Hey Divegrl,

How's it going? It looks like you're doing pretty well? ❤️. What does your life look like now? Thanks for stopping by last week. I've still got the fatigue big-time. Did you happen to get fatigue as part of your withdrawal?

Cheers,

Marmot

Hi All,

I am back as I just need to share! I am incredibly grateful that I am still off antidepressants.

However over the past years I have had highs and lows with my mental health.  (A couple of times thinking about going back on antidepressants).
Each of those times I have come here and read the coping strategies and with time my mental health would improve.

With any new transition or loss, well it really impacts me. Therapy has worked wonders, and the side effects have been much less of course. 🥰

Well I am here now, as I might be going through another transition. My company is running layoffs, and well it has pretty much impacted everyone. I thought I was doing ok with the news, but I have been needing a nap everyday and then having insomnia at night. Tomorrow calling my therapist to get back in, but in the meantime… I am here. 🙂

I feel so much better just writing this out, so may start a mini journal of sorts as I work through this transition. So grateful for this community and space and being able to post here. If you are reading thank you so much and sending love.

Hi divegrl

I'm glad to hear that you have managed to not go back on any psychiatric drugs.  That is a really big achievement.  And I'm glad that you are using non drug techniques to get through life issues.

And that is exactly what you are going through now.  I have a friend who has never ever taken a psychiatric drug and she has told me that she goes through times of low mood and feeling down.  It is just a normal part of being a human being.  I think it is important to assess what is happening in our life when we feel lower than we have been feeling.  Sometimes it is simply a case that we haven't been sleeping as well, or we might be suffering a simple virus or have an infection, sometimes it can be that we have overdone things and need some down time.

And of course major life stressors happen as well just like you are dealing with now.  It can be a very difficult time, especially if you don't know what is happening because you go through hopeful and then hopeless thoughts.  The what ifs.  And when things change we can go through a period of grief because there are things that we lose due to the change.

Sometimes life does seem too hard to deal with and it would be nice to be numbed to it for a while.  But of course we have had the experience of doing that and in the end it is not the most helpful way of dealing with what is, after all, just a part of normal life.

Again, well done. I cannot tell you how many times in my life I have read and re-read the same helpful texts over and over. I imagine I will be reading the same words for the rest of my life! Whatever works, and it works if you work it!

Thank you friend for your encouraging words. I remember one of the moderators suggested I read the non-drug coping mechanisms. They said it would be helpful for my taper and the once fully off SSRIs.

I naively thought that once I was done with my taper, that I would only have joyful emotions.  Learning to accept and welcome all of my emotions has been a huge area of growth for me.

Thank you so much for being here.

There is a little sun by my name on this thread. I think that means I was healing?

I remember when tapering, I would have an affirmation… I am healed. I envisioned getting to this place, off of antidepressants… being healed and full of love and joy.

But the idea of being fully healed does not allow much room for being human. We all will continue to struggle sometimes, from old wounds, daily life.

So I have given my self much more space. Being fully healed is not a destination or a point in time. It’s a practice that I come home to again and again. Being gentle with myself. Kind. Coming back to each breath over and over.

My 3 words to live by used to be love, joy and peace. Yet those words do not cover the full scope of humanity. I have now focused on simplicity, humility and compassion.

Holding myself accountable on here to get back into therapy…. It is so wonderful. And get back into community.

Thank you for reading and wishing you a beautiful day today.

Hi All,

So I was able to get my first appointment back with my therapist; who I love. My appointment is this Tuesday. I have not been going to therapy since October and I can’t say enough about the wonders of being fully seen and accepted.

My therapist switched offices so I got to read her new bio. She practices a form of therapy called acceptance and commitment and I find it really helps me process my emotions. Hoping to get some clarity (in my brain) on the whole job situation.

Hope everyone is doing well and take care. Wishing you a wonderful day. ❤️
