi cold turkey.

2012 Placed on Seroquel 25 mg, Tranxene (Clorezepate) 3.75 mg 3x a day, Remeron 30 mg for anxiety/akathesia.

Weaned off Seroquel and Tranxene .to Remeron 15 Mg.

In May 2014 tried quitting Remeron at its lowest dose. Had severe withdrawals.Reinstated Remeron at 30 mg by doctor. August 5 2014 entered hospital. Doctor pulled the Remeron and bridged it to Pamelor (Nortriptyline) 40mg and Zyprexa 2.5mg.After removing the Remeron all my bad symptoms went away and I am stable.

9/11/14 - 7.5 mg tranxene, 40mg Pamelor, Zyprexa 2.5mg

12/29/14 -  20mg Pamelor, 1/6/15,  7/31/15 3.5mg, 8/10/15 3.2 mg, 9/15/15 2.2mg, 10/15/15 1.8mg

(Feb 2016 - 1.4mg Pamelor only -  OFF OF TRANXENE AND ZYPREXA SINCE DEC 2014 BENZO FREE Since 2014. Nortrityline (Pamelor) .8mg Aug 2016

March 2017 DRUG FREE

I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression 2yrs ago after my relationship ended after 11yrs and for the last year I was taking lexapro but quit cold turkey after bad side effects due to a higher dose (from 10mg-20mg)  now I refuse to take any antidepressants as I felt like it was just a band aid effect on my issues when I just needed to time to get over things now I'm suffering with aches and pains as well as physical sicknesses and even ended up in hospital from paranoid episodes of having a heart attack but after reading your story it gives me hope that I can live a full happy life without medications so thank you for sharing your story,  especially when I never knew anyone who had mental health issues so it was hard to make my loved ones understand what I'm going through.

Thanks for giving hope . I am living a real tough time since last 12 months of stopped cocktail. I shout at my parents as if I have never had any good moments with them. Its with everyone but I try to keep shut my mouth as it opens loud with built in anger.

Wheres the happiness gone ? Where's mind , body? I have chronic low blood pressure which never goes up for a long time even after coffee ?

Had to leave a good paying job and since then jobless. Friends come by and ask whats going on. I feel so weak , irritable all the time that I avoid everyone. I feel I am deep stuck.

Thoughts of going back to see a psychiatrist come to get some relief but cannot courage up as they are the reason for me in this situation.

In build hatred to everyone. Why ?

we all have different situations at home. We all have different environments. However, it seems that the pattern is the same for many of us that quit the drug too fast. I cannot explain why some feel issues for a few days and others feel issues for a few months. But what I can say for a certainty is that we all have the same trend of issues. I can't explain why I was feeling weird after I got off Lexapro and I remember printing out a bunch of stuff so my loved ones can see that I was not going crazy period I was printing out stories about people having the same issues. All I can say is that over time, it does get better period I would tell myself that this time next year I will be doing a lot better than I am today. In the beginning, I remember counting the hours and weeks. Then it went to months. I stopped setting a time line for me. It didn't do any good and caused more heartache. Don't set up a time line for yourself. Just know it will get better.

Your story is so inspiring as I'm withdrawing from Lexapro too. I will use your mantra whenever I despair : this time next year I will be a lot better than today! Thank you Aeroman! Btw did you have brain zaps? Mine started around month 16 of withdrawal and are still going on till now (month 22). It is one of my most difficult symptoms because it has been unrelenting. Grateful for your input, thank you!

Summer 2016 - summer 2018: put on Lexapro, going from 5 mg up to 20 mg over the span of the 2 years (had visited shrink for help with obsessive thinking, was not diagnosed with anything in particular, just prescribed Lexapro 15 mins into first session)

Summer 2018: tapered down by 2.5 mg every few weeks

Protracted withdrawal ever since. 0-14 months began with a massive panic attack that landed me in ER, followed by prolonged anxiety, mental fog and a skin rash on my back. Was regularly consuming alcohol as did not know I was in WD. From then onwards, hit with worse myriad symptoms. Currently at 22 months and have electromagnetic sensitivity, brain zaps, brain fog, memory problems (especially name recall), twitch in right eyebrow, daily waking up at 3 or 4 a.m. with fast heartbeats and "sticky" negative memories, suicidal thoughts, rage episodes, temperature dysregulation, physical numbness & weakness, libido loss.

I am pretty late to this wonderful success story. But thank you @Aeroman for giving me hope that I can get off Lexapro! I have been reading/watching Claire Weekes, meditating, walking, eating well, yoga, etc, etc. But on my bad days, I do very little and feel so negative that I think I am undoing all my work. But time does heal, no matter what! Thank you for this gift today!

Got SEVERE PSSD (no libido, no erections, pleasureless orgasma, total genital anesthesia, emotional numbness, lost of personality)

No wave and windows, no improvement so far. Just lije 1-2% in numbness in first two months post quitting.

Im suicidal because of pssd. I dont believe in recovery since my state didnt improve in any significant way.

Hi mate.

Hope your well.

Can i ask at 2.5 year, were you still miserable? What i mean by that is waking up each day and still aware you were still struggling.

Im still very anhedonic and have a feeling of DR. I still feel like im in my own world and just go through the motions of each day.

I just wish i could wake up and feel rested, light and refreshed with a spark in my gut ready to have some fun. HoWever, that aint the case.

On the other hand life is alot easier than 2 year ago.

Take care

Hi Lee. I know the question wasn't addressed to me but if it's any consolation you're not alone. I'm on month 30 of withdrawal from Lexapro and feel the same as you. I still have about 8 or so lingering symptoms, mostly physical, and my brain haze is ongoing though still better than a while back. I keep praying that this be the last year of this. May it be the last one for you too 🙏

Yes. I feel you. My intellectual capacity got worse in my third year, not better. But I spoke to Baylissa whom I mentioned to you before and she assured me that everyone fully heals in the end. It just takes time. She's worked with some 14,000 withdrawal cases over the years. Both benzo and antidepressants. She also assured me that withdrawal is not linear and symptoms ebb and flow and appear and disappear and sometimes people feel worse later in the process but in the end everyone heals fully. Personally my scariest symptom is the total libido loss. I have muted intellectual capacity but at least I have some brain function. I can't say the same for sexual function. Totally frozen right now. No libido at all, don't even think about sex, as though I'm a child. Don't know if you have this symptom too. I also have constant brain zaps among other issues. Anyway hang in there. I can share with you videos and motivating material if you wish. I listen to all this stuff a lot. If you need someone to talk to feel free to reach out. We will make it in the end. Hang in there 💪

Here is one cool video on withdrawal. Have plenty more resources.

Take care

Lee

Hi Lee, yes I was.  But better than Month 6-12.  I had anhedonia.  Yes, what you describe is what I had. You will get there.

I thought the same thing.  I remember on the other website, folks were reporting recovery at Month 18.  But that wasn't the case for me.  What do I do?  Get back on Lex?  Get on another drug?  Or keep pushing through and let time do its thing.  I chose the latter.

Oh yes!  Insomnia kicked in for me around Month 4 or 5ish.  I would get 30 min of unrestful sleep.  It basically felt like blinking your eyes and seeing that the time passed 30 min.  I didn't nap.  I just closed my eyes and accepted what I had was insomnia induced by Lexapro Withdrawal.  I even went to a sleep study that didn't help at all.  I would get the 4am wake up call with gut wrenching anxiety.  The brain zaps/shocks happened to me during Phase I (Month 1-4) where I had mainly physical symptoms such as nausea, lack of appetite, headaches, brain zaps, etc.  My original story was on Paxil Progress in 2008.  Actually, before that, I was on the drugs dot com website where I searched and searched for "Lexapro Withdrawal" where I finally connected with people who had similar issues.

How did you solved the insomnia, what have you done to overlive this situation. Did you use melatonin, or xanax for it. How long did the insomnia take to go away.

It resolved on itself through time.  I tried all sorts of things like Valerian Root, Melatonin, herbal teas, you name it...nothing budged.  it took time, maybe 5 to 6 months and I finally started getting restful sleep again.  No, no Xanax...by then, I already knew Xanax was addictive.  I would watch movies or surf the web on w/d stuff to pass the time.  Read success stories.  Each morning was a like reset.

It did nothing for me.  My insomnia was fierce and full force.  I would try it, anything.  Also try a sleep study.  I too was on my knees with this and like I said, it eventually released its grip and allowed me to sleep.  Even a nap here and there.  Now, I am perfectly normal in my sleep.  I used to feel wired at night.
